    I think you just introduced to me, the notebook I’ve been searching for, for most of my adult life. I’m 54, & constantly looking for “the perfect notebook”, but never finding it. It’s become a bit of an obsession. But, I think this is finally it. It’s insanely pricey, but honestly, if you added up all the unsatisfactory notebooks I’ve bought till now, I bet it would be $200 ish. Thank you 🙏

    • @KeliFancher

      You're 100% right!
      It's an EXPENSIVE notebook system (but I have spent WAY more in total over the years).
      Did you end up making the plunge?

    I love the look of this! However....that price! Added all the items you have to the cart and it was over $200 for a pocket notebook. Wow.

    • @N33k5
      @N33k5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      But if you look at it as a $200 wallet is it as bad a proposition? The outset is definitely pricey but, the upkeep for a binder style notebook and refillable pen is not nearly so expensive long term. I am sure it will age wonderfully as well.

      @@arcajour4027 ok so maybe it isn't the experience you might value but that doesn't mean it isn't valued experience for someone. A nice notebook might feel frivolous to you but you are not the one using it. Enjoy a cheaper alternative that's fine.

      Took a strip of leather from a journal my mother gave me,
      bought a $5 pocket clip board on amazon (it’s like 3 by 5 inches) bound to the inside of the folded leather with some string I had lying around.
      I store cards and bills behind the clip board against the leather.
      Paper is just a standard piece of printer paper cut into six equal pieces, about the size of index cards.
      Been using almost a year now as a wallet and notebook and it has costed about $12 total between the pocket clip board and a stack of printer paper.
      No need to pay even up into the double digits, let alone triple digits if you experiment and repurpose a little!

    Great review thank you. I've been using the mini 5 as a pocket notebook/wallet for about a year now and I have to say, after searching for a decade for the right pocket notebook, I feel no need to keep searching. This is the notebook of my dreams even after heavy daily use. I use it for ideas, lists, disposable writings, transferable writings, things I need to refer back to. For the most part I just rewrite what I need to save into a bound notebook but I do, at times, just pull the mini page out and stick it into the notebook. I have also paired it with the Liliput BP for the exact reasons you mentioned and again, I feel no need to look for anything else. It's perfect. I go back and forth on using the elastic band but for now I've landed on not using it as it stays shut on it's own, I find it even more accessible without it, and it practically lives in my pocket so I just don't need the extra security. Accessibility, flexibility, and the sheer joy of holding and looking at this notebook have been the most important aspects of this notebook.

    I use the universal Rite In The Rain pocket notebooks (3” x 5”) primarily bc they’re waterproof. Survives work, rain, sweat, weather. They have horizontal lines with an overlay of vertical columns made of dots, making a grid. Write, note, draw. Or if you’re short on kindling, do a purge. 😄Currently using the spiral bound sort that flips up (what moleskin calls a reporter notebook). In theory I’m not crazy about having a spiral piece of metal in my pocket bc it might snag, but practically, unless it got mashed out of shape it hasn’t been a problem. I somewhat prefer the bound notebook more, but I do need to pull out sheets from time to time, so it’s got to be this one. I that like them. 🤷‍♂️

    like many, I have also been questing over the years to develop my ideal notebook + pen + wallet system and have tried the majority of the usual suspects - what I've landed on and have stuck with for the last couple of years is the Galen Leather EDC wallet. I keep a Slim Note notebook in the back behind the leather divider flap, and my debit card and cash on the other side of the flap, then 4 IDs plus a spare ink cartridge in the interior card sleeve. My rotating pocket pen lives in the loop on the outside. One of the best features of this particular wallet is that it is rigid on both sides - one of the most annoying things about many other good wallets made to accommodate a notebook & pen (or vice versa) is the floppiness of the wallet requires a writing surface usually. The EDC wallet is a rather conveniently rigid and comfortable system to write in, surprisingly.

    • @KeliFancher

      Galen Leather makes some really nice stuff, but I haven't used the EDC wallet.

