Steamers are nice too because you can safely use them on really delicate fabrics. They are also nice for stuff that would be difficult to iron like sheets and curtain (it’s not important, but curtains usually come folded up so they have big wrinkles)
Here’s a tip from me. After you get set up in your dorm, look around a bit in the dorm and dorm lounge, and take note of anything they don’t have that you’d _possibly_ want. After a couple of weeks, if you _still_ want it, then you could look into getting it
just so some new students know not every dorm has trashcans and you should read up on what the dorm supplies. I also recommend using your laptop for any streaming services but if you like gaming you will have room for your tv and console. Have a great first semester.
My dorm didn't have a trashcan , it had a big one in the corridor. So I bought one for the room and just emptied it out weekly. My roommates were grateful.
on the first day i go to uni and need move to my own dorm room i just simply drove my family van and brought nearly all my belongings from my bedroom 😂
I also feel like it would be a good idea to contact the college and ask what’s in the dorms so you can plan out what you need and don’t need and already have
Music student here with ADHD. A TV is a must have, but not as a TV. Using it as a second screen for classes that need two screens and/or a background video.
Steamers are not a replacement for irons. Not all fabrics can be steamed. Plus the fact most irons nowadays come with inbuilt steamers. I think especially if your major or job while in college requires nice-looking clothes (law, etc), an iron with inbuilt steamer and ironing board is a must.
College sophomore, here one iron and boards are not allowed in the dorms and two a TV is very much necessary if you’re someone who watches it or play games
Here’s some things I’d recommend getting: desk lamp, shoe rack (if u have more than one pair of shoes), water filter which you can keep in your mini fridge, headphones/ear plugs and an eye mask for if your roommate is working while you’re trying to sleep. (Also, absolutely bring a tv, you’ll regret not having it)
Glad you didn’t just get rid of the capability to de-wrinkled clothing! I have an iron steamer combo sort of thing and an ironing board. I see irons or steamers being marked as not needed at all but sometimes you need to iron some clothing for an interview, career fair, performance, important presentation, etc.
When I was a freshman and sophomore, watching TV in the dorm was essential. Gathered with all my friends and playing sports games or mortal combat is how we became close, and it is a tradition we play together every time we meet up, even if we all go our separate ways. If you can find a place for it, you 100 percent need it. Multi-player games with friends in your private space are game changers. You would be surprised how close people can get when all gathered around the game cohesively.
A small foldable cart for groceries, the ones provided by the dorm are always missing. Especially if your parking lot is a long way away from your dorm.
My room did not come with a trashcan. The bathrooms cane with trash cans, and there was a trash room, but not an intermediate option for my room. Now, both of my roommates and myself brought trashcans, so we had three trashcans, but they didn't come with the room. Other side note, electric heating pad is great for muscle cramps and are generally small enough that you can fold them up and forget about them when not in use.
surge protect only work if your outlets are grounded. And most if not all of surge protectors doesn't actually protect you from surges. Atleast not the cheap ones.
i will respectfully take back that ironing board, because resetting knife pleats in vintage wool skirts becomes incredibly difficult if you don’t have one.
Best tips -Get an extension cord please. -Never use cello tape for the wall it rips, don't use blue tack because it's flimsy, use command strips. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE HANGING TAPESTRIES. -Scissors are a must - If you do not have a dryer (or if you want to cut cost on bills), get an indoor clothes 'maiden'. Saves a lot of money. -You probably do not have a TV in your house. If you are a student, don't worry too much about having a TV license. -DOWNLOAD STUDENT BEANS (or your countries equivalent) (if you go to restaurants, themeparks...etc always ask if they do a student discount) -Don't get a gym membership if you hate the gym. Instead, get a cheaper membership to use a swimming pool. Find a nice place in your area to walk. When you get a close friend, start to go on walks with eachother and hold eachother accountable. -Microwave meals are cheap, but frozen food is always cheaper. You can buy frozen vegetables that can be defrosted in the microwave. -Vitamin pills/cod liver oil tablets, are very good, especially if you are not eating enough vitamins. -Get a kettle if you drink coffee and buy instant (don't buy a coffee maker) -Deep fryers are very good, but it's likely that somebody else in your dorm will have one. -Get a freelance online job (like dataannotation). It is really a lifesaver, especially if you haven't found a job within the first 6 months. -Make connections with people through clubs in your area (art halls, if you live in a city a lot of creative clubs are cheap or free) -Societies are very expensive, but remember that you do not have to join the one in your uni, you as a student, can join societies in other universities (some have better options) -Find close friends this way, it's important to have people you can rely on. When you or they are in trouble, help each other out (money, lost items, need something...etc).

That was incredibly smooth 😅
Whiteboards are good for those moment where you go insane and turn into a detective.
Still getting those small 10 inch tvs truckers use
Can you talk about tips for being elected to student council in high school i.e. president, vice president etc
damn bro flowed that hella hard he legit said overrated only like once
Steamers are nice too because you can safely use them on really delicate fabrics. They are also nice for stuff that would be difficult to iron like sheets and curtain (it’s not important, but curtains usually come folded up so they have big wrinkles)
My life changed when I bought a whiteboard. I knew it was gonna be useful, but never thought it would be SO useful.
