    Thanks for this video.
    I think that Antalya in particular cannot be taken as a benchmark for the whole of Turkey, because almost everything is expensive there due to the many tourists and foreigners living there.
    Away from these tourist areas and cities like İstanbul and Ankara, the prices are usually much lower, even if they have risen there too, of course.
    Go to cities like Bursa, Eskişehir or Kütahya, many things are much cheaper ...

    Thank you for doing this. We did a car tour all over Turkey for a month back in 2016 and thought the prices were good then compared to Canada. If we went there today the trip would cost us a fraction of what we paid then. More comparable to travelling in SE Asia. Like we did in Egypt in 2019 we would tip heavily in order to do our small part to help the individual locals.

    You should have asked the shops about the prices of these foods before the Lira crisis. If the prices were increased during the crisis, people who earn in US dollar or Euro might spend more or less the same amount of money on the foods today and before the crisis. Only local people who earn in Lira are affected in this case.

    I think ur grocery comment is misleading. Migros actually is not cheap, BIM and A101 are the cheapest. While Marcro, in these fancy malls, there is no way U buy grocery there, it is more like “eataly” or “whole food” in US, we only go there for specialty or imported product which We can’t find anywhere in other supermarkets, even for ppl who make high salary in US, I barely shop in Marcro. Also Turkey has a lot of local farm markets, which are very cheap and good quality, with huge variety of meat, fish, veggies, delis..where real local goes.

    • @OlgaProGoingPlaces
      @OlgaProGoingPlaces  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for your comment! Yes, small shops like BIM, A101 and Sok are the cheapest. But Migros is the cheapest big supermarket I’ve been to, that is also almost in every district of Antalya.
      I do agree about the Macro and talk about the same thing in the video - it is a place to find specialty/foreign foods. Although I noticed some of the “normal” foods are the same price as Migros (milk, bread).
      For the markets - they can be challenging if you don’t speak at least a little Turkish. We do shop there sometimes, and I recommend every foreigner should support local farmers 👍

    Personal Suggestion:
    Can you please add a video with some rating on pros vs. cons for a tourist spending a month or two there, living comfortably ( average) language barrier, price difference for tourist vs. locals etc. It would also be nice to add a week of expense to get a general idea of what to expect. Thank you 😊

      I'm wondering how you can have fun with only $250 a month. (you don't have a house, you don't have a car and you're a recent college graduate, just imagine)

      The price of produce has gone up dramadicly. Tomatoes and peppers used to be 4 lira/kilo just 5 years ago (or less?) and now they are 20 lira/kilo. Families are struggling. You can be sure of that. There are no long lines, but inflation is out of control for the local population.

    How can a country undergoing a currency collapse still seem to safe and orderly? In many parts of the US, which of course is home to the world reserve currency, it looks like a war zone or a 3rd world country.

    I can see the restaurants depend on locals. So they aren't able to keep up with price inflation.

    • @OlgaProGoingPlaces
      @OlgaProGoingPlaces  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Turkey the conditions for farming are very good, so most of the food is grown and made locally. So probably prices at restaurants don't have to rise as quickly as say, IPhone prices (or anything else that's 100% imported)

    Nice informative video! Today, December 25, 2021 the Turkish lLira is trading at about 11L=$1US, a substantial improvement from last week! The Turkish Center Bank had to step in and buy Lira to prop up the currency! The sad thing is the average Turkish🇹🇷 family are the ones who suffer the most with these inflation & currency problems!

    Hi Olga, It is very interesting. I would like to go visit Turkey and stay for several months there but worry about if I should see a doctor there. How does the healthcare system work for foreigners?

    • @OlgaProGoingPlaces
      @OlgaProGoingPlaces  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I don't have much experience with healthcare in Turkey. But I keep hearing it's good. Also medicine is very cheap and good quality here, I heard there is a serious penalty for counterfeit medicine in Turkey.

    When you quote fruit prices, kindly include the units of measure, such as per kilo, pound, dozen, etc.

    • @OlgaProGoingPlaces
      @OlgaProGoingPlaces  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everywhere in Europe/Asia measurement unit is kilo, not pound. Usually it’s on the price tag if it’s for dozen etc. Otherwise I have no way of finding out myself ☺️
