As far as the monster under the bed goes, I prefer using the Starry Starry Night Light. Not only does it look better but besides keeping the monster away it gives kids a Comforting Light happy moodlet.

I didn’t even know about these night lights until this video! It’s not in the “kids” section, they keep them in the “lighting” section, so I never seen them lol. I just had a baby in my new household and immediately used the night light.
For the nightlight when I build a base game house is just size it down Lmao

You can also as a child become friends with the monster under the bed and ask it to leave, especially fun if you do like a challenge where your kid has to fend for itself.

I have a funny story about the tragic clown.
I was playing with my brother’s family on the sims 1. One of the children died due to a fire. (I might’ve put her in a enclosed room and had her set off a firework 😏) I thought the father of the child was so depressed, he started to wearing a clown suit and walked around, crying. I found out later that the father was at work 😂😂
Yeah I was playing a family recently that I was super invested in. Young couple, brand new baby, dad was progressing through the astronaut career which is new for me I was excited about it. Iv played for years but for some reason never chosen this career path. He has a rocket out back which he was taking trips in, everything was going well he was nearly at the top of his game and one night he went to the toilet. Sat on the pan and died from hysterically laughing ….. I was less than amused! Fast forward his baby boy has grown up, got married and is working his way through the astronaut career so I can finally see how it goes 😂
I had a family. A dad his daughter and new wife. The wife and hubby had a baby girl as the dad's first child was a teen. The teen died of embarrassment a few days after the new baby was born. I was so upset.

That’s so sad, yet so funny. Btw, did you not want to play your sim as a ghost? Shortly after I got the Sims 4, my sim died while he and his S.O. were on vacation. Poor guy burst into flames from those pesky fireflies. Anyway, I brought him back as a ghost since he had 3 kids back at home waiting for him.
My legacy family I’m super invested in has a tragic death also. Parents had 6 kids. At the time they had 4 adult kids, they all went out to dinner and the youngest adult kid (it was her birthday dinner btw), died of laughter right in the restaurant. It is highly upsetting when your sims die and you’re not the one that killed them lol
This games made my sim die 3 times in a row from laughter after maybe 3 or 4 hours of game, my sim was still a young adult and had no job, this is completely random.. hopefully i save very often so everytime i reloaded my savegame.
I’ve been using the baby gender thing for awhile now and today I wanted my Sim family to have a girl so I made her eat strawberries and listen to pop. It has always worked for me. So color me shocked when my Sim gave birth to not just one boy, but two! My Sims never have twins! And the one time I just wanted this family to have one girl, they have two boys 🙃

Mine barely works. My sim is doing it now and only gets like $12-15/day which makes no sense. She’s a 5 star celebrity with millions of followers and is at the top of her acting career but only makes $10 a day from her brand? Please. It’s a joke.

I just use MCCC to turn the monster under the bed off. I never knew there were ways in the base game to avoid the monster though, so that's cool to know.

These pregnancy cheats make me laugh so hard at myself when I started playing. My FIRST sim household had triplets from her first pregnancy.... I had no idea how rare that was😂😂😂
Me too?! I didn’t understand and thought my game was glitching when it asked for the name cause I typed it and clicked the check and it kept popping up so I accidentally named them all the same name 💀

I only had it happen once and I wasn't even trying to get triplets. It actually ruined my playthrough because it was just too many kids.
I wasn’t using any cheats on pregnancy cause I don’t know how and still ended up with triplets 🤦🏼♀️

I always change the colour of my sims' phones. I think it adds to their personalities and also I don't really like the default one
Same! I like doing that when I've established what their favourite colours, I think it adds to their personalities too.
Bubble baths are the best way to get a base game hysterical death, especially if you have a goofball or clumsy Sim as they get random playful moodlets. I legit had a Sim get hysterical because he was in the bubble bath (which I did not tell him to take) and he completed his resolution because he got promoted. He went from Very Playful to Hysterical and died as soon as he got out of the tub. Laundry is another way to get both high angry and playful moodlets. Wet laundry will make them angry and warm dry clothes give a playful moodlet. Both have caused death for me before. I've only ever had one death from embarrassment and that was a teen who aged up during my 100 baby challenge. It still counted, though since he died as an adult. Also, there is an extreme playful moodlet that child of the island sims get when they observe Sulani's culture. It lasts forever and does not go away; it's so strong that even the potions you get from the reward store don't help. This also caused a death in my career legacy gameplay.
That and once they are in a happy mood, make funny faces in the mirror. My sim was a goofball and made funny faces in the mirror and went from happy to hysterical in less than a sim hour. After I stopped them from making the funny faces, they died. Luckily they had a death flower in their inventory.
Ye-eah, this is why I turned off emotion deaths. It is annoying as I actually like the concept, but I find it (and weather deaths) to fast and easy to get.

