We were inseparable companions, like Calvin and Hobbes. Her death has been a huge blow for me and I still haven't fully accepted the reality that she is gone. I still think that whenever I go back home she will still be there to greet me like she always did. The day she was cremated I had a dream about her. I was going up some wooden stairs and I see a dog that looked just like her. We both stare at each other for a moment, trying to figure out if we were really who we thought we were, like two friends who stumble upon each other after a lifetime. As soon as we realise who we were, we rushed to meet. She was overflowed with joy, not being able to stay still for a moment, always running around me and jumping. And I? I was whole once again. it mazes me how much his music touches my heart and soul. So many times ive listened to huis songs and felt like they were written directly for me and how each time i find a different meaning to his songs. simply amazing. I think he has gotten so many people through good times and bad times. He has the ability to reach into everyone personally.
I agree. Bruce performs for no less than 3 hours (in my experience at a concert of his in Milwaukee WI long ago) and I hope I'm alive to him him "alive" again.
When and if Springsteen goes on tour I'm going to be there no matter where or the cost even if have to sale my house. My bucket list just contains one thing to see Bruce one last time..
I'm 21 this year, and no matter what I will remember this song for the rest of my life, I know if my mom was still here she would be crying in tears because of this, Bruce springsteen is absolutely amazing I've listened to him all of my life, it's crazy I remember being 16 and walking into my English teacher (Mr Pennys) class for the fist time to see his poster of springsteen on the wall, I laughed at him telling him my mom loved Springsteen and he just smiled and said how could we not love a man that talented.
Great story, good guy, your teacher! I am a teacher (business administration/ economics /IT) as well - and I love The Boss since I dont know when. Your mom up there surely is still proud of you Michelle! Love from Germany! (BTW: Jaeger is a german name, means hunter ;-)
Thank you so much Anrheiner111, my mom use to tell me my father was born in Germany, I've never met him though so I don't know the details, but I do hope to one day find out some more about my family background especially if I have family in Germany, that would be amazing O.O
- For millions of people around the world his masterpiece is the soundtrack to their lives. For decades. - For millions of people his music has been vital in their everyday lives. - For millions of people he still gives faith in humanity. - For millions of people he gives a positive image of the USA in the world (for the rest of world). - He's an artist recognized as a legend but always available to meet fans - He is an international treasure
This song is great, one of the greatest of the last decades. Bruce will never get old, he is the young side of our lives, I look forward to see him again on the road... I have his face tattooed on my leg, his music always in my brain and his soul in my heart.
What a beautiful, moving song. Yes, it's about Danny, Clarence and all the other people associated with the E Street Band who are no longer with us, but it's also a meditation on the fact that Bruce is the only remaining living member of his teenage band, The Castiles, and it's particularly in tribute to lead singer George Theiss, who died relatively recently, and who Bruce visited in his final days. "Ghosts" is one of Bruce's finest songs, and a fitting monument to those who have departed.
If you're a 65 year old drummer who grew up playing with your childhood musician friends...2 of whom I still play with...others we've lost...can't get through this son without the tears...brilliant!!!
This comment will fade to the back of the pack but Danny Federici was my uncle. Losing him so many years ago was one of the hardest things I have ever gone through but I always know I can throw on an e street record and he is back in my home again. Tours just arent the same without seeing him up there. I really appreciate the times that Bruce brings him back to us too, like in this video. Thank you Boss
dan will never fade gracie, i live in uk,went to the infamous concert at madison sq gardens when they sang "41 shots" got it on double cd, "land of hope and dreams"
The song is young, but the hands and the mind that made it are as old as music itself. There is joy here and there is pathos. It's real, like everything Bruce has brought into being and put out to the world.
Close your eyes and imagine, that when this is all over, going to that first show on the E Street Tour. Opening with this, then right into Badlands. What a cathartic moment that will be. This old man will have tears in his eyes. I pray that we are all still here.
Ohh man, yes.... Ghosts, followed by a few seconds of Bruce's distorted guitar, open chords, and then the familiar 'One-Two' followed by Max's thunderous tom intro...!
