I still have no idea how people think ubisoft focuses on pro league when things like the Rook self-revive buff exists.
Do normal ranked players on reddit really think pro league is gonna play rook ever? Soo many changes are aimed at ranked but no one seems to know… because you’d actually have to watch Pro League to know what is affected.

I joined this ride when the original how to play Ela aired, and have quit siege a few times since. It doesn’t have the same grit that I loved with No Remorse and the original novel, but the game benefited from the change. We are in a new era of games, siege is bout 10 years old and has changed a lot. G, I’m trying to say that over the years my self and many others have stayed for you. I know the almighty algorithm says otherwise but the yap sessions are always enjoyable. Thx for making 1000s of hours of videos to eat my dinner to.❤

I got into Siege because I liked the vast assortment of characters. I had fun until I played ranked. For years I was trying to get up to the high ranks and stop being laughed at. I have never hit anything above Silver on my own (I’ve hit gold but that was by being carried). I eventually stopped caring and proceeded to play casual and standard. I realized that I fundamentally could not get any better, maybe it’s because of my autism, maybe I’m just not good enough to play this game, maybe it’s because of my anxiety or depression. I’ve realized that if I just play without caring, I enjoy myself better. There are always going to be cheaters, people who slam you into the ground, people who yell at you for being bad, and I just don’t care. I play games to have fun, not to be good. Do I wish I could be a platinum player and be having more Wins than Losses? Absolutely, doesn’t everybody? But it’s not something I can attain, so I’ve reserved myself into the casual community where it’s about enjoying the video game.

i feel you man had to realize the same thing. I am simply unable to compete with most higher skilled players because of my shitty eyesight, but once i realized that was the reason why i lost and not because of some inherent skill issue teh game honestly got a lot more fun and relaxing. Even if it took me 7 years and a cracked teammate to carry me to plat 5 lol

  • @L0wSkiller

I managed to touch diamond the season before Champ became a thing, I had started the game at silver, grinded 5k+ hours, hell, I even lost the ability to walk for over a year and I used siege to mask the 24/7/365 chronic pain I was in. I was so close to "An Hero"-ing, but siege managed to distract me just enough to not want to pull the trigger.
It gave me something to improve at, I beat JollyFPS / Godly on one of my last few games so I was seeing myself improve to the point where I could hold my own vs content creators I had watched videos of on my journey for improvement.
1 day before the act ends, I lose 80 ELO, cementing myself as a peak plat1 player on the tracker, not a diamond player. Then they added champ, and I'm not gonna say it was easy before, but man, it felt like my grind to diamond was 20->35% cheaters. Once champ was added, and I got close to diamond.... DUDE...
I would que for 15 minutes, to get into a lobby with a cheater on my team, so I'd pick amaru, add one of the enemies on Uplay, try to throw the game so the cheater loses... Surely that can't be the only people on. Switch servers, que for 12 minutes, maybe 25 minutes before forgetting I'm in que and I'm already cooled down from my games so I'm not warmed up, I'd say 4/5 games have cheaters, if not 9/10 when you get up higher in ranks.
It's crazy. They shoot through reinforcements, speed hack, teleport, kill you in prep phase, and anti cheat has NO clue 🤣
I just couldn't spend 5.5 out of 6 hours playing vs cheaters anymore, so I had to quit for valorant.
I feel robbed, this game saved my life, and I can't even turn around and dedicate my life to it because it's a steaming pile of 💩 that should've been scrapped for Siege 2 a few patches after Maverick came out. They knew it was a piece of 💩 🍝-code mess. Kinda like Tarkov.
Any game companies, you see your game going down the shitter, try to make the infrastructure to save it on another iteration of the game. Siege2 would be AWESOME if it worked. No more 1-way rotates opening on some people's screens, no more opening the wall with 15 seconds left only to find out the breach just won't let you through, no more speed hacking and teleporting......

My take on the fact that a lot of us don't play Siege anymore but still watch content of it is really down to the simple fact there's nothing like it and having invested a lot of time into it creates this connection to it that just doesn't really get away?
I've stopped playing the game since last year but I still watch Siege content damn near every day because, it's Siege, I love this game and what it tried/tries to do, and while my reasons for stopping are personal, I know I'm not the only one to hold dear memories of it and simply can't let go of this gem.

AI assisted anti-cheat will be the future. Kernel anti-cheat goes as far as the PC it’s installed on. A simple Raspberry PI or Arduino can bypass that by making a connection to another computer. Hell, even cheaters will use AI to help them make hacks. Why shouldn’t we also use AI to assist anti-cheat?
But right now, it only seems like cheating will get worse. Now would be the time for PvE shooters to be released. I just finished Rainbow Six 3, and it has a great single player campaign. I’m also surprised by how much Siege took inspiration from the first few Rainbow games. If only Ubi would make a proper PvE Siege standalone game.

The only effective anticheat would imply cloud gaming, our pc being merely display & inputs, everything being treated on dev servers.

