I own a sign shop and am restoring my childhood Norco Freestyle Team Issue. I was literally sitting 6 feet from a bottle of isopropyl alcohol when I watched this. Worked perfectly. Also another tip- put a nickel inside the grip before installation. It will prevent the bars from wearing through the end of the grips.
I remember Struggling as a kid with new grips. Ugh. Thanks for this. 2020
Same here haha
For real, I just started riding bmx again at 29 and this could have saved me so much time and hassle back in the day lol.
This is the only video that should pop up when people ask this question. Literally the best and easiest method. Appreciate it
Just put one on using sheer will and nothing else. Took about 10 mins and blistered up my hand. Searched on TH-cam, found this and did the other in 5 secs. Thanks man.
I’m sorry but I laughed a little. Just because it’s exactly something I would do...except I wouldn’t search for how to put them on easier until after forcing them both on by the way of will power. Haha Thanks for being here man
Hey man, just used this method to put on the same grips 😆 it was soooooo easy. I got that Caribbean heat on my side so it dried in like 5 mins. Thanks again dude.
That’s awesome to hear! Happy to have helped!!!
Nice congrats
Worked like a charm. Thanks dude! Honestly I probably could have figured this out myself but I'm glad I looked! Appreciate it! 💪
Happy to help and glad to hear it worked for you!
Thanks, Brant, that saved me a fair amount of time and aggravation. It still wasn't easy to get the old grips off, however!
Thank you!
Someone told me to “use alcohol,” so I rubbed on the bars at first.
No dice. 🤦🏻♂️
Used your method and was done in seconds! Thanks!
Just helped me big time. Over here strong arming grips 😆 Thanks bro!
Dude! You have a video for everything! Just replaced the grips on our tandem bike! Thanks Brant!
Awesome how well the rubbing alcohol works isn’t it?!
Thank you!
Good info, bro! I have used a hair dryer at low setting for years. Gonna combine your method with mine and see what happens.
A hair dryer? I haven’t heard that one. Can you explain what you do? I’d like to try
Saved me a bunch of time, thanks. First time swapping grips in a long time.
Happy to help!
It works like magic! I even tried to heat up the grip and put and push and hammer , all sorts of silly trying, and then despaired! Until i saw your trick! ❤
Yes, finally. Thank you. Been doing this for 30 years. Use a spray bottle and a zip tie, and get 70% or 90%. Though 50% will work, but take a few minutes to dry.
It works so well. Hadn’t heard of it until about a week ago and a few friends didn’t know about it either so I figured others probably didn’t know as well.
Absolutely. That's why I'm thrilled you did this video. I see ppl say hairspray and even WD, lol, that's nuts. I would never think WD but hairspray has been tried. The second it touches sweat the grips will pop off so suddenly you could die. Don't ask how I know. :D
Haha WD definitely is crazy. Hair spray at least makes sense other than what you said at the end. Hopefully some people find use out of this one
Thank you for this information I just ordered a rubber pair and when it came to install them I didn’t think about how I would put them on 😂
This is one of the best ideas ever, what a life saver, cheers!
Thank you so much mine are loose and I have alcohol somewhere I will check out more of your videos
Happy to help!!! Hope it helps enough to earn your subscription!!
Literally just now saved my butt, zip tie method is usually my go to but the Eclat pulsar grips are way too sticky for it,the alcohol method worked flawlessly!thanks once more for a video that makes BMX a little easier
Great idea and method!
Was thinking this is going to be a WWF Wrestling Match to put on some new grips on my old MirraCo
Can't wait for my new grips to come in the mail now! Thank You Brant!
Oh and hope you got to go and show some new content on the Buckeye Bike Show?
Loved your 2023 vlog of it!
Happy to help!!
And thanks! It was another awesome year for the event. Definitely excited to see how the videos come together from it
Perfect . Zip tie method to get off also perfect . Never been so easier. Thanks
Thank you so much man, i tried to put the grips on in the handle bar my palms are painful, good thing i have isopropyl alcohol and I’m able to put the grips on easily.
Thanks , I used a tiny bit soapy water and worked similar results just longer dry time
I did it with my hands sanitizer after to watch the video ! Super easy !!! Thanks
Thank you so much !! Wow couldn’t figure it out.
Happy to help!!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks you SOOO much this is the best trick i've ever learned!!
I’m happy to help!!!
Thank you I was struggling to get them on and this took like 5 minutes
Helped me. Really cool video. Never knew alcohol was used for bmx grips.
I've used this method and the air compressor method and the easiest methid by far is the zip tie method. Literally i use 5 or so zip ties, put them in the grip then slide them on my bar then just pull em out when you're done. Best method I've used and I have used it for a good while now.
Everyone's got their own trick that they use and thats what I use lol
Man I’ve tried zip ties a few times and just struggled with it. Haha
Thank you so much!
For this valuable information ❤
Thx man my new odies just came in like makin a lego character
Used this today, works great, thanks
Awesome!! Great to hear it worked for you
Thank you such a simple trick that helps so much
Yooo, this saved my life, thanks bro!
It also works if you want take them out. This is genius!!!
Word was gonna ask if this works taking them off thanks boss
@@rolllimbo973 it definetly does! :)
Thanks, works on scooter grips too
I just wore off the top layer of skin on my hands and only got my new grips halfway. I'll try this tomorrow.
This helped so much! Best option I found
Thanks for the tip. That actually works!
Happy to help!!
Man loved the video, got to put on my grips in less than 2 minutes 🙌
Thank you so much, worked straight away 2 thumbs up to you and i subscribed
Hey awesome to hear!!! I’m always happy to help
Holy shit! This helped me so much! You rock!