This has to be the opener for the next tour. Absolutely has to. Imagine 50,000 people screaming "I'm alive!" together after we make it through this shitstorm.
When Bruce released Western Stars a few years back I was stunned a man of his years could reinvent himself and produce such an amazing album. Now I’m stunned again. The best. The end.
Sometimes Bruce Springsteen captures the zeitgeist of who we are. Ghosts, which sounds like the best rock and roll song you never heard, is one of those moments. Amid the fast and almost joyous anthem of being alive is the pain of having lost part of ourselves when we lose those who helped make us who we are. Listen and remember those no longer here and those who still stand with you.
Saw him in 84 in Detroit right after Born In The USA was released. It was an indescribable experience - 4.5 hrs standing on a folding chair on the floor of Joe Louis Arena
Thank you Bruce, not only is this a great song, but you have hit on a topic that not many have tried to put into words. That feeling that the ones we loved, never stop their influence and inspiration. That feeling of them always around us. That knowing we are better because of their spirit still living through us. I am 56 years old, and can count on one hand the songs that moved me so immediately from the first listen. This song is running through and sending shivers through my veins. The timing of its message of hope and feeling alive while honoring those hard lost members of our closest circles. Genius my friend and exactly what we all need. Once again your story brings me to tears. Love and peace to you.
Wow! This is from the heart! This is such a moving way to honor the people that you cherish and love who have gone before us, but their spirits keep helping us live.As from a song in "Wicked"....So much of me is made of what I learned from you, you'll be with me like a handprint on my heart and now whatever way our stories end I know you have rewritten mine by being my friend.....And because I knew you,I have been changed for good. Thanks for the reminder that we always have support out there! Love your music Bruce
A while back someone asked me what with all the terrible shit going on how you can be even remotely happy and I said well, Springsteen has a new album coming out so there’s reason for optimism. True then, true now.
Dynamic, dramatic, philosophical, spiritual Bruce, on life, with all the power and rock n roll regalia of the E Street Band-Music still has a heartbeat.
Me too.....still wondering about all the reasons for my tears......I think I've got it. Music is me, it's life and breath for me. This one by Bruce nails the joy, the magic of music and just life..........and loss. I'll never forget this one.
This man, this band is an absolute legend. What better time to celebrate being alive and I'm here for it, all day. There will be stumbling blocks, some very bad days, hard times. This seesaw called life goes up and down, but we gonna stay on it and ride out the highs and the lows and continue to LIVE every day. Count your blessings and try to be a blessing to someone else. Come on, let's celebrate being ALIVE.
This song is EVERYTHING. Bruce is EVERYTHING. He is not only the soundtrack of our lives, he is the pulse that keeps our hearts beating and the poet that brings clarity to our minds.
In 1975 it was said he was the future of rock n roll, he was embarrassed ran all over london pulling down the posters. Well put those posters back up. 2020 a year so strange ,people isolating countries ruled by reality stars and a 71 year old man writes a tune that sounds like this truly this is the future of rock n roll .
The Boss has got to be one of the greatest musicians off all time. He has been staying relevant and making new music continually since the 1970's. Who else has done that?
It was 1974 at Harvard Square in Cambridge, Ma "I saw Rock and Rolls future and it's name is Bruce Springsteen"Jon Landau. He was angry in London because he did'nt like it that posters said"Finally london is ready for Bruce Springsteen". There was enormous pressure put on Bruce while he was making Born to Run, he had to have a hit record to show the record company that he was a successful musician. He was!!🎶🎸🎶
I love this song so much! It's that gorgeous hook of those harmonies in the chorus, topping off that insanely addictive, infectious, repitious riff! Bruce just keeps creating the most beautiful music. This is just the 2nd time I've heard the song, so I haven't even begun to delve into those wonderful "Bruce" lyrics yet. I'll check in again after a few more hours of binging on the musical parts! What a song!
