I have a 2023 Premium 6MT. I was able to get it for $1800 below MSRP and I can’t help but feel like it’s the best car below $30k available right now. The interior and stereo is special. MPG on long trips for me is 38-41. Skip the turbo the NA has enough power and costs far less money.
Round trip from LA to Vegas I averaged 43.3 mpg on the NA 2.5 2021 mazda 3 sedan. The most I driven on a full tank was 305 miles before refueling with 3.5 gallons left before empty. This was just driving about 35 miles every day round trip for work. So my average after refueling was 32.2 MPG.
I hear what you're saying, and I agree, but the Mazda 3 hatch might not be the best car to make that example with. Don't get me wrong, I like the car, but Mazda went style over substance in a few ways with this car.
@@flips220 Yes, you are 100 percent correct. I was really taking a dig at SUVs more than praising the Mazda hatch. Today's Mazda 3 is probably the worst example of hatchback practicality.😂 Over the last 4 generations the Mazda hatch has gone backwards in fulfilling the core hatchback mission of form following function. If we use the Protege 5 as a starting point, today's 3 hatch is nothing more than a bizarre design indulgence. BTW I drive a Pontiac Vibe. Along with its twin the Toyota Matrix, it was a paragon of practicality. Today's cramped Corolla hatch is nearly as bad as the Mazda 3 in delivering hatchback utility. 🤨
Wow that car really flew after you settled in, Lol But really, I'm in love with that car and I'm getting one from everything I've seen the last few days.
Rear styling on the Mazda3 hatch is too bulbous & weird looking for my taste, so I went with the CX-30 Carbon Edition (non-turbo, 186hp 2.5L engine) instead. I've been averaging 31-32 MPG over the last 18 months, pretty much all suburban around-town errand running at 50 mph or less speeds (north Phoenix, AZ). I haven't had any opportunity to do open HW driving really yet, but guess that I would probably average around 36 MPG.
The NA seems like the better choice for saving money and fuel I didn’t realize they lowered the compression so much for the turbo model that explains the big difference in fuel economy
Trying to figure what’s better 2025 Hatch Select Sport or Sedan? (I don’t want moonroof or any glass above my head) What do you think in terms of real world gas economy??
@@DailyMotor Ok agree but between HATCH and SEDAN which one would you choose? I want red (hope paint is better now than it used to be) just can't decide hatch or sedan .....
I’m not sure how a commenter is stating that the entire infotainment system in the car is shitty simply because it isn’t always touch screen. You’re allowed a preference buddy. Grow up and touch some grass. That doesn’t make it horrible 😂. I’ve utilized the non-touch screen for nearly 3 years. I don’t even think about touch screens. I hate how gross and dirty they look. Suppose that means all touch screens are shit then hey? Interesting logic hey?
my guy don't buy that silly car- you'd be a fool. Also, the HK system is LAME. The other HK systems in subarus are terrible and subaru almost NEVER has a good audio system. Don't be a dummy- buy a better car!
@Daily Motor Could we get a mpg test on this Mazda3's competetor, the 2024 Subaru Impreza RS? Just about every reviewer I've seen is saying they get less than the 33 mpg highway that it's listed at. Only one got better, stating they got mid-30s highway.
Mazda and Acura have the worst infotainment systems on sale in 2023. Lack of touch screen is such a pain. Ive had both touchscreen and non, and it’s so much easier to just touch what you want to select. If Mazda insists on keeping the scroll wheel, at least take a page from BMW and have the screen be touch as well… best of both worlds…
Disagree. I have a gen 3 with a touchscreen that I NEVER touch. The knob becomes second nature to use. And the position of the screen is great to see easily without taking your eyes off the road. I kind of don't understand that people don't get why Mazda designed it like this.
I see your point, but very few cars at this price point have as nice of an interior, sound system, driving dynamics, etc. Corollas go for this price all day long and are slower and not nearly as psudo-luxury inside.

The Carbon Edition 😍
The model i want the most, especially in the hatchback!
I just test drove the select (sedan) & i love it!
DM, In a market FLOODED with SUVs, sometimes you just want a compact wagon or a practical hatch that puts substance over style. 😉

I have a 2015 Mazda 3, 2.0L sedan. I added a 40mm lift kit. I'm at 150k miles and still get 41.5 mpg at 65 mph. Great cars.

You need to lower compression with turbos if you want to use regular fuel. Otherwise it will constantly pull timing to not nuke itself.
Professional video thanks 🙏🏻

Close enough that it would not be my deciding factor

@@VeronicaUSA If you need to put people in the back seat, sedan, it has more room. If you won't be putting people back there, then hatch.

I prefer not to touch the screen!
I'm curious what the FWD version would get.
Fwd can get better around 40mpg in perfect conditions.
Which is the best gas to use for a 2023 fwd Mazda hatchback? I can't tell if it runs better on 89 or 93
Whatever the owner’s manual says.
Can we get a Toyota Camry awd fuel economy test
Any chance of doing the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited with the HK Audio?

Sure thing, I'll ask for one! I've got the Crosstrek coming in a few weeks
I like this generation of the Mazda 3 hatch except the 3/4 rear angle. Still looks fugly to me.
what do mean slippery?
you can do better . the mpg is always influenced by driving on wet road/ rainy conditions .
That's an ok mpg but a bit underwhelming for all that tech and research. The 2024 Prius is looking much more impressive.
Mazda3 is a good car but getting outdated and very cramped interior.

My last two vehicles were touch screens and I love the set up in my 2023 Mazda 3.
Finally someone agrees with me. So many people love the Mazda setup but it’s way less convenient than a touchscreen, especially when using CarPlay

Honda sport touring hatchback is much better and efficient.
@@irenemanuel4217 Yeah but it's not AWD.
Australia is flooded with these things . I drove one they ride terribly.
Wow, over $31k for a tiny infotainment screen and no turbo and in real life unimpressive fuel economy.

Fuel eco is really good for 2.5
Congrats, you just destroyed the EVAP system of the car with the "3 click fueling method" plus you don't take over cars from the right! NEVER!
