@@jamesbutler9884 She means the other kind of magic that singing brings, as all arts they are different and it's not offensive to say it as she did, he recognize the magic in their voices and they recognize the magic in his music making, it's all related and part of one another, but that doesn't mean they can't witness it as part of it and as true admirers at the same time, as they did.
He was enjoying every second of it as part and as a happy person to witness and appreciate it, as you can see that they all did.

I adore Sam Smith and his amazing voice and the amazing artists he works with, some of them I (a bit shamefully) admit that have had discovered after his collaboration with them, but hey, it's awesome to explore the world bit by bit and always to be able to enjoy better and better art!
Well I can share one amazing song that feels me up with so much that human language can't explain and that song is "Cradled In Love" by Poets of the Fall. Also I really enjoy "Saturn" by Sleeping At Last, simple, but full of magic music.
I do enjoy a lot of the so called by my generation "old" music, like Bobby Hebb's, Marvin Gaye, Temptations.. So many more and very different others, just whatever trully connects with my soul!

Listen, we all know that Sam Smith is wondrous...but the way that Brandi wraps her melodies around his in her dark and light melody makes the yearning of this song so much more profound.
Whole 4:55 minutes of goose bumps, the drummer got me going back to pick up my sticks after more than 8 years.

2022 and still the best duet i've ever heard. It's not just the music, or the singers, though without doubt they are amazing!
It's also because the story behind these lyrics is so beautiful. There are moments when we are so very tired about life, love, and everything, but through this song they tryna tell us that it's okay if you have those feelings. It's very human of us to felt that way, to the point that we retreat ourself from surroundings. But the most important thing is, whenever you feel like exhausting, surrender, you know there are people who are willing to accept you, and embrace you, cause they are your home, and you are theirs.
I don't know about you but this song reminds me of the 3rd part of Before trilogy. It's a grown up definition of love.
I am leveled. How did I not know this collaboration existed. I never would have thought to put these two voices together. Wow. Beautiful and moving beyond measure.
My moms favorite song was “that wasn’t me” when I was growing. She was in an abusive relationship with my father and now that I’m old enough to understand the meaning of the song I realize why she loved it so much. Brandi has been one of my favorite artist since then. Simply beautiful!

I’d never heard Brandi before but I adore her voice, so powerful but so delicate and real as well. Each artist was able to be themselves and introduce their own style in this. Not to mention how great the song is, I loved how dynamic it was, I couldn’t tell where it was going next so all I could do was listen and take it in.

I discovered this song in a random TH-cam mix, and was simply floored by Brandi's voice at the phrase 'your weaponized words.' The way she hands that line alone is breathtaking. A singer is special when they routinely have those small moments of artistry that demand attention, beyond just belting out high notes and complicated runs.

Agreed, and there is zero artistry to a ton of big name producers creating club hits for seasonal pop artists. I have always been on the side of people who can actually sing, and who actually write the music. People who are more passionate about the song quality, than the returns it gives to their label, or the amount of gossip and fame that they get from Hollywood.

For over 10 years when people complain that there is no real music nowadays I would always say "Checkout Brandi Carlile" sadly for some reason they rarely play real talent on the radio. Sam being one of the few exceptions. Hopefully with her Grammy performance I won't have to tell people who she is anymore. That makes me happy in so many ways❤
