    It seems people do learn from their mistakes. It might seem trendy to comment the opposite but just see how hard it would be to topple the government in any of the modern powerful nations and you'd understand that we indeed have evolved.
    Modern governments are also more likely to be discrete in exerting their control over people manipulating them to do what they want instead of overt use of force since they've learned from the past what works and what doesn't.
    Sucks for the people anyways since governments are instruments of power and over time they'll only gather more. So a collapse seems imminent but the timeframes have increased

      I get what you're saying, but I'm not so sure. Governments tend to seem very solid until they aren't. For example, no one predicted the collapse of the Soviet Union would and in such a short time span.
