Love your videos and presentation style. Been to Almaty three times and love the city and people. Kazakhstan and the whole region is a real blindspot for most westerners.
Yeah ur right. I live in Canada. All people know is Borat when you tell them I'm from Kazakhstan. First thing they ask is: Is it still war in your country? War? We haven't had war since 1945 man. What ur talking about gush! Internet, Google, TH-cam everything is available. Just type the text and press the search button. 🤣. Life keeps going on! Before I came to Canada I used to imagine North America like a fairy tale. But people are people everywhere regardless the origin, race and religion. There are good and bad knowledgeable and uneducated, mean and modest people. I have so many educated friends from Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan and stupid, no manners white Canadian and American clients whose English is way way worse than those who studied it as second language. It's all individual! I'm originally from Almaty, but Iike Bishkek. People in this city are really hospitable and friendly. Not the police or immigration. Corruption is the main problem in those ex-Soviet states. But people are the best in the Central Asia region. Bro you should have visited Uzbekistan as well.

Awesome road trip! I am hoping to be making this trip soon. My Russian is terrible I am trying so hard luckily my GF is Kyrgyz. I just love Central Asia its such a wonderful part of the world. I remember when I first stepped off the plane in Bishkek the mountains were so beautiful it felt almost like I was in Wyoming.
Even the desert spaces between the two cities was beautiful!

I just spent a year in Virginia as an exchange student. This year I'm moving to Murmansk for a year. I wanna get to know the culture and learn the language so I can travel and experience that part of the world. Your videos are really a great way of kind of showing he what's good. Dude, there's a Sinoil at Kordai on your way back to Almaty. It has hot dogs, trail mix, etc :) There's also a buffet place called Avrasia about half an hour down the road

да наглый типок и подозрительный на вид..поэтому у него деньги свои забрал перед проходом границы чтоб он не кинул..но потом когда доехали добавил еше 1000сом ..тот обиделся типа а когда лищнее заплатил начал созвонимся вотцап и тд ..а нафиг он нужен если по дороге даже словом не обмолвились.

I crossed this border both ways a few months ago too, didn't know you were allowed to film there so I did not take the risk, but wow that border guard is really friendly. Cool guy. Had not much problems at all either, just that the marshrutka drove off with only me and not my Japanese friend who was with me but luckily I managed to stop the car and they drove back haha. Also on the way back into Kazakhstan the border was really crowded and people were pushing and some shouting, I think on the Kazakh border guards to open more of the "boxes", it was a bit chaotic, but luckily we were in the beginning of the line. Anyway really fun trip to make. Want to go back.

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan is not risky. What is risky? Going to China to East Turkestan (Xinjiang) to film. That is risky for the vlogger and the people being interviewed.

Next time take a taxi till border; cross the border and you'll find a dozen taxi much cheaper on other side. And you don't have to wait for "your" taxi. Time is money :)))

I would say just look ar present Russia. Yes its best known people are the slavic tribes, but you also have the mongols, the caucasian tribes in the south and the sami people and other nature people. Yes the orthodox church is big, but in regions buddhism or islam is bigger. So Russia is an multiethnic and multi religious country. When you look at that then you might understand how Soviet could exsist. To put the local spirit out of people beside banning the local language (like most western countries did with native american languages and inuit languages), people as well was moved a lot. Like germans near to the chinese border, estonians to siberia and russians to east ukraine. So that Soviet union imploded had more to do with politics and economics, than with different ethnicities.

That's unfortunate about the scamming fear. I've been scammed too many times with things like that. I payed like $20 for a pickup truck ride from the boarder to Siem Reap (Cambodia), when I should have paid $6. Really, not a big deal. But at the time, I was mad when I found out. It's crazy, when traveling, if someone scams me out of $1, I get FURIOUS. But, I think nothing of wasting $10 or $20 on stuff at home.

Peter how’s the road transport from Stan to stans ie if one wants to drive from Almaty to Samarkand,Dushanbe-Bishkek or south to Pakistan etc ?? Is it possible?
You are mixing different kind of countries - Stan - you say, but if KZ, KG, UZ were ex Soviet Union countries it is one story, but Pakistan and Afghanistan are completely different countries with another border regime ...
