    EMTB has made a huge difference to me as I had a M/C accident some years ago and have limited leg movement around the knee
    Love the ability to get on an bike and just ride for hours without my knee blowing up 👍👍👍👍👍👍🇦🇺

    A great follow-up to an excellent documentary. I'm working in the Middle East and looking forward to getting home to Grand Junction, Colorado, and getting back into mountain biking. In my earlier life my buddies and I used to race down the fire trails of California on our Schwinn Stingrays with the chopper handlebars. I can even remember when someone got smart and threw some motocross handlebars on the frames. The rest is history. Still some embt haters out there though. I told a mountain biker friend of mine I was looking to buy an embt when I got home later this summer and the venom was deadly. I sent him a link to your Summit to Sea episode and told him this is what I was looking to do. That seemed to have calmed down a bit. Looking at a 2019 Commencal Meta Power 29. That should make him a convert; I know I'll like it. Let me know if you get out my way to ride Moab in 2021. While I can't keep up yet I can direct you to some good brew houses for a pint(or two, three, four.....). BTW, the Bureau of Land Management is taking comments regarding allowing Class I mountain bikes onto existing acoustic mountain bike trails. I heartily recommend all my American brothers and sisters take the time to go online and support the idea. There's strength in numbers so let's inundate them with comments. While you're at it, let the Dept of Agriculture (Forest Service) know their 2005 laws governing the use of bikes on trails are obsolete as well. Currently emtb's are only allowed on the Forest Service trails approved for motorcycles and four-wheelers. Cheers mates.

    The only thing Specialized (and many other manufacturers) missed per the Display usefulness/demand is that of TRAIL NAVIGATION! Having a display with a QUALITY Trail Navigation display built on or built INTO the bike is coming ...and will be AMAZING!

    I live in an area where it is as flat as **** with no hedges, as soon as the wind comes out to play you are peddling at 5mph. With an ebike it means I can still get a decent ride in, When it’s windy on an ordinary bike I probably wouldn’t be able to manage 10 miles with an E bike I can do a 30 mile ride and not need the paramedics. A lot of people don’t realise when it’s flat and windy you have to pedal all the time and having an E bike helps. I have a Levo that I bought just before lockdown so I’ve got to stick to the flat until I can start travelling again and I can’t wait to get it on the hills.

    I've never had as much fun mountain biking since I got my Turbo Levo 2020. I still love my analog Yeti SB5c, but eBikes are in a league of their own. I really invite anyone who hasn't tried one to go and demo an eBike, and just then make a judgement about them. Cheers!

      Haibike till I die...specialized?? A 12 grand Ebike?. If you want a carbon mtb why go E at all?. ..ok for doctors or barristers or stock traders... The prole bike is the haibike....all the Californians have moved to Switzerland... hahahaha

      @@christopherogley1714 12 grand? Ya how about 5500 for a turbo levo. I have ridden several 6500$ and up haibikes. They don't hold a candle to a Levo. Ridden both back to back no comparison. Haibike is cheap junk

    Another early eMtn Bike name in America was Felt from California. His Bosch powered mtn bike was shown at the 2014 Sea Otter Classic Laquna Seca Ca. Mr Felt was there and talking with him he was excited about this new technology although he did say he got pushback from others. I was able to demo it there and really liked it but I don't think it ever made it to market, so I went with Haibike/Bosch the dominante leaders in 2014.

    • @NicolaiSyvertsen
      @NicolaiSyvertsen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both Yamaha and Bosch have minimal displays and few buttons to get confused by. You don't have to buy the bikes with the biggest displays. I don't feel like the display on my PW-SE equipped Haibike gets in the way. Those that insist on having controls on the frame or near the battery just do it to be different. Of course someone like Specialized are going to claim this is leading innovation. This mini-documentary would have been twice as good without the interviews with the guys from Specialized. They were in full PR mode the whole time instead of just talking about the industry in clear unbiased terms.

    Hmmmmm. I'm running into more people on the trail that think if I e-mtb i can go anywhere moms with kids on non e-mtb bikes go figure. And of course the...! If i use turbo mode all the time riders because they have never been on a trail. Ever...! Please don't misinterpret my desire to ride an e-mtb. It's like when you think you have the fastest motocross bike at the race then a Kawasaki shows up..! You gotta have one cuz it blew your helmet off as it flew by your bultaco.. Rob Warner said it on your show.. emtb greatest thing ever to happen to mtb. Come on Rob you don't make it any easier on us non climbers. Damn it...

    "Black, red and yellow, very German..." No dude, this three colors you are looking for, the colors of the German flag, are black, red and gold (there is a very clear historical background to these colors, deeply rooted in the national history of Germany, google it). For a designer (sic!), living in Munich, it is kind of embarrassing not to know the difference, especially if these colors are important for your company's brand. Fun fact: I'm aware that this is not his intention, but "black, red and yellow" is how parts of the German far-right describe the colors of the flag in order to offend and discredit the modern German democracy. Working for a German company, it might be smart to avoid such hidden cultural traps, especially if a significant part of your target group is German.
    Maybe the guys from Haibike communications can explain it to him. "The guys buying the really expansive bikes..." often have an very decent education and are aware of historical facts. Many of us do care.

      I find the color mix of the German and Belgian flags ugly. Red white and blue that many countries share is more pleasing to the eye as is the Latvian flag which substitutes black for red.

    You lot are living in your own little over-regulated little world. Meanwhile over here we're riding 2000 watt 160 nm Bafang killer bikes. And planning on hacking those for even more power and greater range.

    • @somethingelse9535
      @somethingelse9535 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All that power doesnt help you on technical trails, and then there's the reason why people are mountain biking, exercise. 250W nominal (actually, all those motors generate 500W+) is enough. More power means less range too.

  • @barryjones5683

    The bad thing about these e bikes is it makes people lazy when cycling, riding 40 miles on a e bike is the equivalent of riding 10 miles on a real bike, I agree for people that are old and disabled that are great but normal people should be mentally strong enough to cycle properly