Love your vids bro❤
Until the roommate wastes all the battery in your power bank
“Ahgggggggggggg” moment
Slides are unneeded, just walk around in socks.
That’s not gonna fly in a bathroom. Unless you’re cool with soaking your socks on whatever the hell is on the floor this time.
@@abysslight2490 Fair point.
Dawgs gonna genuinely help me once im in college or uni.
Savinf the vids for future needs
kind of ironic that he tells you he doesn't need a TV in your dorm as there's a TV in his door. lol
Underrated: a projector since most dorms have blank white walls that work perfectly as screens
You don't need a TV if you already have a laptop
Unfortunatley, my university made students get their own bedroom, bathroom AND kitchen trashcans.
My roommates were grateful.
i can confirm my dorm did not have a trash can, i have to walk all the way down the hall to throw out trash.
POWER BANKS SAVED ME
TV is literally the only thing in that list you need to
An iron is actually necessary if your slacks are designed to have an iron line starting at the pleating
the point about the tv, missed opportunity, use ur laptop that way you don’t have to deal with other ppl wanting to use the lounge tv
A steamer is not nearly on the same level as an iron. If you're gonna use it get an iron
This man is the reason I have a Playlist named “Future”😂
This man has never been on a college campus before
on the first day i go to uni and need move to my own dorm room i just simply drove my family van and brought nearly all my belongings from my bedroom 😂
I just graduated college and had all of these items. Absolutely listen to this guy, these are the essentials
Never realized how the store colors was so plain and the products just looked like they had life sucked from them
I also feel like it would be a good idea to contact the college and ask what’s in the dorms so you can plan out what you need and don’t need and already have
Music student here with ADHD. A TV is a must have, but not as a TV. Using it as a second screen for classes that need two screens and/or a background video.
If you have the money buy a $60 monitor like onn or surf, it's super worth and makes doing your work easier with 2 screens
“In the trash can your room already has” bro I didn’t?!?!?!?!?!?!?
This guy is the best matrix advisor
Steamers are not a replacement for irons. Not all fabrics can be steamed. Plus the fact most irons nowadays come with inbuilt steamers. I think especially if your major or job while in college requires nice-looking clothes (law, etc), an iron with inbuilt steamer and ironing board is a must.
Actually, TVs are a must because a lot of dorm options are apartment style dorms. They don’t come furnished.
Gohar you kinda undercooked this one still raw
A electric kettle is also a must. It allows you to make coffee and tea and so many different instant meals.
College sophomore, here one iron and boards are not allowed in the dorms and two a TV is very much necessary if you’re someone who watches it or play games
Another underated item: shopping bags
Here’s some things I’d recommend getting: desk lamp, shoe rack (if u have more than one pair of shoes), water filter which you can keep in your mini fridge, headphones/ear plugs and an eye mask for if your roommate is working while you’re trying to sleep. (Also, absolutely bring a tv, you’ll regret not having it)
"dorm loung" crying in 6 plastic chairs in the kitchen. we didnt even have wifi. we had to buy our own wifi.
I have never seen someone use a whiteboard for more than a week
i just naturally think the college has a supermarket-like appliance store
Please keep posting this stuff until I go to college😭
surge protect only work if your outlets are grounded. And most if not all of surge protectors doesn't actually protect you from surges. Atleast not the cheap ones.
Idk bout yall but i definatly brought a TV. I watched football every sunday, played my ps4, and had my shows to watch as i fell asleep.
i will respectfully take back that ironing board, because resetting knife pleats in vintage wool skirts becomes incredibly difficult if you don’t have one.
literally none of my schools dorms i’ve ever lived in has provided a trash can 😭😭
Best tips
-Get an extension cord please.
-Never use cello tape for the wall it rips, don't use blue tack because it's flimsy, use command strips. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE HANGING TAPESTRIES.
-Scissors are a must
- If you do not have a dryer (or if you want to cut cost on bills), get an indoor clothes 'maiden'. Saves a lot of money.
-You probably do not have a TV in your house. If you are a student, don't worry too much about having a TV license.
-DOWNLOAD STUDENT BEANS (or your countries equivalent) (if you go to restaurants, themeparks...etc always ask if they do a student discount)
-Don't get a gym membership if you hate the gym.
-Get a kettle if you drink coffee and buy instant (don't buy a coffee maker)
-Deep fryers are very good, but it's likely that somebody else in your dorm will have one.
-Get a freelance online job (like dataannotation). It is really a lifesaver, especially if you haven't found a job within the first 6 months.
-Make connections with people through clubs in your area (art halls, if you live in a city a lot of creative clubs are cheap or free)
-Societies are very expensive, but remember that you do not have to join the one in your uni, you as a student, can join societies in other universities (some have better options)
-Find close friends this way, it's important to have people you can rely on. When you or they are in trouble, help each other out (money, lost items, need something...etc).
you'd be surprised how many college dorms don't have personal trash cans
If you study math or physics, whiteboards are a life changer, they make your mind more clear and give you more space for calculations.
Trash cans are not necessary at all if you hang your disposable shopping bags from door knobs
I’d say a TV is more necessary than a power bank.
I mean I would get a tv so I can just lay in bed and fall asleep watching something