Me and my mom have been playing the sims since I was very young. She introduced the Sims 3 to me when I was 6, and since then we have both come together to appreciate the game. Around two weeks age, my mom ended up killing her sim with kindness- The sim had just gotten engaged, then married, had a wonderful New Years and completed her resolution. I believe it had also experienced it's first kiss, as well as woohoo'd in the shower very well for the first time. She became absolutely erratic and giggled herself to death. We own almost every Sims 4 expansion, and have both been playing for over 14+ years, so It was a big surprise to find out they can just die from too much emotion.
Honestly, I think it sucks that Sims can die so easily.

@@hummingbird11 compared to the older sims games Sims 4 is really damn easy. But I understand how some parts are really annoying for no reason. We never expected an emotion explosion XD

I've had far too many sims die to being hysterical. I've gotten very lucky in my legacy that every time it's happened, I've had very confident sims around that were able to successfully plead for their lives. I sometimes just straight up turn the emotional deaths off with MCCC though 😂
I have MCCC, how do you turn off the emotional deaths? I can’t find where! 😩
It's in the Tuner menu! Just click "allow emotional death" and it'll let you turn it off.

PSA!!! Coollala is NOT foolproof! The wall light DOES significantly decrease monster appearances, but doesn't do away with them completely!

sometimes if you have auto lights enabled it will be turned off. it has to be on

SylviesSylk, I agree. I always put the night light in the children's rooms. It's a hit & miss though.
I didn’t know they still had the tragic clown painting! That little Easter egg has been around since the first sims, and I think it’s so odd lol
Funny thing, just half an hour after watching this, my Sims are on their honeymoon in sulani and one of the ends up dying of laughter... I was able to ressurect him cause his husband bought a bunch of death flowers when he became a Spellcaster. It wasn't even the first time this sim died though! He was crushed by a Murphy bed while a teen and his brother pleased with grim to ressurect him. This was also my first day motional death in years of playing too...
I've never been to the hidden locations. I did find the tree on a jog to find things in-world to dig up, but didn't stick with it. I really should one day.
I can not stress enough about HOW MANY TIMES MY SIMS DIE OF LAUGHTER OH. MY. GOD.
there's also an entrance in forgotten hollow that looks like it should have a hidden world in it but doesn't. i wish they'd implemented it, it really looks like they were planning to but changed their mind for whatever reason
I found the death flower from the rare seed packages. And I learned about the night light after my twin sims would get woken up every night by the monster
I give all the children double beds and the monster never appears, I think the game considers them adult beds but hey I never get a monster when they use a double bed.
I did not know about the Tragic Clown, and I've been playing since the game came out! WOW! Thank you! I also didn't know about the trash can.
There is also a cool sign in wall hanging that have Sims remove shoes when they enter the house 😀 Tresheff

I’ve never actually seen that light before. In my children’s rooms, I usually use the one from parenthood. It does the same exact thing as the one she used, but in my opinion, I think it’s prettier.

The death flower. I'm pretty sure you can purchase one from the shopping area in the Magic realm world. Alchemy supplies stalls. Very expensive, but what is a sim-life worth???
Yes, you can purchase some death flowers. It's an ingredient for the immortality potion. Also, you can plant them and harvest a lot of them. Better to plant in a sheltered area when you have seasons. Normally, they bloom only during the winter.
Spellcasters can also create Death Flowers using the Herbio Spell. ICR, but I believe a medium to high charge helps.
@@Robert_Burnell-Jones Yes, but it relies strongly on chance as Herbio spawns plants randomly.
@@Kualinar True enough, but you're guaranteed to get some if you do it enough - as in, 10-20 times (approx I think). I consistently made tons of money from growing Death Flowers before I got Seasons.

I had a very happy, just married sim die a hysterical death because all the happy moodlets amplified their one playful moodlet. I think that one is probably to easiest death of the three emotional deaths.
A sim can also die of excessive laughing, which I found out by accident - one time I loaded my game, and the very first thing my favorite sim did was laugh and then die "O.O" .. then, all I did was exit to menu (without saving - very important to note) and then reload game = sim alive and never repeated the laughter-death ever again. Exiting to menu and reloading also cheats way of not having to debug or craft a death-flower. Also, very important to note: ALWAYS save your game with each passing sim day.
That's a great idea! Savjng every sim day... Wow, I'm definitely going to do this from now on!

