A cat panting for no reason is a HUGE red flag. One of mine started breathing through his mouth. Spotted it by accident one night when I was taking paper out of the printer and he was sitting on the shelf above. Took him to our vet first thing in the morning. They ran tests and it turned out he had heart failure. We lost him just over a week later, there was nothing they could do for him. He was only 11 years old. He was a lovely cat, so loving and friendly and always bringing me little gifts. It's 6 years since I lost you Sparky but I'll never forget you. You were so special. I miss you so much 😢
It’s also a massive red flag in humans. It means there’s not enough oxygen getting to the right places. Yikes.
May your lovely Sparky rest in peace💫✨
@@Swiss-s4b He lives on in my heart and memories along with the other cats, dogs and pet snakes I have lost in my lifetime. I believe that one day we will be reunited and what a joyous reunion that will be.
@@Pythonaria I believe so too. I had lost my cat once and I was so distressed (my cat came back) and during that time someone comforted me saying “What is Loved cannot be lost.” for love is eternal.
@@Swiss-s4b Love IS eternal.
It is sad that it took a visit from a trainer to get that poor cat to a VET. If ANY of my animals showed that kind of distress, they would have been to the vet ASAP! BEFORE it took the animal collapsing. GEESH people! Thank you Jackson!
As soon as the owner let the word “hyperventilation” slip…I knew she had seen these symptoms before and didn’t bother to have him checked out. Shame on her! Every cat has physical limits, she should have been aware of what is normal for that cat to prevent mouth breathing. It’s NOT normal!
You are right. But I think she may have been confused because he is so active and energetic all the time. I think she couldn't find anything else in his behavior to corroborate real trouble. She probably wrote it off as excitement or hyperactivity. I may have done the same. Clearly it's more serious.
@@mariarohmer2374 It seems likely to be something he's done after running around loads as opposed to something he does when lying around chilling - otherwise he just quite simply couldn't be hyperactive at all. The first thing that comes up when you look up cats panting after running around is that it's probably normal and to just watch and see if it settles down when they calm down. My 8 month old pants a lot after minimal exertion, he's had multiple xrays and a heart echo now (no cause found for the level of panting) but only because I insisted. I reported it to the vet from when he was 4 months old and the vet said to wait and see because it was only during play - even though I explained it only takes him jumping up twice and that's him panting away. The lady should have definitely brought the cat to the vet as soon as she noticed it but they might not have investigated at that stage.
@@mariarohmer2374 Plus, even the vets couldn't find anything wrong. We have an asthmatic cat, and it took a long time to get him diagnosed as that because he was a stray, and the vets wrote it off as lungworm scarring on his lungs, which would only have been proven or disproven with a really expensive scan, and we knew he didn;t need that, we knew he was asthmatic, but the vets wanted to be right about the lungworm scars.
@@CLangley-yl1fb Oh that's terrible. It's frustrating that along with so many excellent, caring vets. there are a number who aren't. I've had experience with that. We were told our rescue senior FIV needed blood tests totaling almost $1000 and, like you, we just felt it was not needed. It's been almost 5 years and our cat is aging but doing well.
@@mariarohmer2374ridiculous. it’s carelessness on the owner’s part.
She is clearly not a cat person. We can totally see how she is annoyed with normal cat activities. She is willing to give him up. So, yeah, she doesn't deserve him.
Exactly what I was thinking. 😒
@@sillysassysarah Mr. Weasley deserves a loving home. Not her.
The fact she never toke him to the vet when she first seen him doing that just shows how much she really cares that cat needs a new home
She clearly stated that the cat has never done that before.
@@marilynman but she did see the cat panting and still did nothing
@@Aurora57511 She believed that it was because of the exercise, the cat was running, jumping, etc. I've seen cats do that when they over exercise. It would seem strange if the panting occurred when the cat was just chilling, but that never happened. So there is no reason to blame the owner.
@@marilynman and she said the cat was not doing anything to and doing it 3:39 rewatch it the cat is just seating and doing it what exercise just seating?
@@Aurora57511 I don't know about that one, keep in mind that this video is edited hard, we didn't see all what leads to the moment in which she explains that and in what circumstances she has seen it. One explanation is that she sees the cat "chilling" on the table doing that but what nobody knows (even to her) is that the cat has been running around for a while before chilling.
And for that matter, we cannot judge what we cannot see that's why again, we cannot blame the owner.
I'd like to find out what happened with Mr. Weasley. The owner seems off to me, like she's saying the right things, but she's holding back, holding the cat at arm's length. He might very well be better off in a different home
Someone else commented that he had a treatable heart issue I believe but you could say that about any of owners that is on these animal shows. You have to let Jackson and other pet experts a chance to work their magic
Here is another version to this story. This version doesn't include Mr. Weasley collapsing. In fact the whole incident isn't mentioned at all. But it does show the ending so you can see Mr. Weasley was doing great.

