The DPO (I had one, but traded it for the Verbos CO) sounds like/functions similarly the Buchla 259, and the 258 is definitely a compliment to that. With the Verbos CO, there are definitely bigger tonal difference. The 258 with not replace the DPO which is much more complex, but there are definitely tonal similarities. The STO is sort of like a single 258, I would say using them in combination makes sense. Especially using to either to modular the other. At 200 bucks it's kind of hard to beat. Would definitely prefer it over the STO--which is great on it's own (and smaller), but it depends on how much the tone of this appeals to you, and how much modulation/how many voices you want.
This is why I fk with this module despite its simplicity. It just sounds effortlessly GOOD
omg the dog barking i thought was a part of it i was frantically going over every connection trying to figure out where the second oscillator was LOL
Thinking the modular has made a cool sound then realising it was one of the dogs is a large part of my life 🙂
