I just want to spend one day talking to Robert ... Listening to Good old music, chimping the blues, and just having a good old time. Robert crumb is still one of my heroes
well, good luck with that! robert, as I know him just, isn't a talkative kinda guy he's a nice soul but he likes to keep to himself I would suggest not mentioning the cartoonist part he met some crazy ass fans in the past so he doesn't do autographs on an album or comics covers a good intro would be if you are a 78rpm record collector and like weird-ass old music uh, as I do! more favors can be achieved if you actually play an instrument mine is the harpsichord way out of his time range but he found it amusing I also collect old wind-up phonographs closer to his alley and I collect weird 78rpm formats like records with strange holes Aretino records that a slim person's arm could wear as a bracelet or busy bee records with a standard round hole and a square one AKA bring some record-ology knowledge to the conversation. personally, I think he might have the Aspergers syndrome part of the autistic spectrum like me! making him socially slightly inept like me he answers all the calling cards as do I, and eerily similar to Crumb he has drawn all his life so did I, I even did for Egmond the European Disney comic company from 1995 to 2010 when rheumatism shut that down and I am a hermit in away too many folks and I'm out of there unless I'm on stage. I collect 78-rpm records and phonographs as mentioned before, I have a fascination with antique pop art artifacts so does crumb so, having the meeting was a cinch for me, for other folks it was a hell of being discarded on the side! crumb ain't an easy person to approach out of the blue! without anything to catch his interest. like I said before Robert Crumb isn't a bad person he's just very reserved and careful as he should be! (remember john Lennon!) beyond that, he's a gentile puppy! that will talk for hours!! when he's loose and in his element and if not... not a word! so my advice to the wild... and the public at large would be to leave Robert alone and not visit him or contact him in any way just steer clear and please just let the guy be.
Great music from a much better era. I own most or all of their records. Defiantly also check out Robert's early recordings with his Cheap Suits. Wonderful music, Thanks.
