I have a 2010 cc too and having the same problem. I took it to the dealer and they wanted to charge $400.00 for the time to find the problem. But I took the car back home and found the issue. I would check with Deutsche Auto parts and pricing maybe a little cheaper than the dealer. I start having this problem before installing a rear view camera. I am going to review to see if wires are servery broken before buying the wiring harness. Also, check out the OBeleven plug. I brought mine for diagnosing the vehicle. It is a great buy versus pay for the actual VACOM plug.
Same issue with my 2012 CC .... man you're right this should be under warranty and it supposed to be properly protected from something like opening the trunk ... They are losing customer this way PS VW

Thanks for your video. VW dealer service here in NJ is quoting me $515 + Tax (parts and labor) for trunk harness replacement on my 14 CC with backup cam @61000 miles. Does it sound within norm? And if I can also get your view, he says that car needs coolant flush ($200) + brake flush ($200). And the the rear brake pads and rotors are to be replaced ($515). I got the car new in Feb 15 and never had brake pads replaced so I suppose it is pads time. Plus I am having the usual 60k service. Oh and yes wheel alignment he says is $129. So in total I'm going to be hit around $2100! Not happy.

2018 Passat everything works but can't get the latch to activate.. I had to dig some but this bend is the same in the harness. It was a pain for me to get in the trunk and to open up the wraps to see.. but there it was.! One broken wire... You can tell where the bend is the worst. just have someone open and close the trunk a little while our in there and watch and see where it moves the most. I think VW uses wire from China and the insulation gets brittle in the winter and it splits. Then this break in the outer coating.. creates the weak point for the copper wire to bend....and from there just simple repeated use breaks the copper as well.
I had a similar issue where my trunk kept up opening on its own and alarm would go off at random time; even at the freeway... dealer was charging $500+ to fix. At the end, I noticed the same issue with wires. After connecting wires. Issue with trunk went away.
Well I have a 2015 and when it rains water is trapped in the trunk which runs inside the trunk if I open it! My taillights is being affected by this I'm just so sad going through this ordeal.

FML I tried to the replace the trunk light bulb and it was on for a second and later turned off come to find out my tail light are off and the interior lights are also not working 🙄
Chris Brown my advice to you is re-connect the wires that are broken it’s not hard Peel back the liner in the trunk look at the wires and re-attach the ones that are broken that’ll well be the easy way out
I have the same issue of my 09 where the right trunk light will sometimes come on but the tail lights are out but the reverse light is working and on the other side is the same but the opposite where the lights work but the reverse light does not work....fucking stupid as person who designed this must've been fired

I have the same exact issue with my 2013 VW CC. VW should cover this as a recall. Frustrating, but they have moved on to the Arteon now.

How many wires are broken make sure check all your connections and keep me posted. I will be gladly to help you out.

You should be three or four wires that are broken especially where the trunk bracket is double check
did you check every wire one by one cause that’s what I did and make sure it doesn’t have any kinks especially around the trunk arm

My 2015 CC still have the same problem. $200 just for the harness $285 for installation.

Find the broken wire and use butt connectors if it’s wrapped up in Tessa tape cut it down the middle and look for the wire and reconnect
