Macalla was the first Clannad album I ever brought mainly due to three other songs on the album that I’d heard on the radio. Oddly, I had not yet heard In a Lifetime anywhere and it was a most awesome surprise on the first listen. Absolutely one of my most favorite Clannad songs of all time.
Clannad has been my love and my heart since I was a young man. I am so grateful that I was able to see you live several times over the last few years. Many greetings from the south of Germany.
Same here. Geeman woman, fan since I saw Robin of Sherwood, when I was 12 years old. Saw Clannad life in Hannover in 2013. It was a dream come true. But I also saw Moya in many concerts in Braunschweig. Always a great pleasure!
I had the ultimate pleasure to watch you perform this on stage in Annapolis, Maryland USA about a year ago. What an incredible concert and I wanted to thank you for rescheduling your performance in Annapolis. It was my dream to see you perform live on stage in a small concert setting and it was the best concert ever, one that I will never forget ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Thank you ❤️
Always. All of you and Bono of course. Miss (Saudades) of those who left, it is what remains of those who stayed. 💐Flowers from Lisbon, beloved Moya. Greetings to all of you 🇵🇹
I swear to God and my life that I started liking Bono only after this piece of music. To this day, I only like this performance, but I don't think it's because of him
This charted when I was in school. I knew the song but that was it. Then one day I had to walk home during what would later be known as the storm of the century. I arrived home half drowned so naturally my mum sent me off to shower. As I was showering in the lovely warmth this started playing on the radio in the bathroom and somehow the whole thing became elevated somehow and I've loved it ever since with the song causing feelings of warm steamy relaxation.
Espiritualidad en uno de sus más sentidos la solemnidad la soledad la sencillez la belleza y La Paz todo esto a través de saber que siempre está presente la muerte y la vida.
Once when visiting Washington D.C. I went into an Irish Culture shop in Georgetown. Got into a discussion with the lovely young Irish lady behind the counter about Irish music. She insisted I had to hear this album. She was right, you know.
I don't think anyone's ever gotten this kind of presence out of Bono before or again. He usually oversings and over-passions the entire song instead of building, and the rest of the band is right there blaring through the entire song with him. It's always shocking to hear him on this, because you recognize the voice but you never hear that voice giving such an electric performance. With or Without You I guess is as close as we got, but it still had to get loud and shouty and stay that way. It's got passion, but not whatever it is they got out of him on this song.
Dee told me that her family had a band so when they came to Boston years ago we went to see them...Amazing...from that point on whenever they came over in the area we would see them play...lucky enough to meet them in person back stage after a concert and when Moya would come to the Cape for a benefit concert would meet up with her ...and the Naked Baby...lol
It's amazing to see this masterpiece here... It's been a while since I've listened to this, and also it's great that you combined it with Caisleáin Óir.
Hard to tell or recognize a sign To see me through a warning sign First the thunder satisfied, if the past it will not lie (then the storm) The future (torn asunder) you and I, get blown away (in the storm) (In a lifetime) (In a lifetime) And as the rain it falls (we begin again) heavy in my heart As the storm breaks through (believe the light in you) so the light shines in you Without color, faded and worn Torn asunder in the storm Unless the sound can save your body and soul Unless it disappears Selfish storms, oh, the mystery (first the thunder, then the storm) Torn aside (one life) in the storm In a lifetime In a lifetime In a lifetime In a lifetime
A little off topic from Moya and Bono… I was listening to the B52’s song “Girl from Ipanema Goes to Greenland” the other day, and it crossed my mind that if the rest of U2 had done a song with the rest of the sisters at that time, it might have sounded a lot like that. But then I noticed that at 1m52s in the B52s’ official greenscreen video, the face of Cindy’s brother and band founder member Ricky appears in the rising moon as a memorial to him after his sudden early-30’s death, and it reminded me of what I hated about the 50th anniversary version of the “In a Lifetime” song, namely that Uncle Padraig was airbrushed out as if he had never existed and there was no credit given to all the other family members who had helped so much over the 50 years either. Even Uncle Noel was permanently hidden behind Moya’s harp apart from less than a second. Leon could have been in the background holding a toolbox, an accounts book and some merch, with Dee and Bridi (holding her solo album?) and even Baba (holding a photo of Leo?) without whom none of it would have happened. And that’s without the elephant in the room of Enya: when I saw the lone figure in black walking up the hill I was instantly happy that they were all back together again for the 50th! but it turned out to be some random African who (regardless of her nice voice) hasn’t been seen again with them. Clannad always said they weren’t political, but it seemed to me they’d managed to make a warped version of the Hourglass song: “Four Grey Walls That Were Built To Last” and “Just Because Her Skin Was Brown”. At least Moya’s recent solo song prominently and repeatedly featured a photo of Leon as a memorial.
The 80s were so much fun. This was certainly in that soundtrack.
I've said it a million times, but this song is pure magic. ❤💓💕
and magic is a sin.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. The vocals are amazing.
Some of Bono's BEST work....the lyrics and the passion and the correct intensity he puts in each time at the right moment !!!
Growing up with the Robin Hood Series in the early 80's, I was enchanted by your Music and listen to it ever since.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
OMG!! this song and the video looks soooo great! 💚💚 Clannad with Bono is magnificent!

This is the album that introduced me to Clannad and this was my wedding song. ❤
Hauntingly magically beautiful.

Абсолютный шедевр...
I love this song,

A magical song, always special to me ❤

This is an authentic diamond
Bono is dreamy in that 😍
This is the song that showed me Clannad. But I've never seen the video. It's like being catapulted to a different world 😔
In A Lifetime... The song that, so many years ago, got this American to fall in love with your music and genre... Cheers!
For me it was Theme from Harry's Game. The Volkswagen commercials.
@@lordvoldamort4606 Absolutely... So many classics!
For years they were all I could think about...musically that is.
Patriot Games for me: I was 9.
❤Wow 🤩
Amazing song.
Ancora dopo tanti anni quando l ascolto mi vengono i brividi
So beautiful ❤
Amo da impazzire questo brano, è quello che mi ha fatto conoscere i Clannad. Divino. Da brividi., 💓
Your sax player is awesome, btw.
One of those songs that you could never do on Karioki night.
Special forever❤👏👏👏👏👏👏💯

Ich liebe den Song seitdem ich ihn das erste Mal gehört habe ❤❤❤
Hard to tell or recognize a sign
To see me through a warning sign
First the thunder satisfied, if the past it will not lie (then the storm)
The future (torn asunder) you and I, get blown away (in the storm)
(In a lifetime)
(In a lifetime)
And as the rain it falls (we begin again) heavy in my heart
As the storm breaks through (believe the light in you) so the light shines in you
Without color, faded and worn
Torn asunder in the storm
Unless the sound can save your body and soul
Unless it disappears
Selfish storms, oh, the mystery (first the thunder, then the storm)
Torn aside (one life) in the storm
In a lifetime
In a lifetime
In a lifetime
In a lifetime
May I be the first to say thank you for taking the time to add the lyrics ❤
@ And a what a big pleasure this has been for me! Thank you so much for your kind words too!
Mysterious haunting and beautiful
THE BEST!!!! ❤

Long live Ireland and HER PEOPLE. What's being done to Ireland is evil. Ireland belongs to the Irish!
then FIGHT for her ....when did we let evil become stronger than us?
❤ Clannad pity about U2 after they left Ireland 🇮🇪 😢
🤍
Bono is such a WEF sellout...pos
Poor quality video
Past and present Ireland. ❤
I don't like bono
❤
