    When you do the full review, please demonstrate having a PDF open on the E-Ink display while using OneNote and the Stylus on the LCD. Basically reading something and taking notes on it while you read. That's a lot of real estate for something so small when you leverage both screens. I guess also confirm the USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode for connecting portable displays or USC-C Monitors.

    • @ruzaroos
      @ruzaroos 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      penguin272 Yeah I'm asking about taking notes on the LCD while you are using the E-Ink display to view a PDF. This mimics the workflow of having a book open and a notepad on the side. Right now I use the 12.9 iPad Pro with two apps side by side to mimic that workflow. The Yoga Book seems like it would give me more room than that.

    I really appreciate your perspective with this device. I'm absolutely in love with it, but without Kindle or Microsoft Store ebook support (and the incredible price) I just can't justify it and can't see the majority of people picking it up either. I worried it would be an idea tossed aside due to low profit, but I'm hoping you're right and its just a concept they happen to be selling and will be making another generation in future.

    This is what I have been wanting for years... almost. The next step is a full customizable user interface in place of the keyboard. Editing music, videos, or pictures? Create your own board with levels, bars, dials, and shortcuts buttons. If I was rich, i would buy this right now. As is, I would pay $500 for it. For a fully customizable interface and little more power? Priceless.

    This is the best hybrid ,a bit bigger than the Surface Neo
    16:10 , USB C , fanless , small thin and light , 256gb , pen and touch both screen
    E ink is a bonus ,
    Yoga book 3 with Lakefield may even have better battery life

    Damnit Daniel, you just made me purchase one! That feels like a dream for my usage. Taking notes during user interviews or while reviewing designs, standard office stuff, reading a requirement document PDF on e-ink. I don't need raw power or even intensive keyboard usage, but Windows 10 + e-ink notebook + pen + portability is just perfect. Sorry Surface Go, you are too slow and too cumbersome to take notes for me.

    Have the 1st gen android version. Tried to improve the desktop experience but it is still limited due to poor android support for tablets. Will get this if the price drops below $600. 4gb is low but if I install linux on it, I feel it will be more than enough for most tasks. This thing is super portable and whoever is whining about the keyboard can get the microsoft foldable keyboard if they want. Laptop, tablet, e-book reader, pen support, high res bright quality display... WORTH IT.

    I like this concept, I think it’s great that devices like this are being developed, watched the whole video, until I heard how much it cost! I do 3D rendering, photoshop etc, so I’m always looking at cintiq esq products, I was thinking, oh this is kind of a cool iPad substitute, at that kind of price point, but come on, I can’t afford or justify that kind of money! I'm definitely interested in some benchmarking/performance tests in the full review. I'd really love to see what the trade-off between the m3 and the i5 is in terms of both performance but also battery life. Ideally I'd like to get one of these as a supplement to a work computer for personal productivity (aka lots of tabs) and media consumption, so battery life matters but so does not hanging with more than 3 chrome tabs open (looking at you Surface Go). I suspect a lot of the audience for this will have similar questions about the specing.

  • @nickthaskater
    @nickthaskater 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    I love my original Yoga Book. I have the Android 7.1 version and have few complaints. I feel Lenovo completely lost the plot with this new version. The high price tag, loss of a headphone jack, relatively high-powered processors rather than efficient ones, and no longer including a stylus by default are a few great examples of this. The fact that they spent any resources on that silly "knock-to-open" feature kind of sums it up as well.
    I was very much looking forward to this, but I can't bring myself to care. A Snapdragon 850-powered version would have been incredibly appealing, as would a version with ChromeOS. Maybe next time, Lenovo.

Go watch Daniel's video on the Galaxy Book 2 - th-cam.com/video/7RglNSdYvsA/w-d-xo.html - where he notes how the difference between a typical dual core Core iX U CPU and the 850 is essentially imperceptible, especially when working with native 64 bit applications that fully utilize the multi-threaded capabilities of the 850.
      "Completely useless" is a woefully uninformed assertion and is simply not the case by any stretch.

The whole seling point of this serie should be small, portable. long battery life as convertible tablet and affordable. Yoga Book 2 totally lost it. E-ink is totally just a gimmick now. Based my experience on iPP 10.5", you definitely can type almost at your normal speed if the layout and the size fit perfectly for your hand..maybe at 70% speed. Virtual keyboard on iPP 10.5" works wonderful for me, since I have super tiny female hands. But with the 12" iPP's virtual keyboard I find my self mistyped a lot. I use the same headphones with lots of devices, my HP laptop, my iMac, my iPhone, my MP3 player, various portable radios and other things, you can't use USB-C headphones with most devices, only some computers and some mobile phones. And can you buy desktop speakers with USB-C ports on them? How about home theatre systems?

    • @tomekkubiak_
      @tomekkubiak_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There will have to be dongles until those devices have the functionality built-in, just like it happened with the adoption of "Smart TV". Someone had to start the movement and I believe we should be past the resistance state by now.

    • @Lachlant1984
      @Lachlant1984 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In my opinion smart TVs have nothing to do with deletion of old standards that have been around for years such as the typical headphone socket. Devices like portable radios and tape recorders are analogue in nature, so features such as USB-C on those devices aren't easily possible. Are you OK with the fact that device manufacturers are removing the headphone jack from modern devices? Because I'm not.

However , there is one variant Yoga C630 with same processor as Surface Go but better specs (8GB Ram, 128GB ) but without pen at $549 which has incredible battery life. Surface lines are good product but still I don't consider them to be useful as 'lap'top due to their design (keyboard and kickstand ). Yoga C630 is more portable and useful than Surface GO..but the pen experience is not as fluid as Surface GO

    Question! If the pdf has selectable text can you select it with the stylus and then copy it over to the main screen (it to notepad, a browser, etc)? Basically I just want to know if normal input works on the e ink part and if it's at all "connected" or able to interface with the main screen.

    • @NareshPasalkar
      @NareshPasalkar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely....and fun part is, if orginal pdf is in color ,it retains those color in copied portion. It's so useful for me as an professional engineer. With new update for their e-ink screen, it can now be used directly with a pen to write on (not on pdf, but as a clean slate) to onenote operating on the main display. It's freaking awesome, where you can directly convert the e-ink into typed text with auto conversion.

    • @NareshPasalkar
      @NareshPasalkar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does convert handwritten notes into text /math formula/ graph using drop down menu available on e-ink screen...which can be exported to main screen into notepad, word or onenote based on your need.
      With new feature added to the e-ink screen, that screen can be used (as a slate using pen) to directly hand write into onenote on the main screen wherein windows ink feature can convert it automatically into typed text. Its nicely integrated experience now.
