Thanks for playing this on St Patrick's day❤ It was a curve ball but I hoped you'd like it. Clannad is a band that produced a fusion of traditional Irish music and modern pop/rock. Bono is the lead singer for U2, another Irish rock band. The beginning of the song is the tail end of the opening song of the album "Macalla" and is in the Irish language. This was a big deal in 1985 and Clannad was instrumental in helping to bring Irish music to the modern musical scene of the time in what became known as the Irish Renaissance. The video really captures the feeling I experienced in Ireland...moody, fierce, timelessness betwixt the echos of the past and the visions of the future.
all these lifelong Clannad fans searching TH-cam for the first few (hopefully of many to come) reaction videos to what we all know can be almost supernaturally magical music
The lead singer of Clannad is Enya's older sister and though this song was quite a big hit of the time, it's one of those songs that seems to have become a bit obscure. I love it so much, still gives me goosebumps when I hear it. Enya was huge in the late 80's to 90's.
You've opened a Pandora's Box! U2 (fronted by Bono) one of the biggest bands in the world - "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "Pride in the Name of Love", "New Years Day" - so many fabulous tracks. Clannad are outstanding (rock/folk) - "Closer to your Heart", "The Theme from Harry's Game", "Robin (The Hooded Man)", "Tower Hill", "Caisleain Oir" (I love the Gaelic tracks) "Newgrange" - too many to list. As others say below, Enya is part of the same family - "Orinoco Flow", "Only Time", "Caribbean Blue", "Watermark" etc - unbelievable. Also check out "The Corrs" - "Runaway", "So young", "Radio", "What can I do?" and Steeleye Span - "Thomas the Rhymer", "All around my Hat", "Let her go down", "Long Lankin" - enjoy 🥰
You've reacted to some Irish music with Clannad, Bono and U2, and Sinead O'connor. You might try Cranberries next. Song recommendation: Zombie. You did hear Bono before - he's the lead singer in U2.
Videos added so much more to the music in the 80's and 90's , they told the story of the song and played a massive part in the success of the record. It's such a shame the spoilsports block some of your videos but it's still great to hear these amazing songs again.
Very true. Sometimes working on a shoestring and the tech limitations of the time, it was a very creative experimental period for visual arts as well as the music. When something like this played on the vid channel it really captured my attention.
Well, in that video rendition at the start is to hear another Clannad-song named 'Caislean Oir' (Gaelic for 'golden castle')! For some reason it was believed obviously, it could be suited as some kind of prelude here. So in the cd-rendition of 'in a Lifetime' this beginning part isn´t contained at all!
Please do more reactions to Clannad, they are a family band from Ireland, the lead singer Moya Brennan is the older sister of Enya, you should react to Harry's Game, amazing band!!
Super brave and pioneering of you to react to a song of this genre, released before I was born and I’m nearly 40 😂 my friends at school used to make fun of me for liking Clannad, but hey it’s atmospheric and rewarding. Ps Bono is the singer of U2 if that means anything. Keep it up!
Since you so much appreciated Bono's voice in this song so much, I recommend you should experience U2's 'The Unforgettable Fire'; it gives a kind of similar vibe (at least in my perception)

Clannad were one of my favourite groups as a teenager. LOVED them. This one is lovely with bono from u2.
It's a very moving piece of music...One of my favorites...Cheers

Absolutely top class music and singing!

A unique sound by Irish artists Clannad and Bono.
Very appropriate as 17th March is St. Patrick's Day 🇮🇪 ☘

Flies under the radar but it sounds amazing, Bono’s power vocal suits, only thing wrong is its too short.

Your melodic appreciation...❤❤
Get that WAR album by U2 and enjoy. Do a vid on Like A Song.
Classic
Love this song. It's so melancholy and haunting. It really just makes you feel something. Think I'm lonely...
4:21 you felt that deeply 😛
Please next time ENYA
Yes indeed. Máire Brennan in this vid is Enya's sister. Enya's "Orinoco Flow" came out three years after this and was a groundbreaking song and vid.
His voice is Bono, U2. Irish Rock Band, react to them and you'll see how many fans they have. Good stuff!
Good luck. Subbed. Trump 24😂.