Any animal panting is a concern. Rushed my rescue a Maltipoo to the vet for coughing, and breathing weird. He didn’t come home. Heart failure. I thought I would be going home with meds..It was a year ago Sept 11, 2023. Miss him! Adopted a cat and another dog from the rescue! Maltese mix! She is 11…I am 78 and now adopt seniors like me!
I adopted a senior cat too. It broke my heart when he died a year later, but I get a lot of joy in knowing his last year was the best possible year I could give him and he got to die a happy cat.
Persian cats are bracheocephalic with those pushed in noses, so they ARE more prone to panting than other breeds. I think Mr. Weesley was far less active than the owner let on, and just over-exerted himself, because owner didn't know how to properly play with him! Engaged cats will play with you hard for about 15 minutes, then crash, re-boot, snack and play again. Commit to about 45 minutes to an hour of play with your cats per night generally. One of mine started to 'attack' my arm in the middle of the night, really badly--bloody and painful, yet didn't seem to be doing it maliciously. He had been on a diet and lost weight so he'd become more active and we hadn't adequately adjusted his play for his increased fitness level (we thought we did, but he needed more). Once we did, we added an additional 45 minutes of play right before bedtime and presto! No more arm attacks. Cats are trickier to play with than dogs--dogs will tell you they want to play. Cats? They really don't solicit play so obviously, you have to try different things to get them to 'hunt', you have to know your cat and what they like. It's not super-easy or obvious if you don't know. But they are so worth the effort.
That's what I was thinking since he collapsed while Jackson was doing his usual routine
She doesn’t seem very affectionate to Mr Weasley 🤷🏼♀️
I'm very confused why people like this have animals. You can see she has no real connection with that cat. Some people just don't have the capacity to truly love an animal.
How can you see that she doesn't have any real connection with the cat from a 10 minute probably edited video!? 🙄🤦🏼♀️
Pet parents like this do annoy me.
Me too.
Why
Same
A cat panting is a sign of stress. If your cat is panting with no known reason, see a vet immediately.
Turned out he has a heart condition
Two minutes into this my immediate thought is Maybe the Cat is Lonely AF! They are pretty damn social creatures, it's not a house ornament, it's a living thing with a whole emotional spectrum.
Exactly
Totally agree.
Her attitude...., why do you have a cat in the first place? Pets are life long commitments .
Yes. Does not relate to cats.
If you listen it's because he was way too much active and destructive. Jackson even said so himself that his activity level was unusual for his breed
You never give up on your pets!! If you do not have time, don't adopt!!
My cat did that . . . Ended up with a saddle thrombose and died. He wasn’t even 2 years old. 🥹 A vet needs to check out this cat!
Im so sorry Omg our maximus had the same he was only 5 yo sept 2019 had to be pts so awful we miss our grey boy 😢seeing your loving pet like that is truly the worst pain

An owner like this is completely clueless and imho shouldn't have a pet, she said he hyperventilates and said she was concerned but not enough to take him to a vet???
Orange cats are sometimes a little ADHD. I used to have a huge orange fluffy tornado of a cat similar to this one. I ended up having to rehome him, I felt it wasn't fair to such a lively social cat to be a inside cat in a city, plus I work to much so he wasn't getting the attention he So craved . His new owner lives in the country side where their is absolutely No traffic and no big predatory animals at all. He gets to go outside in the day time and he has a new buddy that is a dog. I am so happy how his situation worked out. Their are two teenagers in the home he is at now in and he gets So much attention. I feel like I would have been beyond selfish if I didn't consider what would be the best thing for him. The biggest reason for why I had to rehome him is that he can not be trusted around children under the age of 5. Many years ago when I got him from a rescue he had allot of behavioral problems that got so much better with time. But he used to bite me in the face and so much more. I worked with him and yeah he completely stopped biting. But he still isn't a cat that I would want a very young child to have to interact with. I am now pregnant so this was a heartbreaking decision. But it is what it is.
Theres no way thats the first time just by her reaction

Everyone deals with stress etc differently and some people go into shock and/or just struggle to show/express their true emotions but that doesn't mean that they're not actually feeling anything or that they don't care!
You can't just presume shit like that about a person you don't even know 🙄🤦🏼♀️
So we dont get to find out about him and what happens to him😢
He had to have heart medicine
What did it end up being? Did the radiologist see anything? Is Mr Weasley OK?