This is my favorite Springsteen and E St Band song. I can't believe this was recorded live in 5 days in his home studio with all the musicians and vocals, everything completely live.🗯️🙌 Bravo. 🤎 For my 21yr old daughter who took her life in 1999. She's my light. She's my spirit that moves through the night. 💜💙
De Sledge - You have been dealt Fate's most cruel blow. Losing a child is unquestionably the WORST thing that can ever happen to anyone. Suicide makes it even worse, (as if I could be any worse.) We all expect to bury our parents; but no one should EVER have to say goodbye to their child. She is still with you-
Bruce is unbelievable he's the greatest of all time no one else has ever come close to being as good especially at his age unbelievable he still rocks with the best of them.
The song brings me to tears , even though it’s joyful! I was in a jazz band for 10 years, when we suddenly lost our leader to an illness. It was very hard to take. We reformed the band recently, and his spirit is right there in the room with us.
I was literally thinking „I know the Big Man is dead, but this song needs a sax“ just seconds before Jake started playing. Thank you Bruce, thank you E-Street Band, thank you all...
I love this song. What seems to me odd about the video is that it has so little of Clarence Clemons in it. He was such an integral and beloved member of the E Street Band, there’s got to be thousands of hours of concert video to pull from, why so little of him?
When we were all happy , we had dreams to fulfill and loved ones with whom we shared those dreams . Bruce describes our lives with his songs. Thank you so much, Boss !!!!
I'm not going to lie...I have an unhealthy obsession with Bruce. This is classic Bruce. A song that makes you smile and feel good from the intro to the closing notes. I love the old footage. Anyone else reminded of We Take Care of our Own on the opening drum sequence? I cannot wait until I can see him live in concert again.
GOD, I needed this song in these troubled times! Bruce, I sincerely pray that you (and the rest of the band of course) stay alive for many years to come! God bless you all, YOU ROCK!
@Shane Jones I would say through Tunnel Of Love, Bruce was as great as anyone ever, but since then in my opinion, his work has not been as good or as interesting as Dylan's,McCartney's,Costello'sBowie's or a lot of other greats. I think though this one has a helluva lot of promise.
This song resonated with my soul - for all those who have gone before us. So much loss this year - you don't have to be in a band to understand the meaning behind this amazing song. It is in my head and won't let go. I lost my son in 2012 in a fire, he was only 24, my only child. I think about him, knowing he is a spirit that lives in my spaces, in my head, in my heart. I honestly can't wait see him on the other side. Seriously one of the best songs Bruce has even done.
This is fantastic! Bruce captures the incomparable feelings and sounds of rock thru the years, all in one song. I"m so glad I lived long enough to hear this one! Holy shit!! I"m one month older than Bruce.....exactly! (Yesterday, 9/23/20, Bruce hit 71 yrs. of age). Tears of joy from this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uepa! Starting the day with Bruce and a new song is heaven! Let´s see (and hear) what The Boss has for us after his 71st birthday. Waiting and waiting and waiting...
71 years young and still sounding good, still relevant. The older I get, the more I appreciate his music. Springsteen (like Mellencamp) never lost sight of why his music resonates with his fans: he writes not for himself, but for us.
I am a 29 years old brazilian man just getting to really know Bruce's work. It's clear now why he's called the Boss. I cried tears of joy with this song. Thank God we are Alive!
It took me a couple of listens to realize the greatness of this song. The guy is 71. He is no longer singing about breaking free and being a man and not a boy. He is singing about age and loss and death and he’s still finding joy and triumph. See the guy sitting with Bruce at 0.39. That’s George Theiss. His death is what inspired this entire album. It’s comforting to know that Bruce can still achieve greatness at this point in his career. It’s hard for a legend to compete with his own legacy.
Yes Bruce is alive. He makes me feel alive as well. This is phenomenal. It reminds me of why I love Springsteen. It's powerful and inspirational. It's a little little Radio Nowhere. But better. This would be great to open a concert.
