You have elegantly expressed everything I dislike about this movie. At least Free Guy was fun even though it has some of the same flaws. RIP Tom Wambsgans.
Completely agree with your take on superhero movies doing too many callbacks these days and constantly referencing older films as a cheap way to boost the reception of new movies. feels cheap
Wow you lack a lot of vitamin fun! Everything you have criticised this film for is exactly what it intends to be! Not every film is attempting to be an arthouse innovation of cinema. Sure you could agree that bringing characters back is getting tiresome but it’s been happening for 70+ years in the comic/superhero genres so I think it’s time to get over it! Though what I wouldn’t agree with is that this film is aimed at 14 year old boys but rather (as you so eloquently put it) man children. The man children and women (because inclusivity) who grew up with the 20th century fox films. And it most certainly and unashamedly nostalgia baits them in them into a 2 hour overtop reminder of their younger years! Which after almost 6 years of the agenda pushing dribbles of shit that the superhero flicks have been pushing out lately is a refreshing change! Nostalgia only works if you’re old enough to remember.
@@MerveFilms I wasn’t expecting an arthouse innovation of cinema, I was expecting a decent action-comedy. I just simply don’t think that the comedy in this movie is very funny and I am disappointed by the action choreography. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
@@MerveFilms Also, in my opinion, the past 6 years have not been that bad for superhero movies. We have gotten films such as The Batman, Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3, The Suicide Squad, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which are all top-tier.
@@jackysmith9723Most people and most comedies are funny to me. For example, even in this movie, I think that Channing Tatum as Gambit is hilarious. I just personally don’t like Ryan Reynolds’ brand of humor. It’s all subjective.
thanks for watching :))
