Galaxy of Terror and Creature always stuck with me when I was a kid. Creature would've been better if you could see the beast half the time, but Galaxy of Terror is something I'd be more than down to see a legit good remake of.

Honestly the whole thing in Lily CAT about how deep space travel displaces you from time is probably the most interesting thing about the movie. It's something that you never really see addressed in sci-fi, imagine how horrifying it must feel to know you can never really go home, because home is 40 years in the past.
I bought a copy of Lily Cat on VHS years ago. I thought it was a good thriller like They we're 11. I can remember who distributed it, was it Streamline or US Manga Corps
@@spademagna2672 The novel version of Ender's Game has that idea too. They have FTL comms... but space travel still takes years. Long haul trips in space might result in the company that paid for the trip going bust before you even get to your destination.

The problem with the alien franchise is, its getting dumber and dumber with every "new important film"...and so they kill the biggest part of alien "the unknown horror/terror factor"
Yeah... the whole "who cares about aliens, fear this robot who looks like a Swedish stockbroker and who is evil just because!" is far from interesting for me.
The rest of the movie may be dull and slow-moving, but I really like the cyclops in "Contamination". They did a good job making it look really gooey and unpleasant, and the design is highly memorable - it manages to look both malevolent and emotionless at the same time, which is what you want for your gross alien mind-control monster.
This video is the only lasting thing to come out of Alien: Covenant. Yes, I can't believe it either. Prometheus I get but the one with Alien directly in the title?
During your marvelous deep dive of the prequel-sequel-not-sequel intro, I had a PTSD of Marlon Brando's closing whisper of Apocalypse Now: "The horror... The... horror..." Why? Don't know.
Saturday night. 1981. Galaxy of Terror Opening weekend. A 12 year old and his friends get some adult to buy us tickets. Might have been my first R rated movie. I remember loving it, being scared, and freaked out. Saw Tron the next year in the same theater. This brought back fun memories ❤️
The beginning reminded me of Peter Rosenthal's the onion film standard review of Dawn of the planet of the apes. I respect anyone who can channel Peter Rosenthal vibes into their film reviews
The Circus castlevania tune was awesome! Damn shame it had to start skipping and ruin the whole thing. I thought they'd finally explain why the Belmonts all prefer whips for fighting vampires after all these years! Dang it!
The scene with the egg exploding is almost as good as the guy fishing down in Florida and when he leans over to wash his hands in the water one of his friends says, "I wouldn't do that if I were you." To which he replies, "It's for two seconds, what could happen?' Shark grabs his hand and pulls him out of he boat.
In Galaxy Of Terror, I never understood why Erin Moran was killed off. She was actually conquering her fear- Claustrophobia. It was like an after thought to just have a chance to one up the chest buster scene.
Oddly, I don't see Galaxy of Terror as an Alien ripoff. Its storyline, which actually is original and makes sense, is totally different. One of my favorite sci-fi movies!
Got a classic for you, its called 'knightriders'. Not related to the talking car. It stars Ed Harris, Tom Savini. It is a retelling of the king arthur legend...kinda

You do know Alien is a spiritual successor to The Thing From Another World, so The Thing cashed in on a movie that was an homage to the film it was a remake of.
The padding-like exposition heavy dialogues of LILY Cat makes me appreciate the more unusual but realistic "talk normally like it was another day at work and explain the existence of robots in the setting ONLY when it comes up/matters to the plot" from Alien, its less clunky and makes me feel Im genuinely looking into a futuristic spacecraft with people who act mundane about it and dont explain things they should already know to themselves for the benefit of the viewer. All the worldbuilding wannabe chit-chat in LILY didn't really matter to the story that much or made me care more for the doomed characters and felt more like a constant "You're watching a cliched SciFi thing!" or very "As you know"-esque

The original Alien set called for such a pyramid where you could only enter from the top. It was deleted to save costs. It’s originally also had such a rape scene, however they improved it to what it became
ALIEN CONTAMINATION: "The Lieutenant sticks around because...I dunno, he's third billed?" Yes, that's why! But the in-universe reason is likely that he's seen what those eggs do first-hand, and the Government doesn't want information about them getting out before they know what they're dealing with. You can either send him on his way and risk him going to the newspapers (remember when people could do that?) with his story, or you can deputize him and get his help....

It's hard to imagine just how bad ( and not necessarily wonderfully bad) Roger Corman's concept of Alien would have been.. I mean seriously, there are so many different directions he could have gone with it. So many different ways he could have screwed it up. So many great and even iconic scenes that might have ended up corny and cringe worthy because he decided to save a few extra bucks here or there. Jeez, I wonder who he would have ended up casting for the main and supporting roles. Or what the alien itself would have ended up looking like. It wouldn't be called a Xenomorph in his version because, at least if I remember correctly, that name was something that Geiger and Scott came up with...at least I think (memory gaps Suck!). I bet it would've ended up being constructed by throwing a bunch of different elements from prior "scary alien" films he made in the past, and just sort of pieced together something new, yet still strangely familiar looking, out of all of his old props. Wow, my mind is racing over the possibilities now! 😂😂
Klaus Kinski did something many may not have known of, Spahetti Westerns. And he was good in them. Probably before mental illness took hold. I would not have known he was a monster. Sadly he died, all things considered, kind of young and where I'll be next, 65.
