  • Is the Samsung S21 Ultra still worth it in 2023?
    In this video I give you my real world experience with the phone. A few days into using it again I felt like I hadn't even stopped, it was easy to use, fast, and design wise there was no significant difference. So I took it with me on a trip to New York to really figure out, is the S21 Ultra still worth buying in 2023 or should you upgrade to the S23 Ultra?

    I've had the S21 ultra since it came out and I still love it. I haven't seen a realistic reason to get a new phone.

      Probably the only big reason I'd tell u to upgrade is if you prioritize the spen, and meanwhile, the s21 ultra has spen support. It's not always convenient to have it bundled with the case and having to purchase a special case that has a spen slot, u can't buy any cases that you liking. The other reason I'd tell u to upgrade is battery life and gaming as you have noticed the s21 series and s22 series and not just samsung but the SD 888 and 8 Gen 1 were having heating and throttling issues getting delisted from benchmarks and stuff, the SD 8+ Gen 1 and Gen 2 are massive improvement. While I wouldn't say it's necessary to upgrade, I'd say from an s21 ultra it's a good upgrade from an s22 ultra if gaming and battery life matters upgrade otherwise don't. Anyone coming from s20 series or older and any of the note series, this is the time to upgrade, and Samsung is giving more trade in credit for older notes 10+ and s20 ultra more than its worth, they go as far as giving $900 trade in credit for note 20 ultra which is not even worth half that in the brand new market

      @Prince Malachi like I said, it's a good upgrade, not a necessary upgrade for everyone. The main upgrade for me really is the spen that a reason alone to upgrade it's the reason why people choose the note series instead of the s series. I upgraded from the s21 ultra to the s23 ultra got good trade in deals, and I'm honestly glad I don't have to deal with the case crop anymore.

      I agree with you I just had to get the s23 ultra otherwise I would have had to pay 820 Canadian dollars to outright own bs-21 Ultra which is been dropped more than once it is at halfway in its entirety of a battery life justifies getting the 23 Ultra but to be honest I preferred the rounded edges the s20 ultra and for some reason until some update corrects the problem is 23 Ultra camera shutter is actually slower than it's two-year-old predecessor

    I had one and loved it. Got caught up in the S22 Ultra hype. Traded it in and instantly regretted it. Sold S22U because battery life was actually worse than the S21U, got a 13 Pro Max then got bored with stagnant IOS, sold it got a Pixel 7 Pro. Recently decided to sell it because its so buggy, although they did resolve a lot of other issues the Pixel 6 Pro had.
    Last week I ordered a 16/512GB S21 Ultra on eBay for $539 refurbished in excellent condition, comes with a one year warranty too. I missed the form factor, decent battery life, and there is just something special about how it feels in the hand.
    It may be a "sidegrade" compared to my Pixel 7 Pro, but honesly I couldnt be happier. I get updates into 2025. Its still a VERY powerful phone. Takes good photos. And it just has a certain charm to it.
    Glad to be back.

      Me too. I went on to S22, flip, fold and then back to S21 Ultra. There’s nothing I want to get over the S21 Ultra. I’ll probably change the battery or get another one before I go for anything else. If I change the battery, I still think it will hold up through to 2025 when the software updates are still rolling out. I think it is my favourite ever phone and I didn’t think I would say that after the Oneplus 7 Pro. The only reason I would personally go S23U is the extra battery life. However, the design and form factor of the S21U is more appealing to me!

    • @Shan_Shah

      I'd say u paid a bit too much on a refurbished model like I wouldn't have paid more than $449 for a refurbished phone u can find a brand new s21 ultra 16/512 for $549

    • @Shan_Shah
      @Shan_Shah ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd say the s21 ultra is a better phone than the pixel 7, u get the better display, better camera setup and more camera features, spen support and samsung dex, I'd say the s21 ultra is $300 better than even a pixel 7 pro, the only real advantage pixel 7 pro has is getting updates quicker because ofcourse its a Google phone and will get android 16. Both will get updates until 2025. The pixel 7 pro only has a few months of lead over the s21 ultra so I'd say it's an upgrade and the pixel 7 pro from the s21 ultra is a downgrade their is a reason why u paid the $300 when the s21 ultra first came put vs pixel 7 pro and it's still getting that extra $300 worth it. Pixel 7 pro is kinda like one plus pretending to be a flagship competitor with more than half the features missing.