I am so very sorry for your loss and also jealous as hell of your 51 year relationship . All I ever wanted in this life was a wife and kids . I had both for a while but the wife turned out to be less than I had hoped for but my daughter is the most precious thing I have ever had ! And now I have 2 grandkids that I adore . Life goes by so damn fast , enjoy and appreciate everything in it while you can , trust me on this one . I hope everyone can have a wonderful life and love what you have in it , you never know when it may end . Take care everyone and may God bless you , forever ! Peace ☮️ .
A really close uncle of mine recently lost the battle againts cancer. He loved Bruce Springsteen, if he had the opportunity he'd never miss the chance to go to a concert. This particular song was played during his funeral, I will never forget it just as I will never forget him.
Even by Springsteen standards this song is AWESOME! So looking forward to hearing the rest of this album, and hoping to see you all in a venue near me when all this chaos is behind us.
Breathtaking, wonderful. What a positive and strong energy. What a true living legend. Better than 99,999% of the music you can hear today in the radio
What a great celebration of living and tribute honoring our friends moved on. We will see you all again "on the other side". I am looking forward to this album so much!! As usual, many thanks Mr. Springsteen.
This is one of his best rock anthems of his career. If this had been released in the 80's, it would have shot to #1. Unfortunately, in the post-rock era, it was barely noticed.
Apparently people would rather listen to nihilistic trash about getting hammered on a weekend or a one night stand, its usually something trite and shallow.
It's as though he's integrated his losses and grief so fully and skillfully that they've become catapults into the energetic, joyful gratitude for life that's on display here. I haven't figured out how to do that - yet. This song gives me hope.
I found this so moving. Leave it to Bruce to keep the tradition of great artists who reflect on the past, but with the vitality and joy of their younger selves. In this particular time, the simple words "I'm Alive!" from these lyrics say so much and as usual, Bruce's specifics become universal. Someday in concert this song will have many of us dancing, but not a few of us with tears in our eyes.
I think it was 1975 or 76 when I stood in a an amusement park in Morecambe listening to Born To Run on an old jukebox for the umpteenth time. Ghosts brings back the goosebumps I used to get way back then. Thanks Boss.
I‘m really not a fan of Bruce Springsteen, but I have to admit, that he‘s definitely still on fire and capable to write relevant songs. Nothing new, but simply fantastic. That man just turned 71...unbelievable. Thanks for making such great stuff through all those years. As I mentioned...I‘m not a fan, but I bow down to him for being such a great...great artist, who gave the world so much with his songs.
It shows the appeal of Springsteen that at 71 he can attract comments like yours. I have been a fan for many many years. If you get the chance you should go and see him play live, with the virus who knows if he will tour again. The two tunes he has released so far from his new album are up there with some of his best.
He is the best I grew with his music and my daughter with 21 is already a fan my son with 16 is like you starting to be a fan :) greetings from Portugal
And this, my friends, is the power of rock'n'roll, coming from real musicians... Joy, tears, pain, jokes, memories, light... All together mixed in a shot through your heart... An yes, this old man is STILL the future of rock'n'roll. Eat this Bad Bunny...
We all know that rock music will remain for ever. Songs like Ghosts and musicians like Bruce Springsteen, will never die in our hearts and mind. Dont even mention shit acts like Bad Bunny or the some many others alike of these days. Not worthy at all...
I think this is my favourite song to come out of 2020. Bruce, you have kept your roots in rock and I thank you for never changing. It’s so good to hear saxophone in a song again. REAL instruments being played. Love ya Bruce!
This absolutely stands as, and with some of the greatest songs he's ever written. The fact that he can still create something this great is....amazing. It has that anthem sound of a song that leaves no one alive....

I literally could not love this man more than I do. My son said, "Mom, I'm worried about what will happen to you if something happens to Bruce Springsteen." Lol! Legit concern. Happy late bday, Bruce!!
Day he goes something in all of us will die too
Ditto....,we can't ever think of that!!!!
I call him my music dad. ♡
Let’s not get morbid!
@@snoutyman , oh no, I don't want to think about it at all so to me, 'something happens' means just not playing any more music. :) Anything else is unthinkable.
