For us Japanese, "KOKUYO Campus" is one of the most familiar notebooks. This is the first time I've heard about the manufacturing process. Thank you. Greetings from Japan to all those who love stationery.
I love the Japanese esthetic in so many stationery products. Kokuyo, Hobonichi, Travelers, so many wonderful pens, erasers, inks, desktop items, etc. We are very lucky to have JetPens here in the U.S. now to bring us many of these products. Their website is absolutely perfect regarding product display, testing, comparisons, along with so many videos now available. I hope that JetPens can come back to Japan for MORE of these factory tours. Love this video !
I'm jealous! They cost much more in America than I imagine they do in Japan. Otherwise I would gladly use Kokuyo Campus notebooks over US brands. They are the ideal notebook in my opinion.
I’ve been using kokuyo notebooks for a while now. When I run out, it’s really hard going back to using the things I used before. You can really tell the care and attention that was put into making the notebooks, and it makes writing in them so much better. Thank you to all the workers at the factory, I am unironically a big fan of your work.
@@Psykel Yeah, you can really tell the care and attention they put into the Midori MD, unfortunately they don’t make them in my preferred format. Otherwise that would be my journaling brand, no questions asked. I love fountain pens on MD paper. But for work I have to have kokuyo. The 6mm dotted line is perfect for how I take notes and develop projects.
More "how it's made" videos if/when you can JetPens. This was outstanding. I see here in the comments a post from someone in Japan who grew up with Kokuyo notebooks, and remarked that this is the first time he/she is able to see how they are crafted ! Thanks to JetPens !
I think this is the first time I've actually beat the notifications! Getting a chance to see how some of my favorite notebooks are made is fascinating! I hope other facilities will open their doors to you soon!
This was so cool, getting to see where/how my precious Kokuyo paper is made. If I had one of those printed rolls, I'd be in heaven, lol... I had to chuckle at Josh light-checking the paper. :) As an American, it's so neat to see Sakura just...growing wild...out in the middle of fields. Fields! Here along the East Coast of the US, you only see those in Washington DC (a gorgeous and generous gift from Japan starting over a hundred years ago, and another 250 of them just this year!) or when someone has paid a lot of money to have one planted in their yard. Even though Sakura normally only live 30-40 years, the first two Sakura gifted to DC in 1912 are still alive today.
I've worked in many factories, even food / supplements ones, and I've never seen one so clean. This is on another level. They take such good care it's amazing.
I've worked in clean rooms and government labs where cleanliness were important and... KPS is the cleanest factory ever lol and I imagine they're not even a clean room!
I want to thank all the workers and robots for creating such wonderful products. I'm seriously thinking of getting Kokuyo Campus Notebooks for my kids for school this semester. I loathe most American stationery, especially school notebooks and pens.
I love how much care and attention goes into perfecting a product like this. Sounds cheesy I know, but knowing this background elevates the everyday experience of using it. I’ve actually never used a Campus notebook but I’m a big fan of Kokuyo’s Jibun Techo planners so I’ll have to try a Campus notebook.
Wonderful! Somehow I feel Japan is like visiting the Elves. Everything is advanced, everyone is diligent, all is perfect. Thank you JetPens and KPS for this behind the scenes look!
Please do more of these! I always love seeing how Japan is continually innovating in the products they produce. It always seems like everything is made with great care and attention to detail.
that was so cool! thank you to the KPS company for letting us see it and the jetpens team for also making the trip and this video! I love seeing how things are made especially stationery also, really loved the little tabs at the top of the video! it made me smile (:
The care to the details is why I love this paper so much, even if I was unaware of some details like the lines allingment. Thank you Kokuyo, thank you Jetpens
I loved this! I never would have guessed that the notebooks stay in groups of three until the very end, but it makes a lot of sense! So neat! I'd love to see more videos like this, when the opportunity arises!
🍃I am guessing here, but since foil is a good barrier to light and oxygen the unused templates are wrap in this material for protection from deterioration. 😊🍃 P.S loved the video!
@@argella1300 I was going to say that but saw they were wearing clean room gear so didn’t want to imply dust may be in there but if you have paper, then you have dust 🤣
I always love to see how things are made. This video reminds me of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. It's also good to see Josh again. I'm looking forward to a Josh and Stephanie video.
Great job Josh and team! JP has become quite the video production powerhouse. Will we see a feature length documentary some day? Kokuyo is by far my favorite notebook, and so a big ありがとう to the good people at KPS. And to the good people at JP for making it available here in the US, a big thank you as well.
That was incredible, I didn't even guess how much precision and work goes in making these great notebooks. Love your store and your dedication to stationery! You guys are great!
My all-time favorite notebook, loose-leaf paper, and word cards. Kokuyo produces the best paper. Here in America, we don't have the same level of paper quality that most students and regular people can afford.
I ordered C-Coletto 5-cartridge barrel pen plus 0.4 cartridges in different colors. It arrived 2 days ago and I'm awestruck ❤❤❤ Thank you, JetPens and Pilot ❤❤❤
Amazing! Hope to see more of these types of vids. As for the why the templates were covered with foil it may be to keep the templates clean from dust and debris.
Excellent video. Loved learning about the process! Appreciate you being considerate of their confidential in house machines by not posting video footage of it ❤
Wow, thank you for the content! It's nice to know the making process. Best notebook I ever use. Whether for work or self study, I love to write on this notebook.❤
Awesome to be able to see how the Kokuyo Campus Notebooks are made. Might there be a chance we get to see how Kokuyo Perpanep is made in the future? Debating to get thatnotebook next for my morning pages routine.
I LOVE this!! I love "how it's made" videos!! That they were hospitable to JetPens is so heart warming. This totally upped my purchasing intention. I prefer 9x11 paper. Do they make anything that big?
so Kokuyo USA made the college ruled loose leaf paper here In America or in Japan? That's so cool! But I am so used to writing either on 5mm or 6mm dot lined looseleaf paper. But hey, a lot of high school and college students used these for their note taking. This is a very cool video how Kokuyo produces their notebooks. I wonder if you can do a future video segment with Bande washi tape products especially the washi sticker roll.
Haaaaaa.... are the templates photosensetive at all? Do they risk changing or fading in light? Are they actually made of chocolate and need to be wrapped until easter?
Kokuyo now offers Campus items in North American layouts! Shop them here: to.jetpens.com/3y3KYDF

