@@Hommo_Cosmicus Nonsense. For most of the last 2,000 years, China was one of the world's two largest economies. China was briefly interrupted by the so-called century of humiliation.
China has recovered in the last 75 years. China is once again one of the world's two largest economies. In fact, China is the largest economy by _purchasing power parity,_ which is a more meaningful metric when comparing national economies.
China grew from total impoverishment in 1979 to be the world's largest economy by purchasing power parity in just 35 years. And China did it without firing a shot! No other world power in history has grown so *large,* so *quickly,* and so *peacefully.*

Benjamin is such a wise person in analysing such a complex economic differences between China and US. He is very knowledgeable. I hope he can join a socialist/communist party in US to help change the whole political structure of US. He is still young. First he need to let the people in US to get rid of the fear of the word "communist". The US media have been able to coin the word "communist" into a dirty and fearful word for the past decades.

I think calling it socialist would work better.

    • @geobot9k

@@pleiadesstarr453Labels are unimportant since they're only symbols of a meaning. The only thing that matters is actions that materially helps the people. These deeds serves as evidence for alignment with the people. Pretty rhetoric is fine and all but without actions that materially help people they're just empty words. In recent years many communist led organizations have started growing in communities. From the conversations I've had in poor black and brown neighborhoods where orgs are active the word "communist" is a now a very positive word. Join an org, get involved, decolonize your mind, and help develop community so we can start collectively asserting ourselves.

Because of China's long history and cultural identity, Chinese shows solidarity way much stronger than Westerners. And Chinese don't see the government as a threat but more as a protector and collaborater, so once the parts decides to this or that, the whole country is united behind it and acchieves results very quickly.