    • @marcochavane3124
      @marcochavane3124 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Shan_Shah The Samsung gets updates faster than Pixels. Pixels get Android features sooner than Samsung. Pixels camera software is superior. Samsungs camera hardware is superior, especially the selfie camera. The S21 Ultra will get Android 15 and software updates until 2025. The Pixel 7 Pro will get Android 15 security updates until 2027.

    • @Shan_Shah
      @Shan_Shah ปีที่แล้ว

      @Marco Chavane pixel 7 pro will get android 16 it's 2 android updates ahead of the s21 ultra came out with Android 11 and 7 pro with android 13 and since Samsung offers 1 more android update over pixel the s22 ultra with android 12 will be equivalent to 7 pro. Samsung has been getting monthly security updates faster, but Pixel still gets the android updates faster still since they make android, Samsung can't beat pixel in the android category, and security updates don't count, pixel 7 will be on android 14 by the time Samsung releases their zfold and zflip 5, I which Samsung could release the z series 2-3 months later around October or November near the holidays sales with fresh new android version meaning it will get 1 more android update if Samsung release it 2-3 months later than they do. About camera pixel because they have always been popular about cameras people think they are superior but that isn't the case anymore, quality wise they are both neck and neck that's pretty much any flagships side by side in certain pics certain shots turn out better, not only the s22 ultra and s23 ultra have better camera setup than the pixel 7 but it has more superior software features, like directors view which allows you to use your selfie camera and your rear camera at the sametime and u can switch between the 4 cameras at the back, you have expert raw, astrophotography, pro photo, pro video like more than half the camera features aren't available on Google. In terms of camera the Samsung wins in both the software and the hardware in terms of camera setup and not necessarily the 200MP because alot I can easily say won't be able to tell between 12MP and 200MP I can notice it but only side by side and it's not a day and night difference I'd say it's 20-30% better than the already very pleasant 12MP. I feel like companies are bad at advertising, instead if advertising the gimmick of 8k video recording and the megapixels with should market productivity features like the spen and Samsung dex they already abandoned Linux to dex instead of releasing a stable version and they soon might abandon dex, like it has so much potential but they don't market they cool innovation like what's the point of innovating if your not gonna market, usually more than half the people don't care because they don't know it exist or they don't see much out of it but if it was marketed instead of the megapixel I can make the same argument that no one really cares about the 200MP camera or 50MP

    So listen I was forced into getting a new s23 ultra coming from my s21 ultra due to some issues I was having. So I got it and wow didn't expect it to actually seem better since the s20 ultra to the s21 ultra actually didn't feel like an upgrade and in some ways felt worse and idk why but yeah. So I am pleasantly surprised by how snappy this thing is. No lag, no glitches, no hiccups and no catches or snags. It's hands down the best samsung experience with processor and just usability. I have been with samsung since the start. We are talking anout the first ever galaxy. So yeah that's saying alot tbh. I do wish I could have waited out for the s24 ultra but hey if I really really like it, I'll probably have half paid by that time and just upgrade anyway lol
    Also never test battery with just benchmarks. That's not normal use, samsung has optimixed the s23ultra for real use with things like lowering the hz when not touching the screen etc. Which help it get much better battery life compared to past samsungs even. This is where as a reviewer you need to learn what the makers did and then test it as a real user like you did after that but even pointing out the benchmark battery or heat is just not realistic.

    My Exynos S21 Ultra was an excellent phone in nearly every way I must say. Only it's soft noisy video quality let it down. My new S23 Ultra is improvement in many ways over my S21 Ultra. It's battery life is noticeably better and the phone runs noticeably cooler when pushed. The display is slightly better with noticeably better contrast. The video quality is magnificent and sharp and detailed with very low noise levels and superb stabilization and it DESTROYS the video quality on the 21U. Photowise, they are both truly excellent and score points off each other in different areas. An honourable draw here. The 21U wins design wise by a whisker. The S pen gives the 23U a whole dimension of usage that the 21U simply does not have. The 21U is S pen compatible though despite not having one built in. The 21U is still a great phone in 2023, especially if you buy the Snapdragon version. Video quality aside, the Exynos version is not to be sniffed at either.

      i want to share this to all you guys , that the screen display of S23U Is less saturated and contrast compared to S21U , i just purchased now the S23U and compared the screen to my 2 yr old S21U just to found out that S21U has a better screen display!! ridiculous unbelievable, maybe im not the only one who notice this , even the dual speakers , damn S21U is much better , i almost sold my S21U before i purchase S23U
