    The number on the barrel isn't the serial number it's the military part number

    • @BattlefieldCurator
      @BattlefieldCurator  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for that, I had trouble finding info on it at first. Finally got some solid info and from I uncovered, the barrel on this one was produced under contract by Israeli Military Industries (IMI). It’s dated 1985. It's got TZ 10 P on the right side and M on the left.

    I just got my CMP 1911 a couple of weeks ago myself. I opted for the field grade since the service grades weren't available and I received a 1944 Remington Rand slide and frame. I can't find any rebuild marks so I'm assuming it's all original. Overall I'm quite happy with the purchase and the wait was well worth it!

      @@Millie.1965Colt are the more desirable manufacturer since they were the original maker of 1911’s. Well actually, US&S 1911’s are the more valuable 1911’s you could receive from the CMP but it’s likely they get sent to auction. I received a Service Grade RR frame Colt slide just like yours in May. Same mag came with mine and I had same failures. Chucked it and used real WWII mags and it worked fine. Modern Colt factory 7 and 8 rounders also worked fine. I cleaned, lubed, changed all springs the minute I got it so those mags are definitely the problem.

  • @Arrowhead-wp8od
    @Arrowhead-wp8od ปีที่แล้ว +2

    11/17/22 I received my M1911A1 Service Grade from CMP. A 1943 Remington Rand frame and a GI replacement slide (7790314), which through my research is a Colt made National Match Hard slide contracted for a USAF Marksmanship Program. The barrel is also a replacement (.45 AUTO - 7791193 - '85). All roll marks and inspection initials are legible. The U S Army Ordnance acceptance crossed canons has a "MR" over strike (possibly Mount Rainier Arsenal), but still partly visible. All in all, it's a very nice piece of military history. It shoots very well also. Me? MSgt USAF ret ('73-'95) former Security Policeman (ICBM,aircraft, ABGD and Armorer) I cross trained into Operations Management
    , Squadron Ops and served as First Sergeant.

      @@Berniessen No way to truely know, there have been multiple Special Forces modified 1911's pop up and people have been putting in FOIA's (Freedom of information act requests) and I think most of the SF pistols were from 7th Special Forces Group. The only reason this is known is due to the Cage code stickers on the bottom of the frames. Really awesome to see WW2 1911's being issued in the GWOT era. Some are plain 1911s with cage code stickers while others are heavily modified from SF with cage codes or military competition pistol teams.

    You were limp wristing it at the begining.. That is what was causing your feed problrms. Notice it got.better when you used both hands. Limp wristing causes the slide to short cycle a little and jam.
    Otherwise, it's a very nice gun. If I did not already have a plethora of 1911s (nine at last count) would want to get one myself. Give it a good clean and lube, it deserves it.

    I figure the mismatch slide and frame comes from a combination of rebuilds and careless weapon cleaning details in line units. There should be either a premium for matching or a discount for mismatched units. Either way, I think they're over priced, given the market price for every other countries surplus weapons.
