One thing that cracks me up, is the commentator keeps saying how Ronnie and Stephan are such good friends lol they were 100% not good friends at that time. I have seen a lot of documentaries/biographies on both of them and Stephan made a point not to make any friends with any of the other pro snooker players because he thought it would take away from his game. In fact, to this day, Stephan says that when he did eventually start making friends with Mark Williams and other pro's, that he believes it was part of his downfall.
That's just Stephan Hendry trying to deal with the fact that the rest of the field caught up to him - towards the end of his career, Hendry kept making excuses like this - when he should have been working on his flaws & improving himself, like Ronnie O'Sullivan did...

Hendry simply scored heavier than the opposition on a consistent basis, that's why he dominated back then. From the late 90s however that all changed.
