    That was funny seeing Bill from Alaska Last Frontier Homestead showing up. It was good meeting you both at Bill's place for the BBQ. You will definitely have plenty of tomatoes for all kinds of things to can. The one thing I find about goats is, their friendliness but, mostly their eyes, kinda eerie, lol. Thanks for sharing

      Thanks for watching John. I get it. I used to be terrified of goats. But I was in first grade a big goat attacked me at the bus stop. So that pretty much ruined me for life. That’s why I like these teeny tiny Nigerian dwarf goats. They’re about 80 pounds soaking wet.😊

      That variety of tomatoes seems to be highly resilient. It’s supposed to be a Siberian variety or something like that. I’m definitely seed saving from those plants this year. The stems have tons of little root hairs trying to grow out even halfway up the plant. Much higher than on your regular variety tomatoes. I’m thinking these might be a winner for us. Now if I can just get them out of the house a little earlier next year will be golden. Have a great week Miss Val. They’re still alive and have started producing more flowers and developing the fruit. So far so good.

    I'm impressed with how your poor tangled tomato plants look at the end. The one lonely cherry tomato plant I got for the front porch REALLY seems to like the liquid fish I've been using for fertilizer. (Fish emulsion) Hopefully, your tomatoes maintain their sense of humor, developed by struggling INSIDE for window access & go CRAZY for you in the greenhouse! They should feel lucky to have a FANCY new home - complete with a FANCY door! (I LOVE that door!)
    I didnt realize goats shouldn't have animal crackers. Gotta be really, really careful or ya learn something new every day!!😂

    Nice greenhouse. Animal crackers are still good at my age. Milk is good. Nice neighbor with the free chicken snacks. Snacks for the chickens and not biting you. Oh my goodness. Baby chicks. Wheelbarrow is mine now. Smart handle hack. Some people call homesteaders hoarders. I call them innovative. Look at those beautiful roots. Puns galore. Ah, the sound of rain on the roof top. Ta..da. lol. Treasure. Pretty moth. Hi, Bill. Hat fits. I checked his video out. Long ride to the cabin because of down trees. Stay safe my friends ☺️

      You are sweet. You know, in a perfect world inside my brain, everything is nice and neat and color-coded and labeled. But my world just never works out to be that way so I had to learn to be flexible. It hasn’t been an easy road, but I’m almost there.

    I hope they produce a lot of tomatoes! Several years ago I started watching another channel that is up in northern Canada and she decided that the cherry tomatoes was the best for her to plant and even cans them because they produce so many and so quickly. The short growing season you have makes tomatoes and peppers a real challenge.

    • @FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska
      @FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I need to look into finding a good producing cherry tomato for our climate. There are a few varieties of tomatoes that have consistently done well for me. We can’t grow the big beef steak type tomatoes, but ones that are anywhere from an inch and a half to 2 1/2 inch globe, we can grow those. Subarctic plenty is a good one for us. Also, early Tanana is a good tomato, which was developed here in Alaska. I think we’re just really struggling with the timing of getting the garden prepped in time and getting our infrastructure in place in time before the beginning of the season gets away from us. We’re working on it, and we’ll get there. :-)

    Goats love all kinds of human food. They get all our veggie and fruit scraps. You could also dig a trench for your tomatoes. You just take off all the leaves except the top ones and bury those in the trench. Then you just have a short top. I hope that is a good explanation. love the sound of the rain in the greenhouse.