@@Superfluffyfish Yeah, I just use it in my spare time for journaling and stuff. Sadly don’t have much use for pen and paper writing for work.
i agree, i love how the notebooks are made to make every step in their use easy!
This was so cool!! I'd love to see more 'how it's made' style vids! Thanks for all your hard work making this video!
How It's Made, JetPens style! Very interesting!

I would absolutely recommend them. Or the loose leaf paper in their binders. The paper quality is just so much better, it's worth it

I don't think it is cheesy. Abu Garcia has a beautiful documentary on how they came to build fishing reels.
So cool! I wish i had campus notebooks when i was in school! Now i use the half sized for quick notes at work!

as a stationery nerd and ultimate fan of Kokuyo notebooks, this is so 🤯 Wish I could visit it someday

🌿So Jet Pen why is foil used on the unused templates? I curious on the answer 😅🌿
I love my campus notebook. The paper is amazing!
This is so cool! I love seeing these types of How It's Made videos and would love to see more if JetPens ever has the opportunity to do that
Guessing the templates are covered in foil to keep static electricity from causing any unwanted particles on them??? Idk
My guess was dust and debris

I can confirm the soft ring notebooks are the chef's kiss.
Excellent!
Could you also do similar episodes on platinum, sailor, pilot fountain pens??
Thanks.
I bet the workers are proud to produce the notebooks they used themselves.
Excellent tour, and loved seeing Tobita-kun!!!
You should do more of these films for other products

So cool! I've been using these since college.
Joooosh!!! Make more of the jetpens videos please!!! 🤩🤩🤩
This is very cool to see! Thanks for taking us behind the scenesl
Love the commute footage as well.

Soooo nice, I'va always wondering about the brand production... Thanks
Also love the Campus notebooks in China!
So awesome
hope to see how they make hobonichi notebooks since the paper is so thin!
How fun!
it'd be great if you offered japanese subtitles with this video as well as the english ones.

I was not ready for the Japanese voice hahaha but it was fascinating to see this ❤
I should probably move to Japan just for the stationery
so cool
Very interesting!
Does it work well with fountain pens?
Love the video but i have a question about shipping.
Do you ship internationally, i live in the uk and want to purchase but it is all in american.
lol what a bunch of nerds. I mean I definitely would go too if I had the chance 🤭
But I want to know how they made the super smooth paper
Watching a video about how notebooks are made was not on my today list 😂
Does anyone know who manufactures the machines for kokuyo?
Perhaps I missed it but what is the GSM weight (grams/m2) of the paper? Anyone? Thanks
Haaaaaa.... are the templates photosensetive at all? Do they risk changing or fading in light? Are they actually made of chocolate and need to be wrapped until easter?
Anyone recommend a certain pen for these notebooks?