    Idk how you feel about Amazon & I know i'm 4 months behind on seeing this video, but i rock the "Royce Leather Deluxe Note Jotter Organizer" for 2+ years now without fail depending on how big a notebook you need. It takes Mnemosyne A7 notebooks & fits most pocket fountain pens (I personally have a tiny collection of Kaweco Sport, Travelers Brass, Namisu N1, Pilot E95s, Schon DSGN Pocket, Gravitas Pocket, TWSBI Diamond Mini, Moonman Wancai Mini, Franklin Christoph 20p, chinese knockoffs, etc.). Found this post as I was searching for a smaller notebook (smaller than the TN Passport) and it ticks a lot of the boxes. I like the idea of adding only the sheets I need, removing them when finished - either to discard or transfer thoughts to a bigger notebook. Question - does the tight pen holder loosen up a bit after using it for a while? Using the Kaweco Liliput pen because it does fit, albeit snug for now because it’s new.

    I really enjoy Field Notes memo books. I've been using their Daily Carry Leather wallet. Even though I've enjoyed the wallet+notebook combo, I've been itching to try something else. The leather is really high-quality and durable, but after a year of carrying it around, I'm annoyed by the fact that the credit cards and my ids have the vertical pockets stacked on top of each other. This is a typical wallet design, but it doesn't work for a notebook's writing surface. There is a point in the center of the wallet that is 4 cards thick, which makes for an uneven writing surface. I should have went with their "Everyday Inspiration" belroy cover, which has a better design for storing cards.
    I like how the plotter solves this though! I'm interested!

    I‘m carrying a pocket notebook all the time. But I usually carry 3 notebooks with me everywhere I go, one in a5 and two in a6. the one in a6 even follows me around the apartment, because I have ADHD and every door I go through just wipes my working memory completely (if you know, you know ^^). It‘s a Leuchtturm a6 pocket, extremely rugged and no need for a cover. I would love to convert it into a wallet somehow.. but this here is not the solution. If my pocket notebook is full, I need to label and archive it and neither a bunch of loose papers or a box full of tiny field notes would be useful for me.

      @@Shmyrk Hey there! I hope you're doing well! I'm still rocking the Mini 5 as my daily carry notebook and wallet, I absolutely love the combo. I do have a regular Mini (6) size, but I find it too big for a pocket carry or wallet replacement. If you always have a bag it could easily fit in there.
      Well, actually I've tried all the Plotter sizes. The narrow just didn't end up working for me, couldn't find a use case that made sense over another notebook. If you work primarily with checklists then I could see it being useful.
      I use the A5 and Bible on the other hand almost every day. The A5 lives on my desk and sometimes makes my bag if I'm working at a book store or coffee shop for the day. It contains longer writing and daily planning and journalling.
      The Bible is my catch all notebook, it lives in my everyday bag and is what I take almost all longer notes in that aren't on the go and in the Mini 5.
      I haven't found a use for the regular mini yet, but like I said it's a bit too big for me for a pocket carry.
      ********
      I haven't given up on the channel, life just got really busy and I decided that I needed to step away from it as a commitment. Not sure if/when I'll pick it back up, but thank you for the encouragement!

    Lol, I am 40 and have been using the same tri fold former chain wallet since I was in the 6th grade. It's clear vinal with holo and a yellow orange and green daisy on the front with a holo yellow happy face in the middle. I got it from Gadzooks. It is being held together by crystal Gorilla tape. I absolutely love it and will probably ask to be cremated with it. But I love watching these videos for some reason!

    What do you use your watch ultra for?

    • @KeliFancher
      @KeliFancher  ปีที่แล้ว

      I use it mainly for run training and travel. It's overkill for both but the larger screen and better battery life really helps.
      Then only time I really use the "ultra" features though are for multi day backpacking trips.

    use phone or smartwatch voice memo app to voice record your speak aloud ideas when you are out and about. Go home, listen to recording and hand write with pen on A4 notebook journal.

      I would love seeing you next to me in the waiting room at the dentist‘s office, just talking into your watch stuff like: „you know what? I definitely should get the black foil for the sink drainage cover.“ or „is it really that bad to die? I mean you finally get to see, what all these religions are fighting about and I really want to know who got it right..“ or „I really need to call back mom tomorrow, she just tried to call me for the third time this week.“ because those are the things that I jot down or just ask questions and think about stuff in my notebook. 😂

    2 cards and 2 bills? This might work if you're stranded on a small island... not for urban/rural life in 2023

    • @KeliFancher
      @KeliFancher  ปีที่แล้ว

      🤷‍♂️ Works for me.
      The pocket has expanded over time so I can easily fit 4 cards plus a couple of bills in it. They also have a new zipper pouch insert, but that adds quite a bit of bulk.

      Same, if i was OP id just stick my cards on my apple watch and leave them out my planner/wallet. That’s what i do. He could still keep his cash in his plotter.