I'm 31 and I'm hearing the E-Street Band for my whole life. And he saved my life more than once. This band will be my all time favorite 4-ever... till the day I die. THANK YOU, BRUUUCE and greetings from Germany to you all! 💪😎💚💎
it mazes me how much his music touches my heart and soul. So many times ive listened to huis songs and felt like they were written directly for me and how each time i find a different meaning to his songs. simply amazing. I think he has gotten so many people through good times and bad times. He has the ability to reach into everyone personally.
32 year old here 🙋🏽♀️and I feel your comment in my blood!
I'm 66 and been listening to him since 1973. He's helped me get through some really hard times. Will always be my favorite.
Here as well! 31 years old and still proud to have grown with him! :)
This song is going to be legendary live, when we can scream I'M ALIIIIIVE in a packed concert.
I agree. Bruce performs for no less than 3 hours (in my experience at a concert of his in Milwaukee WI long ago) and I hope I'm alive to him him "alive" again.
When and if Springsteen goes on tour I'm going to be there no matter where or the cost even if have to sale my house. My bucket list just contains one thing to see Bruce one last time..
hello... will he ever be on stage again?
I'm not sure...
time is over.
an acoustic session maybe?
well... let's wait and see.
Tickets are already being scooped up, at least in Europe. The lottery begins here July 17. Bruce is back.

"I'm alive". That's how I feel listening to this track. Love having that classic E Street Band sound again
- For millions of people around the world his masterpiece is the soundtrack to their lives. For decades.
- For millions of people his music has been vital in their everyday lives.
- For millions of people he still gives faith in humanity.
- For millions of people he gives a positive image of the USA in the world (for the rest of world).

This song is great, one of the greatest of the last decades. Bruce will never get old, he is the young side of our lives, I look forward to see him again on the road... I have his face tattooed on my leg, his music always in my brain and his soul in my heart.
I have lyrics of 4 Bruce songs on my skin. I have a portrait of his iconic fender, and a portrait of him!
@@krystalsalazar3148 I've got a few lyrics from various songs I planned to get inked...until the pandemic shut down our studios. Soon, soon...
@Marylou Cooling maybe, but in one day of his life has given more beauty to the world than you in entire life
@Marylou Cooling he's 71 and works out every day. If that's the "brink of death" then I don't know what isn't.
Yes, and he punctuates it again with the track "Last Man Standing" on the same album.
Sorry for your loss, OfficiallyGracie. Glad there's a part of him still ringing out for you.
Not lost, no Gracie. Not in this crowd. I'm so sorry.
Phantom Dan the man!
of course your pain is difficult to cope with, but I just want to say that us fans miss him too
dan will never fade gracie, i live in uk,went to the infamous concert at madison sq gardens when they sang "41 shots" got it on double cd, "land of hope and dreams"
Me, too, my dear.
This has to be the opener for the next tour. Absolutely has to. Imagine 50,000 people screaming "I'm alive!" together after we make it through this shitstorm.
Truth!
Woooow... That would be fucking AWESOME!!!
So. Much. Truth.
I bet you are right
Fits perfectly
I was thinking the same thing!
When Bruce released Western Stars a few years back I was stunned a man of his years could reinvent himself and produce such an amazing album. Now I’m stunned again. The best. The end.
as surprising as it may seem, western stars was less than 2 years ago
Amen
Sometimes Bruce Springsteen captures the zeitgeist of who we are. Ghosts, which sounds like the best rock and roll song you never heard, is one of those moments. Amid the fast and almost joyous anthem of being alive is the pain of having lost part of ourselves when we lose those who helped make us who we are. Listen and remember those no longer here and those who still stand with you.
Spot on
Nailed it!!
Joy, beautifully said, putting into words the things that were just out of my reach. Thanks.
Exactly..
Well said!
Living legend - it's simple as that
Long live the BOSS

The voices of Bruce and Little Steven together again is Magic👍👍
This song is EVERYTHING. Bruce is EVERYTHING. He is not only the soundtrack of our lives, he is the pulse that keeps our hearts beating and the poet that brings clarity to our minds.
