Such a difficult situation. You’ve got mentally ill and drug addicts, along with regular folks who just fell on hard times. I was homeless for 2.5 years. Thankfully, shelters in L.A. are really decent. The only people who don’t want to stay in shelters are people who are paranoid, or can’t deal with rules and curfews. Sadly, their way of life reflects on ALL homeless, and they’re stereotyped big time, which exacerbates the situation. You can’t even imagine the toll it takes on your psyche.

The decision by Scotus does very little to really address the problem of homelessness. The problem is fueled by a lack of affordable housing and wet existing housing that is available is often horrifically overpriced were studios in one bedroom apartments rent for upwards of 2000 and $3000 a month. The shelter system sucks having been in the shelter system myself in San Francisco. I wouldn’t recommend it. I don’t think they’re particularly dangerous but they’re useless, I believe they have to go back to the drawing board. I think at least two of the members of the supreme court need to be impeached. Homeless people don't need to be homeless in SF. They could have gone somewhere else that is cheaper and allow them a place to stay indoors. Just because they don't want to leave doesn't give them the right to live on the streets of SF. They are causing so many problems for others and they are violating other people's rights too! So, don't stop telling me about their rights are violated. They don't respect other people's rights in the first place, so why should they be allowed to keep doing so?

Riverside sent volunteers to reach out to homeless people, offering over 500 people a place to stay. Only 11 accepted. Homelessness is a choice. The homeless don't want to stay in a shelter because drugs and alcohol are prohibited. They can't stay with family because their family kicked them out due to their stealing, addiction and laziness. They want to live by their own rules, anywhere they want, doing anything they want. Enough is enough.
