I use a differrnt method that takes into consideration the length of your horse. I think it is a little more accurate. It's Heart Girth X Heart Girth X Body Length then Divided by 30 = Horse Weight. Length is measured from the point of shoulder to point of hip.
I used a weight tape to get my horses weight ....it had him at 1150lbs. The next day a horse weighing person came to the farm with a scale and the horse actually weighed 1358lbs !!
Yeah, it's kinda hard to get them to stand on a bathroom scale. And it would be equally difficult to pick them up, step on the scale, see how much you weigh, then put them down.