Hmm, I actually have selected 'phrases' on save files I overwrite again and again in the game : "Quick-Save!" I use constantly, and then "Recovery Save Point (1-5)" that I cycle through; when I get to (5), I overwrite (1) again, and so on, like this : "Recovery Save Point 1" "Recovery Save Point 2" and my Official Save Names that end with Chapters; like this one: "Anna's Amazing Journey Chp (1 - 1.9)" and then (2 - 2.9) The Chapters in my saves are the big milestone moments, but I also like to keep the small things as 1.(1-9), the next big milestone marks Chapter 2 ... then; at the end of a gameplay session I copy my save and sometimes my tray folders from my documents folder into a separate dated gameplay backup folder. I do this with *every* pc-based game that I play: Truck Sim, Farm Sim, Train Sim, and "People Sim," haha.
Here is an example gameplay backup: My Documents / Gameplay Backups / The Sims 4 Archives / My Favorite Sim-play / 10-25-2021 / save + tray folders.
Even on a console you could still use the reusable save files, if they let you name different save files and use multiple save files? I do not have a game console.
For pc, if you don't have much room to make archives; just buy a USB flash and place your gameplay backups on there!
This is sooo super helpful; if you suddenly remember a specific game memory, or a time in the past when your Sim was just a little one: and you want to briefly enjoy that moment again - just go to your backup folders; either by dates, or, you can give the folder topic names and the date it is archived. Then you can literally swap out save folders, by placing the current game save folder into a "The Sims 4 Gameplay Hold Folder" into a folder dated when it was swapped out; once you've switched the save folders: enjoy those moments again in real-time, not just memories!!
I often reduce game-load stresses by keeping a lot of my gameplay archived in save folder copies; then deleting the older files in my current gameplay folder. To explain that accurately: I make a copy of the save folder inside the Electronic Arts Sims 4 documents folder, then, when i have that copy archived; i go into the game and delete all of the unnecessary saves - thus reducing the amount of save files the game currently needs to load up in the save window.
Also, on The Sims 4: I use a separate save folder for different gameplays; which also reduces the amount of saves per gameplay sessions! It's super helpful when making an archive too; you have only that gameplay saves in that archive!
That could look something like this:
My Documents / Gameplay Backups / The Sims 4 Archives / My Favorite Sim-play / 10-25-2021 / save + tray folders.
/ My Other Sim-play / 10-25-2021 / save + tray folders.
But; *always* remember, that *anything* can happen: keep two forms of backups for your most Favorite gameplay; a USB flash and a Disc, along with the one on the pc! : - )

You can also use the anti-mosnter spray but that can be a bit annoying to do everytime. Also, your children can check if there are monster under their bed... if there aren't, they will feel courageous for being brave and if there are... they will NOT sleep in that bed.
Also, it was hillarious when you tried to make the sims mad at each other and she was like "I was cheating on you, but I love you so here's a kiss, don't get jealous".

Believe it or not,
I've only ever once killed a Sim.
My Sim was repairing a dishwasher.
He got electrocuted.
Instead of stopping him from fixing it,
I continued on with the task.
My bad! That's what killed him!
That was so long ago...
to this day, I am still upset about that. 😳

This is dope. I have been playing TS4 for years and did not know about half of these.
It's easier to get the hysterical death if you have Snowy Escape. The adrenaline junkie lifestyle paired with all the negative lot challenges, a few cowplants on your lot and working in a high pressure career like the criminal one paired with poor appliances have ended several Sims for me. Adrenaline junkies die quite easily and sometimes too easily.
With get famous and get together, my 5* celeb has died 3 times by hysteria lol she gets too playful at club hangouts 🥺
I knew about the Grilled Cheese, the trash can that gives you Simoleons but I did not know about the Tragic Clown or how you can determined the sex of your Sims baby. This is the 1st video I've watched by you & I have to say I found this very informative so thank you :-)
So that’s why I had a boy today! I started playing Sims4 a month ago, and recently been playing a new household. For the first time I had my pregnant Sim eat a carrot she grew from the garden, and out pops a boy.

Before seasons, I quickly got a pomegranate and it took MONTHS to get the orchid for whatever reason. I got the orchid after seasons, and now EVERY TIME I get the death flower. It’s amazing! I grafted it onto many lemons to get them year round. I just don’t like the bug that causes my plants to grow less than their 10 items. I have to shrink/grow and cancel in build mode every time they grow to get them all. I really hope they patch that Xbox bug.
How about reverting back to just planted when the plants are ready to harvest. I lost many oppertunities to harvest a death flower due to this bug.

I use the coollala light for my kids as well but I put it close to the floor, using move objects, so that it lights directly under the bed. No more monsters 😂😂

I remember in sims 3 to influence baby gender you had to eat 3 apples for a boy and 3 watermelons for a girl. Worked every time.

i didnt know about the defender light for the kids. ive been putting them in adult beds, which is very hard when you have a house full of kids, and no room for multiple adult size beds! i noticed playing lullabyes in the toddlers room, they sleep until totally rested. sane for the kids, and listening to kids music.

You can purchase a death flower sometimes in the Magical Realm from the potion ingredients spectral vendor. Or if you have level ten gardening you can buy the rare plants seed packet for a chance of it dropping. And I think it's even possible to buy it from the flower and crafts stand in Cottage Living too.

I dont know if it works I never actually tried it myself ..buuut my younger sister told me that the dream eater painting(its like a chalk like painting like the unicorn one) also keeps the monster under the bed from coming ...I was telling her about the coolala light when she told me that she just uses that chalk painting and has never had an issue with the monster so....once again never tried it myself but kinda curious...

I remember one of the times I was doing the 100 baby challenge it happened twice to me and my teen aged up and instantly died and I was so confused. One time they died of anger and the other of embarrassment and I hadn’t even know those were a thing haha
My sim husband died of laughter lol 🤣