No, they have decided, they've found the identity they identify with, and thats good for them, not everyone has that. I get that this is your usual spiel, non binary isn't a thing, can't use they/them pronouns for a single person (which you absolutely can and do, even excluding non binary people). But do you really have to comment. You don't know G, their life, and especially their father. Just because you don't understand their identity, doesnt mean you have to hate. And it's especially rude to bring their father into the equation, as if he's some sort of talking point. They're both human beings, maybe remember that every once in a while, and treat them with the basic decency that humans deserve.

I know this sounds a little crazy, but I would be fine if cheating in an online video game was semi illegal. Like getting a speeding ticket, you should be fined for it. Why? I think because it’s in the public’s best interest. Let me explain.
The Supreme Court has ruled in that, in the jurisprudence of United States law, two things are absolute: the 5th amendment and the triumph of equity.something that falls under the triumph of equity is public interest, and in regards to the 5th amendment it means what’s fair can always supersede the letter of the law. Famous example of this is an 1800s case where a dude killed his uncle because he wanted hi inheritance sooner. Supreme Court ruled that it would not be in the public’s interest to allow him to receive the inheritance, even though it was illegal for the government to not let him based on the precise letter of the law.
Where am I going with this? Well, i think that it could get tricky if you start telling consumers what they legally can and cannot do with something they purchased. However in the case of online video game cheating, I would think that it should be illegal to make and distribute cheat software. As far as I’m aware, it wouldn’t be illegal for em to tell you how to take that there Coca Cola and turn it into meth, but it would be illegal for me to give you a machine that could turn it into meth if there only thing you had to do was pour the Coca Cola in it; and if the only purpose of the machine was to make meth. I believe it’s in the public’s best interest because as much as we all kinda hate triple a video game producers, the bottom line is that if all game devs are losing money to cheaters, ie losing players and therefore money, then all games are going to be worse. I’m all for letting the market regulate itself, but I’m also for regulation when it comes to fair and unfair business practices as well as fair and unfair consumer practices. Like it should be illegal to try to get a free dinner by pretending there’s a cockroach in your soup, that’s essentially slandering that business because other people will think the restaurant is gross. If you’re cheating, you’re also ruining other people’s enjoyment of something they have the equal right to enjoy and should seriously feel pathetic for how little self respect you have

I don't particularly agree with you on the "you need to provide a solution, or you're full of BS", like, I don't need to have a PhD in philosophy and human nature to see that capitalism is not great, there a people doing transactions of 6 billions dollars meanwhile others are dying of hunger, you can see a problem and see that it's bad without needing to provide a solution, and not everything is going to be perfect so we just need to see the pros and cons.
Honestly I love Rainbow and play a lot, but if it had a Kernel Level Anti-Cheat like Vanguard, turn on all the time, I would not play it. It would be like having a guy, a random stranger, coming in to my house and watching me using my computer all the time to see if I'm not downloading anything cheaty, and he would say "Oh, if it's not related to the game I'll close my eyes" but how could I trust it? In the end for me Video-Games are just a good fun, and I am competitive, but I can live without them and I can't live with someone watching me do my private stuff.
My solution? Use a Kernel Level only when the game is running and use AI to catch the cheaters based on common cases and ban them. If not, just let it die, having fun is not big enough of a reason for you to let go of your privacy. Most people now-days are so like "oh, but you are being spied all the time, get used to it" and still they put a password on their phone and don't let other people on the train see the messages that they are sending, listening to it, or the pictures there.

I do agree with having to give up some of your privacy for improved anticheat but something insane with siege is how cheaters are able to play hundreds of matches blatantly cheating, probably getting reported constantly, yet still remain unbanned. Like surely at that point the report system is completely pointless and nobody is actually manually banning them. And that's before we even get into seemingly nobody getting banned for absurd stats. Are the stat bans even real? This entire season I haven't received a single rank point rebalance.
Also I don't think they need to improve the anticheat on a technical level at all to get rid of like 50% of the cheaters, they are constantly executing actions that are impossible to do legit. Surely they can detect that with how much information they have server side.

I honestly like the angle of regulations countering cheaters, the restaurant analogy works pretty well. However I just don't think there is anyone in a position of power who both knows enough about the problem and cares enough to draft legislation. If gamers don't want to recognize that they are able to exercise political power bacause "the man" sucks or whatever, I'm not sure how they expect anything to be fixed. That's all just stating the issue. As a solution, I think lobbyists could come in handy. As someone who breifly worked for a DC firm, I think there is definitely a path forward for either developers or even gamers via crowdsourciing to hire a lobbying firm to work with legislators to create some sort of cheating regulation. But like I said earlier, gamers seem to be allergic to exercising any sort of political power outside of the culture war. Not to mention that explaining the inner-workings of how bills get made in Congress is already a huge task for people who actively want to learn about it. For gamers who want quick fixes and easy solutions, it might not be a very sellable idea. That's just my two cents though

