- The 2023 Foton Thunder is Foton's answer to the Ford Ranger, the Toyota hilux, the Dmax etc. In the Philippines, the Foton Thunder 4x2 AT will be priced to compete with the base model variants from other brands but offers a few more amenities and a more premium-looking interior. In this video, we'll do an in-depth, full review. We'll do a walk around, we'll talk about the fuel consumption, the ride quality, the power etc.

i've driven the manual version of the Thunder. the clutch's biting point is way too low for a diesel truck and it feels so weird. but the truck itself is actually quite nice and i would like to drive one in automatic.

You can adjust the clutch's biting point.
You can do that yourself but it's best if you let Foton dealers do it for you.

So far wala pa akong nababalitaang negative reviews from the owners, especially, it is more affordable to compare with the other brands with the same specs. Negative comments most of the time came from those who don't own even the cheapest pick up. Yong makapagsabi lang na china raw at hindi na nabuksan pa ang isip sa mga nangyayaring mga magagandang reviews.

Hinde lahat may extra pera para isugal sa relatively new and unproven brand. Kung happy ka sa Foton mo, then be thankful and tell your experience but do not pass judgement sa iba na porke hinde sila bumili ng Foton, " hinde nabuksan ang isip nila " as you said. That is narrow minded on your part and quite disrespectful. If your Foton has been used hard for less than 150k kilometer without major problem, that is still a relatively unproven platform. I had a Ford E 150 Chateau full size van with the 5.3 liter V8 engine that lasted over 320k without having any major problem when I sold it away except for regular oil and filter change, tire changes, brake pad changes, brake system flush, and replaced the radiator and radiator hoses.
Why quilted leather though? Overall, a great pickup for its price and purpose.

It's not about the vehicle if it lasts or not, it's about the user. You can give me the most "unreliable" brand you can think of, and i guarantee it will last for 10yrs w/o any issues.
Foton is #1 in terms of truck sales and reliability in the PH. So most likely it's going to be reliable and will last

ask any company who has Foton trucks, they've got many parts if you actually do some research or go there yourself.
They have a plant in Laguna where they basically manufacture parts and assemble vehicles like these there.
And it's ironic that it's a Chinese company that makes Pinoy products where the ones many Pinoys are addicted to come form Thailand, Japan or Indonesia

Cummins diesel engines are known for durability and power..cummins are the worst rival by duramax engine made by chevy and GMC..

you didnt watch the whole video.. he mentioned it twice.. mid and end.. but a another reviewer said it has now apple carplay & android auto and with paddle shifters..

It was the foton blizzard which was based on the fuego. It’s an older model. This one isn’t based on the fuego

Never buy a Foton if you have options. The Foton we use as an ambulance broke down so much you had to use a passenger van to get your patient to the hospital.
Don't buy Foton, they don't last.
But my city (lgu) use a foton police car it still going Strong compared to mahindra enforcer and it might out lasted its Hilux partner they entered service with about a month difference but the Hilux was involved with a minor incident but still the foton thunder still runs like new except for the paint. I'm not a fan of foton but still it makes me wonder 🤔 except for the price
I mean if you’re buying this pickup you’re most likely not going to abuse it like an ambulance that’s constantly on the move and always in idle. Most 4x2 pickups now are more on the lifestyle side.
The production is far diff now. Besides quite sure maintenance is not regular.

That's a Frankenstein pickup truck! The front looks like a combination of Hilux/Dmax/Ranger and the back taillights is inspired by Navarra. The interior meanwhile is inspired by older Mercedes cars. I'm getting really confused with this one😵💫😅

I have spoken to an agent during the time this new foton thunder was newly released and I asked them “so its assembled in pampanga?” they said “no”
They said “only trucks are assembled (made) here in the philippines, pero itong pick-up is fully imported even the van (foton view). Yung mga truck lang talaga sa pampanga ina-assemble.”
However, I dont know if currently they also now assemble the thunder in pampanga since you said in the video that it is. If you have confirmed it with foton ph, please let me know. Thanks

The hilux has a very good reputation in SA so all chinese bakkies are and will struggle to get a significant share in the market, thus we see them fail most of the time. Good on them for trying tho...
