Thus you would be able to add a dev exit in to be able to complete the clear check (but the dev exit would be useless in regular play) and make it so that you run out of time at checkpoints. That gives you 25 minutes in your level, the complete maximum. Alternatively, you could add in a normal dev exit, but those are very hard to hide well and that's not nearly as cool.
Softlock isn't the correct term for it, but I like your attention to detail on that there observation. It's just getting stuck. Also, they skipped Mario 2. Why couldn't they have made a part 2 and commented at the end.
