At 70 she has beat all her contemporary female rock stars. Still pacs arenas as a solo act and maintains a 45 year old appearance. Still performs better than most. She has been very lucky in life.
I work at the Old Globe in San Diego where Twyla Tharp launched her new musical "The Times They Are A-Changin'". On the day of the last dress rehearsal before that evening's first public performance I was taking my break in the green room when the DR was finished and the cast came in all excited. I peeped in the Globe auditorium through a side door and saw Bob and Twyla sitting in the middle of the (13 rows only) otherwise empty theater. WOW!! I saw him walk out too, knit cap on his head, long scraggly curly hair draped out from underneath, faded black jeans and a gray/black plaid shirt. Walking with Twyla with his hands in his pockets, right past park visitors who had no clue they were so close to a musical legend. The play flopped.
Supposedly, the Australian government was upset at Stevie for doing this; her travel visa did not permit her to perform. However, since she was not billed as a featured artist -- nor was she paid -- Stevie contended that she did nothing wrong.
"....Because you know.... because-all of us-and I don't mean to be preachy- but, we oughta remember (and that means promoters too) that,uh... music's for grooving, man. And music's not for putting yourself through bad changes...You know...? I mean... you don't have to go and take anybody's shit, man... just to like music... You know what I mean...? You don't... So,uh-If your gettin' more shit than you deserve, you know what to do about it, man...." -Janis Joplin addressing her audience, just before her set @ Woodstock, in 1969.
She went with Tom Petty because he was given the opportunity to do this a was going through marriage issues and he was not in a good place.... what an event ❤❤❤❤❤

I keep wondering how crazy this must have been for Stevie. She and Lindsey loved and covered Dylan before they made it big. Crazy amazing! Stevie's power is insane.
I love it! I love it! I love these three special artist together and this is the Stevie Nicks I grew up with! Power to the one’s who did not give up they’re dreams! Excellent song.😘😘😘. 🧚🏻♂️🎸
All of the BeST..WOW..Heavens door. All of the best of US!! Knocking on Heavens Door almost my time, a great way to leave and hopefully, they will sing me into my next life...
Heartbreaking. This was my 27th birthday, just past peak Dylan, Petty, Nicks worship. Never knew anything about this legendary concert and the trouble Australian Immigration Services gave Stevie Nicks for joining in. Thank you for posting it.
not my awesome footage, just my excerpt of the moment. thanks. love the music. Here is a song I wrote for Bob Dylan. th-cam.com/video/AnKkdP298PA/w-d-xo.html
For some reason Stevie stayed away from the American leg of this tour. Followed the tour on the East Coast and she never showed up, too bad , would of loved to see her with Bob and Tom
Maybe just a scheduling issue? Her people were trying to get her own tour mounted and rolling (she opened her own tour on April 11 that year). Too much overlap with dates - for example, Dylan and Petty played Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa June 16-17, and Stevie was booked at that venue for June 29. I’m guessing that Stevie’s management didn’t let her run off for a few days to a Dylan show. They may have been worried that she wouldn’t come back, given how impulsive and bombed she was that year.
I believe this is when Stevie was traveling with Tom and the Heartbeakers but not in the country to preform. Dylan insisted one night Stevie join them onstage and she did, but never rehearsed together. Very impromptu ..... Later, Stevie was almost STOPPED from reentering the county, since she had performed this, when she was not there as an entertainer VISA, but as a simple citizen.... I could be wrong, but.......
@@MarkStClair1 They did block her from coming back to Australia for a while. I was there and couldnt believe my luck to see my favourite singer on stage with two legends. Eventually she did come back to Sydney a couple of years later.
@@christinegreen7272 She returned in September of the same year, in 1986. Her last concerts on the Rock A Little Tour took place in Sydney. Then, it was off to rehab at Betty Ford Clinic; and, right afterwards, back to Fleetwood Mac, to finish up Tango In The Night.
We're recreating this awesome concert tour with our show True Confessions Revisited. Playing shows in Victoria - check out details here - www.dylanesque.com.au
In her day, Stevie Nicks was no joke.
In any day she was no joke. She's still rocking.
At 70 she has beat all her contemporary female rock stars. Still pacs arenas as a solo act and maintains a 45 year old appearance. Still performs better than most. She has been very lucky in life.
She's a joke lately for firing Lindsey Buckingham and replaced by two guitarists.
@@zackzallie8735 I actually have more respect for her for standing her ground against the narcissistic jerk.
Top female rock vocalist ever!
She truly was knockin on Heavens door when this was filmed. Amazing she survived the party
yeah, things changed a lot shortly after this 🥲
Wow. What a rare and special collaboration. Belongs in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame! Stevie at her most raw and fearless. (Thanks for sharing!)
so cool. thanks
Love all of them together. Stevie's voice is so powerful and beautiful in this song. Music will never be the same as it was back then, good ole days ❤
Stevie disappoints on her opinion of Bob. He’s a giant, leave him alone. Lol
"Raw and fearless" perfectly put. And yes thank you so much for sharing this.
I'm here because of Stevie. She is everything. I am her ❤
awesome. fuzzy
no youre not lol
How fortunate was Dylan to have the greatest American rock band ever backing him!
Dylan,Petty and Nick's gets no better a memory that can never be taken away.
One of the best Tom/Steve collabs, shame on the Aussies for not letting her keep doing it.
Stevie Nicks is everything.
Three of the most amazing rock voices of all time!!
Her voice gives me chills then dylan and tom gotta love it

