THIS is the video I needed! What I love about For Rent is how much it expands how we can make different kinds of homes for our sims, that much more reflect the world I live in (city dweller, apartment dweller). I so vibe with your desire for realism and these are all great suggestions! Also, I have had NO bugs at all with this pack so hopefully that will persuade some people to get it, because the game play is PERFECT!
i actually adore these builds! I crave realism in my game. Always appreciate when i see something in the game that i’ve seen in real life!

The pack and feature is still so new that I'm really on the hunt for apartments that work for different stories, in different worlds and different lot sizes, and a bunch of times I've looked for builds reflecting what I was after on the gallery and had a lot of trouble, so your video is super-helpful.
EA REALLY missed an opportunity for the Home Interior Decorator pack because we should be able to be hired to decorate the apartments since we now have Residential Rentals. Sadly, I have been playing as a Decorator and not once been called to a rental unit :( Even when I put in unfurnished single and duplex homes for rent.

I really like the one at 3:17. It's decorated in a more realistic way. Often builders want to fill space just for the sake of filling space. So you end up with something that look more like an interior design magazine photoshoot rather than something real people will live in.

i figured out you can turn off the unit lines on the top line of ui! the green little box that’s highlighted, you can click that to turn it off. lifesaver bc it was giving me a headache when building😭!

I have this issue where whenever I play the sims 4, I never make my sims move… they live in the same house they grew up until they have children and eventually die of old age or other causes. I think it might be because I had to move so much as a kid, and never had a “childhood” home like most of the people I know did. I envy the idea of being able to stay in one place for more than a couple of years, a stable living situation that doesn’t abruptly change.
Rn I’m thinking about building the apartment building I live in now, and have lived in for over two years now. I haven’t painted, or hung much up, or really done anything to change how the apartment is despite having permission from the landladies… because every now and again I get worried about having to move, what if? Y’know… Maybe in the sims I can change my apartment a little bit, like painting the walls and changing the mirror in the bathroom. Hell, maybe I’ll even paint the cabinets. I was given permission for that too irl but I don’t think I ever will.
I think once you feel settled, you’ll be able to make those personal changes to your apartment. It’s been some time, one step at a time make it persona. I used to be this way.. I’d never hang up photos or decorate because I feared moving again. Just do tiny changes, and one day you’ll wake up to those painted walls ☺️

Besides kitchen & bathrooms, do you Have to furnish the rental units? Or do the tenants bring their own furniture?

i have a question because I don't have the pack yet >< if i just placed the residential apartment, do i have to create or set up a landlord first for me to be able to place a family in one of the units? or will i still be able to place a family on one of the units despite not having a set landlord just yet? i hope my question makes sense lol
no, the game will auto populate a landlord! i made a residential and just moved my sim in from the manage worlds, etc
however, if you want certain rules set, etc then yes - have any sim buy the residential rental and set the rules and lease amount :)

You have to download it using the link provided (the creator only uploaded the tray files) 🤍
Heyy Oshin, I can’t find ssadmartiann’s Newcrest apartments on the gallery. Their name doesn’t even pop up
You have to click the link I provided in the description, and under the newcrest apartments click the link, it’ll bring you to the creators tumblr where they uploaded their build tray files. Download it and put the tray files in your Tray folder in The Sims 4 folder. You’ll see it in your gallery once you load up the game :)

You must visit the link in the description ;) if the name of the apartment has a link under it you have to go to the creators page and download the tray files for that apartment
Some creators do not upload in the gallery but do upload the actual tray files for their build

i play in them, but i wasn't a fan of owning rentals. i enjoy renting and multi unit properties. haven't visited the new world since i've had early access. it's a pack that i'd get if it was on sale and mainly for the multi-unit rent feature.

@@oshinsimsyes I tried to place the new Whole Foods build by Simkoos in map view I had to force exit game and then when I placed it in build mode it loaded in seconds

It's so annoying that rr lot types can't be placed easily like the others. And that converting to regular lots with sims living there is impossible. I don't like it. Feels like less freedom to change things in manage worlds. Ugh

Some of the homes you need to download and place in your tray folder (some creators do not upload on the gallery and only upload the files for there builds)

What is there to fix? It keeps confusion at bay between residential and residential rentals. I thought you could not place a nightclub on a residential lot either! if that's true then what is the difference. Rentals are a business really! Whether your sim owns it or a mysterious/NPC owns it. Rent has to be paid. P.S. You have a beautiful voice. A far cry from all the other animated sim bloggers with the squeaky voices that they believe are engaging