Her: I'm really freaking out right now.
Me: You? I had scared him by being over him as soon as he fell, to try to protect him and find out what was wrong.
My cat did exactly this last month, except he had just vomited. I took him to a feline specialist who did a complete neurological work up, took blood, etc and ...there was no definitive answer. Every test was normal. One thing that was mentioned was possibly a vagus nerve response but beyond that, I don't know. He's scheduled to go back next month for a follow up. He's a rescue, 11 yo. Never had anything like this happen before (that I'm aware of), so I am mystified, too.
He is not a Persian or Persian mix. He hasn't had an episode since: very stressful for us both. Best of luck.
Poor baby kitten xxx hope he's okay 👍 xx 😢
He probably wasn't use to all that exercise since the lady said she don't play with him. My cats pant only when they play hard-core
Heart!! Hearts defects easily go undetected.
Only time my 1 year old cat panting was after she had been at the vet and needed a cone and she could run around for 10 days, and when she was free again and run around with her sister, she did that. And it freaked me out, but it was nothing, just a lack of exercise
So what happened to Mr Weasley?
Ugh I hate when they do this! You know people that can't afford to watch this show, to then see a literal Cliff hanger to NEVER know what happens is so annoying.
In the full episode, Mr Weasley turned out fine. If I remember correctly, it was a heart condition of some kind that prevented active play, so Jackson came up with some alternatives that allowed Mr Weasley to activate the hunter part of his brain without being as physical

This is another one of those lures: you're watching a movie and you want to know what's going on... stops the video 😤 I hate that
They put him on heart medication for a heart murmur because the muscle was too thick one one side of his heart
It’s not Jackson’s site 🤷🏼♀️
Not too crazy about Karen. Would not want her to be my cat mommy. She refers to Mr. Weasly as that animal. Not sure I even believe her.
And what's the deal with this video? I mean, Jackson, what is the conclusion?
Heart medicine due to the heart muscle being too thick and blocking blood
The cat had a treatable heart condition and the vet put him on medication
To be fair, it's not in Jackson Galaxy's hands. It is 'Animal Planet India' that put up a small clip from 'My Cat From Hell', which would have been an hour long episode.
But you're right, extremely annoying to be left hanging like that.
Thank you @lisadooley3872 for providing the results for us cat lovers.
Glad Mr. Weasley is doing okay.
Worms can make them pant too 😢
So I know he had a treatable heart condition, but what about the owner’s heart? She “works long days” and the poor thing has been on his own during the long day. Wouldn’t you have a heart and get a flipping mate or a neighbour to pop in? Cats can’t be left for long, esp not with his backstory: they become destructive 😢
A cat with this temperament should NOT be kept indoors. With outside access he would be as happy as Larry.
And collapse in the middle of the road and get hit by a car.... Not safe unsupervised as that cat has a medical condition
@@viperblackjewel3915 Ok... so create a safe space in the garden for him, where he can have lots of space and chase insects / watch the birds etc.

THATS WHY YOU SHE HAVE TWO CATS SO THE ONE ISNT LONELY
A true cat lover ( like me) embraces places where a cat sharpens their claws. I consider it art and evidence of a true cat lover! 😊 I like to think of the fact that if i move, the next person will see the evidence that a true cat lover lived here before they did! 😊
Karen doesn’t need pets
She just needs education. Clearly she wants to do right by him since she called Jackson in
Take Mr. Weasley away from this Karen. She is ready to dump him. She will abandon him. She calls him 'an animal'. She doesn't deserve him.
Yeah I agree 💯 percent
First of all, stop wearing that silly tie on the cat if he's already having trouble breathing.
I get the feeling she wants this cat to get hurt. When she talks about the shelf where there used to be salt and pepper, and then shows that there are now knives left. Okay that he knocked down the cans , but what tells you that falling knives would be okay to leave behind. Accident that she only hope will happen...?
Flat nose? I bet he couldn't breathe right because of that.
Poor kitty

Our maximus had no sign of h c m and saddle thrombus
Ok i stopped at 3:49 because i had to write this down, mam are you stupid? Anxiety? Hyperventilating? And you didn't thought uh, better to check with a VETERINARIAN? for health issues? Cats dont do that out of the blue, or something is happening with his health or he is extremely nervous and stressed to start panting , but that happens in extreme situations not sitting at your house 🤦🏻♀️

Pale gums (sometimes the gums are yellow, indicating jaundice)
Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing.
Increased heart rate.
Weakness or collapse.
Decreased appetite.
you dont know that. honestly he's probably in heart failure or has some kind of respiratory issue. if it was anemia they would have found that immediately in the blood test.
