  • This time on ‪@RestorationDIY‬ I make a bowl from Ash segmented rings with Resin Joints cast in 4 colour Epoxy Resin, this is a good one with a few challenges along the way and its the first outing for my 3d Printer which I used to make a template and some spacers to help to make the blank , take a look and follow me through each stage from start to finish, Subscribe if you havent already a thumbs up will be much appreciated and comments are always welcome.

    it is such an involved process putting something like this together. so many things that could potentially go wrong (as i’m sure you know 😉). this came together beautifully though! and i think the resin staining in the ash actually looks really cool the way it emanates from between each segment.
    btw the zebra pants and green crocs are quite the fashion statement 😆

    awesome idea for the circle template, that must save a whole lot of time. Found the music in this one quite loud compared to voiceover and spent first half raising and lowering volume, until just watching the rest on mute. it came out spectacular looking, very impressive.

    Watching these bowl turning videos I wondered if the waste blank was turned to a slight cone and then wrapped in cling film would it then pull out of the casting, removing the need to cut it out later, or is that not possible?
    Great video and a lovely piece.

    • @RestorationDIY

    I love it and would like to make similar as I have just started segmented turning. However I have turned pens with epoxy and just hate the mess. So maybe I’ll just stay with nice clean wood.

    I love the height on this piece the colours are wonderful. The only thing that bothers me is where the resin stained the ash, thanks for sharing take. Take care stay safe.😁😁

    • @RestorationDIY
      @RestorationDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you 🙂 its taller than most pieces I make, the staining is difficult to solve letting the epoxy resin part cure in the mixing cup and less pressure in the pot might help 🙂

    • @scottcates
      @scottcates 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe seal any wood likely to absorb the colour. Possibly sanding sealer. Although it would make it look crisper & don't mind the 'bleed'.

    • @RestorationDIY
