Spot on Rog - the prices are out of control now! Compared with Manchester, Edinburgh has fewer stalls selling things, but has the backdrop of the Castle. You are right about the fact that they are all the same though!
I get what your saying about pricing but the rent at christmas markets are sky high also the wheel & star flyer are from abroad so you have to factor in the cost of bringing them across for the market.
Ho Rog, I was disappointed, not in the video fantastic as usual, but you went past one of the most famous statues in Edinburgh apart from Greyfriars Bobby. “Wojtek the Bear”. Without letting us see him or a word being said about him? Please let your viewers see this famous little bear if you get the chance.
Thanks Shaun! Something for me to follow up on. I noticed that Wojtek didn’t have a shiny nose like Bobby. They must have repainted him because he had a shiny nose too last time I had a good look! 🤔
The popularity of Christmas markets is bizarre !, as you said , the familiarity & consistency could be comforting for some especially for those of us getting on in years who are 'set in their ways' & don't like too much change 😂!, also it could be a great reason to meet up with friends & relatives to share a fun experience at a bleak time of year, even large crowds can add to the festive atmosphere with a collective positive & exciting vibe, for others the sheer numbers would be justification to avoid it altogether !. Thanks Rog for all the useful information about the stalls, rides & activities, as well as the contrast at night which looks even more spectacular !
Never been to Edinburgh in late November or December, thanks for sharing this tour around the Edinburgh Xmas Market- I'll give that 80 metre ride a big HELL NO though!
Good vlog Rog on Edinburgh's Xmas Market and attractions. The Starflyer looked amazing, as did that Yorkshire Pudding wrap! Wouldn't pay £14 though! All such markets are much the same, along with the overpriced food, but you certainly soak up the atmosphere walking around! Great that the weather was OK as well! 👍
I was very lucky with the weather! The Star Flyer has been closed a few days due to strong winds! Thanks, as ever, for your comments and support, Alan. 😀
I agree, the comfort is in the similarity BUT you cannot find that beautiful tartans, handcrafted objects and that beautiful pieces of art like the artist you mentioned, in every German market around the world. I go often to the Milan German markets and they are quite small. But we have another market, the "Oh-bej oh-bej" market on 7th and 8th December and it's always crowded as hell, but as they told me, full of local shops. I think that is the difference and that the style recalls the Santa Claus village atmosphere. Not a fan of crowd, but I love it
At last a proper HONEST review of the Edinburgh Christmas market. People just seem to loose all sense of fiscal awareness when these things come to town...open wallet surgery without the aid of anaesthetic!
They know the toffs and folk with money will pay for it, hence why they charge those prices. They wouldn't charge those prices unless they knew people (usually with more money than sense) would
There’s nothing more British than going to a Christmas market and complaining about the prices, 10/10 video👌👌
Ha ha - that is so true! Thanks so much for watching. Much appreciated. 😀
Great vlog Rog .I live in Edinburgh and i stay clear of the christmas markets there way to busy cant move and way over priced not for me
Thanks for watching Rachel. I went to see the Light Trail at the Botanics and that was a lovely alternative! 😀
@@RogEdwardsTV we went there to and it was lovely

Thanks Dave - I haven’t been to the Manchester one for years and years! Cheers for watching. 😀
Went on Saturday it was a sh#t show an actual health and safety concern.....no place for small kids 🏴
I went mid-week and it already felt to cramped. They need more entrances and exits! 🤔
I get what your saying about pricing but the rent at christmas markets are sky high also the wheel & star flyer are from abroad so you have to factor in the cost of bringing them across for the market.
Yes - it’s a vicious circle! High rents lead to high prices! Greed starts from the top! 🥲
You need at least a grand for 2 days 😬
Off the charts expensive! 💷
Glasgow christmas market is a bit cheaper, and not as busy
Thanks! 😀
So true when you have seen one you have seen them all… ok for a walk round if yours in the area but travelling far to get to them is a waste of time
Agreed - though quite a lot of people do travel! 😮
I went to it last year. Could barely move. Not my scene.
Thanks for watching. It was much nicer at the Royal Botanics Light Trail. 😀

@@RogEdwardsTV Yes you're right he did but seeing as someone never gave us the chance to look at his nose we will just have to guess, won't we? LOL

Thanks for watching Aidan! There is definitely a buzz! 😀 But also the crowds can get too much! 😅

I genuinely wish I could stomach the Star Flyer because I know the views from the top are incredible. It's just too high! 😂

Food prices are definitely a rip-off. Catering for the toffs and middle class from the west end with plenty of cash
Or tourists! 😂

Thanks Laura. I think a more local focus would make each market unique. Enjoy Oh-bej Oh-Bej -sounds awesome. 🙌🏻
@@RogEdwardsTV ahha yes, it means "Oh beautiful, oh beautiful!" in old Milan dialect and it's because of the beautiful things you can see in it!

Thank you! You’re spot on. This year they have literally been taking the piss with the prices and it’s been as busy as ever! 🥲
Thank you for a great video...only just discovered your channel, I'll subscribe, it's a must, you have a brilliant presentation, cheers.

🤔
Skater almost wiped out turning behind you.
😂
Is it card only there?
Some of the stalls were card only, others took cash too. 😀
I'll bring cash and see who says no 😉
🙌
It didn't cost me 14 pounds. What the hell have they put the price up
I jist checked it was 11.50 when I went up
£14 plus £3 extra for Roast Spuds! 🤯
@RogEdwardsTV so they put their price up
@@edinburghandbeyond looks like it! 😮 Blatant profiteering!