Just blew me away as the 2nd opening song in Cleveland! What a great song!!
A wonderful birthday gift from Bruce. A wonderful piece !!!
So true
Cheap shot
Wrong! It was said... He is Rock and Rolls future! There is a difference. Written by Jon Landau, his 'now' Manager.
Great song and amazing chorus.
The power of The E Street Band.
Bruce see you on the road....and live.
Great...great...great....song!
I so sorry, I know what it’s like. My son left in 2004.

She is still with you-
Going on 40 plus years of being a fan! I am 52, I remember winning Springsteen’s albums or tapes at Jenkinson’s beach in NJ

Saw The Boss LIVE in Tampa Feb 1st. Second song. The arena went crazy as did I. The Legend has come back, thank God!!!
I was literally thinking „I know the Big Man is dead, but this song needs a sax“ just seconds before Jake started playing.
Thank you Bruce, thank you E-Street Band, thank you all...
Rest in love Clarence🙏🏿
One of the greatest artists of our century.
Each of his songs makes you tremble and makes you rejoice.
A big hug from Italy
See you soon
The absolute best tune on the new album. This one certainly speaks to me and captures the power of Bruce.
GOD, I needed this song in these troubled times!
Bruce, I sincerely pray that you (and the rest of the band of course) stay alive for many years to come!
God bless you all, YOU ROCK!
Bruce still has it, and probably won't ever lose it.
Agree!!!
A most amazing icon
This hit me as the most powerful song he's done since Tunnel of Love.
The more I listen to this it sounds reminiscent to the Born To Run Days. Maybe a little bit Tunnel Of Love sound but more Born To Run.
Thank you for a lifetime of fabulous music. Thanks for creating some of the greatest rock n roll music the world has enjoyed Mr. Springsteen.
Please accept my deepest condolences. Very sorry.
That's it. Great lyrics, nostalgia, guitars: the Boss is alive and rocking!
This is up there alongside Bruce's best work. Absolutely phenomenal.
Simplemente el mejor. El jefe.
This cannot be more AMAZING
71 years young and still sounding good, still relevant. The older I get, the more I appreciate his music. Springsteen (like Mellencamp) never lost sight of why his music resonates with his fans: he writes not for himself, but for us.
John C Mellencamp cant hold a candle
"I CAN FEEL THE BLOOD SHEVER IN MY BONES"
Me too, Bruce.
Me too...
Thanks. I'll love whit all the madness in my soul.
Yes Bruce is alive. He makes me feel alive as well. This is phenomenal. It reminds me of why I love Springsteen. It's powerful and inspirational. It's a little little Radio Nowhere. But better. This would be great to open a concert.
I still love this video. I lost my husband last April - we were married 51 years and he is my love forever~

I am so very sorry for your loss and also jealous as hell of your 51 year relationship . All I ever wanted in this life was a wife and kids . Bruce has just gifted us all a brilliant tune there. 36 years burning down the road. I love this man. Always will.
Even by Springsteen standards this song is AWESOME! So looking forward to hearing the rest of this album, and hoping to see you all in a venue near me when all this chaos is behind us.

👍 agreed
Apparently people would rather listen to nihilistic trash about getting hammered on a weekend or a one night stand, its usually something trite and shallow.
Rock is still going strong; its legacy radio and TV that’s dying
It's as though he's integrated his losses and grief so fully and skillfully that they've become catapults into the energetic, joyful gratitude for life that's on display here. I haven't figured out how to do that - yet. This song gives me hope.
I found this so moving. Leave it to Bruce to keep the tradition of great artists who reflect on the past, but with the vitality and joy of their younger selves. In this particular time, the simple words "I'm Alive!" from these lyrics say so much and as usual, Bruce's specifics become universal. Someday in concert this song will have many of us dancing, but not a few of us with tears in our eyes.
not so few...
This song punches you right in the heart. Pure excellence.