Its Bobs world, we are all just living in it ...
I just love all 3 of these people just not partial, what a Beautiful performance
Very nice. Had not seen this before…. Popped upon one of my news feeds.
Stevie’s voice totally dominates the performance.
It's awful

True story!

This is true, and they wouldn’t let her sing with us at all after this performance. Silly.
Djoker should have known..... if Aussie immigration will mess with Stevie, no one is too big.

50 Shades of Cool on that stage 😎
At :37, when Dylan introduces Stevie, Tom pushes her up to the mike!
Unbelievable, what an incredible concert! The best!
Three titans on one stage. Absolutely BIBLICAL.
EXCELLENT!!!! Thanks for posting.
3 amazing artists. Bob Dylan - Tom Petty - Stevie Nicks
Love how they do this song!!

Hard To Handle is great but a whole True Confessions box set would be even more welcome.

WOW
Oh to be Stevie 😭
Dylan and Nicks...
They should've already done something together, not just a live or a tour.
I have never seen Bob Dylan so animated. I guess Stevie did that to him.
As far I'm concerned she ruins the whole performance.
I was there it sounded I lot better then the dodgy recording
Of course it did! I’m jealous of you
She came in like a wrecking ball.

Your correct. That was the story at the time. Though the Aussies love her and the Mac. I don’t believe they would ever deny her a work Visa later

so true. fuzzy
The 80s were a seriously down decade for a lot of artists from the 70s, such as Nicks and Dylan.
th-cam.com/video/AnKkdP298PA/w-d-xo.html here is a song I wrote for Bob Dylan
That time Stevie nearly got deported from Australia… thank goodness for Molly 😂🇦🇺🦘🐨
Stevie, Stevie!!!!😅😅😅
The Stevie patrol can object but this song does not suit her contralto range. She is shouting not harmonizing.
looks like a fun show had by all players though. fuzzy
ehhhhh No. Thanks anyway Stevie.
Stevie Nicks absolutely did not fit into this.
but those two loved Stevie, and The Staple Singers on this tour
Wrong
Wrong. Looks & sounds like she owned the song
You are wrong she is amazing in this song
Opinions are like assholes. Everyone’s got one.
Terrible!
?
dont speak to yourself like that
Leave it with Petty and Dylan. Stevie was overkill, on this occasion.
