My poitie is older than me.I inherited it from the grand parents who had it as a coal scuttle in th 40s or 50s.
    Made in falkirk Scotland.
I will be using it this weekend on a tripod with a charcoal burner slung underneath.

first video that I have seen that's nearly spot on I am also brit with 20 years potjie experience
just a couple points I always put " soft veg in after root veg and don't wait if the fire is right they will cook properly as the bottom of the pot has the most heat. NEVER take the lid off to check and sniff the whole point is to keep the steam and pressure and heat the same throughout the cooking after 2 hours you stir prior to serving but it looks ok to me
    cheers jou englese rooi nek

i like that little metal pot with the legs youre putting your coals in. is that a commercial product or did you put some kickstand legs on a bbq grill?

Hi Keith. Hope you're having a fantastic weekend. We manufacture the PotjieKing portable stainless steel braai stand you are referring to. Head to our website www.potjieking.com for more info. Get in touch if you have any questions.

@@potjieking5280 thank you! i see you have an american distributor.....i cant wait to get started. will it fit a #4 potjie?

@@echinacea100 it should easily fit a size 4. Any size flat bottom pot can rest on top. We use up to a size 6 round bottom pot. Depends on how wide apart the potjie pots legs are. As long as they aren't wider than the top of the potjieking (26 cm diameter) then you're good to go :)

everything goes in at the same time first the meat, make it brown, and onions, then hard veg potato etc herbs next then stock or beer wine then soft veg do not stir put lid for 1 to 2 hours do not remove lid after 1 1/2 hour stir gently if it ready serve if not cook longer curry is good with lamb or goat

Wow, you kept one of the Golden Rules namely DO NOT STIR ... If you do stir it is not "Potjie" but it is rather a stew cooked in a three legged potbelly shaped cast iron cooking vessel ... Am I right for I get endless arguments about this but thank you for this upload ...