I found the grips slipped post install, even after allowing to dry for a bit and reinstalling. Will stick to compressor method...
Thanks a lot, this was a lifesaver!:)
Thank you it worked👍🏼
Glad to hear and I'm happy to help!!
1:48 he finally tells you how.
works really good
Heck yea it does
Worked great thanks bro
Yep yep, happy to hear it helped!!!
it worked thanks for the tip! 👍🏾
Thank you. Been many years
Yoo!! Works great. Much appreciated 🤘😎
Holy crap- THIS IS A TOP TIP!!!
Thank you so much! Just for anyone that is wondering, hand sanitizer also works 😅 I took a chance
I use a can of ultra duster. That's what I though your video was about lol
Never heard that one before. How’s it work?
@@Brant_Moore works just like the air compressor I had an issue that I had no idea to get my new grips on until I saw the can of ultra duster. Stick the hose adapter In the grip and pull the trigger.
Oh thats awesome, im going to have to check that out!
I didn’t have any alcohol so I used cheap cologne and it worked like a charm lol
u sm my g my fixie lookin hella good now
Thx bro this saved me so much time👍
Glad I could help!!!!!!
Worked like a charm! Thanks👍
You don’t needa take it out if it’s too “wet” it will dry off even when it’s wet and on
Just if you wanna ride right away
This worked even better than the time when I used personal lubricant..
Perfect, happy to help!
This saved my day!
Ayyy, happy to help!!!!
You’re the man!
Saved my day. Thanks!
Anyone else watch at 2X speed? Great video
Haha thank you
Much appreciated. Super easy.
I use gt-85. It makes it easy to put it on and dries in like 5 min
I replaced my tubes way more times than grips
actually helpful 👍
Brake cleaner and it’s works for guess what also ! 😮
Thanks bro your awesome
Always happy to help man!!!
Yeah ok but how did you get the old grips off?
Tq soooooooooo much
Helped me a lot
good job
Thanks!!
life saver!
REEEEEEAAAALLY heplful !
Always happy to help!!!
A million thank u's, bro
Vodka does the trick
Got a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol and some brand new wethepeople Raptor grips to install yes sir! Thanks
Perfect! Glad to hear it helped you!
@@Brant_Moore I've since swapped my grips over with no fuss. So this video definitely helped. I can't really get the cable tie down that far but must have gotten it in far enough as I had zero problems!
Likely the cheapest thing to use if you don't have a compressor. 👍 Or spit, but much longer drying time and also the slightly gross factor. Haha
Hahaha yea spit is a no go!
i use hairspray that usualy takes about 18-25 hours to stick so im changing method
I can’t believe this actually worked
I wouldn’t put out a fake tip!
@@Brant_Moore I know I was real big into BMX in the 90s we used to use hairspray never heard of using alcohol until I saw your video and said let me give it a shot because I picked up a redline And it needed new grips
I got the same grips 😂
They're so good! Feel like odi's but are thicker and softer!
Will hydrogen proxide work
I'm going to try adhesive glue maybe it will waterproof my grips cause sometimes my bike get rained on and get the throttle grip
You could also try keeping it out of the rain
How do you take them off, though lol. That's the harder part/
Didn't have any alcohol, so used a bit of vodka. 😂
Is there an advantage of this method over hairspray?
Once the rubbing alcohol dries there's no residue or anything left over. So if you're going to for the stickiness of hairspray in keeping grips in place, then that may be the way to go. If you're just trying to put them on easy, this may be the way to go.
The easiest way is to build some muscle and just slide it on haha. I've done that all my life until I got some really hard grips. You can try soap, which is the ghettoest method, but it needs to be a microscopic amount. Cheers
can we use rubbing alcohol
That’s what I used in the video
@@Brant_Moore oh
I used wd 40 and it was so easy! I'm in ICU now on a texting machine using my nubs to text this. I did a jump of a 60 ramp, and the grips came off for some reason.
Is that the same as alcohol hand sanitizer?
Maybe in a small amount
does hydrogen peroxide work
Tried this. Put my grip on and did a bunny hop. Grip came off and I broke my arm. But you were right. That extra alcohol did come in handy.
Good now i wont destroy my hands and a question?can you make grips?
You definitely can but I dont know how. Google probably would help more
@@Brant_Moore ok thanks because im trying to make money to buy a new bmx
@@Brant_Moore thanks
@@NGKGMR tennis tape works
@@f1k0v48 ok thanks
you have a bike with no air pump?
What if I get throttle grip
Easiest way is to buy odi lock on grips slid easy
Not everyone likes those and the video would help no one if I had said that.
I'm here because I've broken 3 sets of lock ons and am ready to give push-ons a try.
Thanks for being here!!
Is it normal that it’s been an hour and still is slippery
Probably put too much on
@@Brant_Moore I think I might have because it’s been four hours and I still can hear the squeaky sound because I don’t think the grips I got are that slippery
@@Brant_MooreAlso is there a way to make it dry faster so I can ride it because I still can’t ride it because of the amount I put on
Iv allways used WD40/TF2 to put my grips on \m/
Heard that it works well but can get slick if it gets wet!
If you use hair spray under the grip, if a bit of water gets under it, you get throttle grip straight away not good airline or a track stand pump iv seen peeps use to put grips on :D
Can you use hand sanitizer? It has alchahol lol
I’d guess so! Worth a shot at least! Haha
@Brant_Moore hahaha! You reply really fast thanks
When I can!!
Make sure it’s 90% or it won’t work as well