Time to get piratesoftware on the channel for a talk about the state of anti cheat.
I'm a console player, so cheating has always been a bit of a non issue. Mostly. Consoles are as restrictive as it gets and that usually shows. But we still end up having cheaters. Usually at the end of a consoles lifecycle when updates die down and vulnerabilities stay around. Anyone who played GTA V or COD on PS3 will have seen the mod menus and money rain.
No matter what path we'd go, the fundamental need is for devs to always keep the anti cheat as up-to-date as possible. And i don't trust that this'd happen from big studios in which tie wearers have the final say. Which means i see little reason to go for a kernel level approach, since even that very likely wouldn't see the work required to actually keep cheaters out.
Sure, in the end data collection and all of that is already a huge discussion that predominantly seems like a lost battle. But i don't think that should mean we just bend over and let them go ham because it's "in our best interest". That'd be like saying that police violence is already rampant, so we might as well hand them some tanks. Sure, that would probably reduce the crime rate, or at least increase incarceration rate. But at that point what price are we paying? Especially if we have no reason to assume that us exposing ourselves even gives us the benefit we do so for. But hey, maybe ubi somehow pulls out their magic wand, fixes cheating in the future and proves me wrong. I'm not a damn fortune teller. But it's not hard to blame people for looking at hyper aggressive anti cheats and question how viable and necessary it truly is.
Like, obviously if i could snap my finger and all types of cheaters in pvp games disappear i would. Maybe then we'd still have old mute protocol.

I believe copying what valorant does is a good starting point. Yeah having a rootkit installed in your computer makes you and everyone very uncomfortable, but what the hell else can we do at this point? Besides, if your personal issue is spying, lets face it, the moment you connect to the internet you send information to eveeyone and their grandmother. Might as well get something in return. Its either that or stop playing comp games all together. China potentially being the recipient of that info is no different to the US government having said info (which they already have access to) in the end they all do the same thing with it: sell it. You just falling for your regular Red scare tactics.
I believe there are other ways to curb stop cbeating without the need of kernel level anti-cheat, howevwr those method require a considerate amount of resources from the devs and since this games company only think in short term profit, they will never do that shit.
Now, i dunno if i would go as far as criminalizing cheaters. Criminalizing cheat distributers, fuck yeah. Actuall6i dont know how games companies havent sue those fuckers to the ground but whatever. Criminalizing cheat users thats a whole other thing that i would be staunchly against for a variety of reasons.

2:15 I've said it before, fun is my only goal when playing any game.
So when I used to play Siege (stopped cause my friend's account was stolen and ubi did nothing) I don't care what was going on, I'm getting my fun. Usually it's from purposely messing with and getting sweats angry. One even accurately doxxed and threatened to come by my apartment once which was hilarious cause I was just playing the game and he sucked and started shit talking me for being at the top of the scoreboard. That aside though, I would happily throw games if a guy on my team was taking it too seriously just to piss him off. I'd play just good enough to live to the end and then "choke" and continue messing with the sweat on my team who started being toxic to the rest of us. This is also why I don't play competitive, I can't stand it, it's extremely boring to play and watch. However I fully understand that's not true for everyone so I stay away and let them have their fun. The only game I ever did competitive placement matches for and a few matches was for Overwatch when they released competitive for the first time. Overwatch a game I thought was mediocre at best but bought about a month before comp, only cause my friends begged me to, only to abandon it a month after comp launched. But during that short time I played comp I have never had so little fun playing a game I already didn't enjoy. Since then I play games to enjoy myself and everyone else be damned, if friends want to join me they're welcome but I'm playing by my rules which means I will throw matches and completely mess with any sweats until they apparently threaten to harm me. If they don't like that they're welcome to play the game as their own party and just screen share so I can watch while I play on my own.

I've also been telling people that cheats that are for pvp games should be criminalized. Specifically going after the creators of these cheats and locking them away for at least 3 years. It's exactly as you said, they're disrupting services we pay for, they should be locked up.

With AI cheats coming you won't even need the cheat on the same computer, and consoles aren't safe either. As for what's the solution, I don't know. You’re right. People do, and I also can’t say I understand it. Maybe it’s just humans looking for agreement by creating a common narrative.
I personally enjoy being the devil’s advocate and having deep conversations around people’s beliefs. Although, I feel awkward (slightly at risk of being outcasted at times perhaps) by reasoning for the other side of an argument. If only for interest sake.
Last night I met strangers my age for a casual meetup. Politics were briefly brought up, and it’s comments of “I can’t believe how wrong conservatives are!” and, “they are all so dumb it makes me mad”. I guess all I’m saying is that I refuse to believe roughly 50% of the population are either “dumb libtards” or “crazy right wingers”. I won’t villainize people off the common talking points we are routinely exposed to. We are all human and therefore quite similar to one another if we take the time to look.

When you're constantly second-guessing if someone is cheating (or even just exploit-abusing) or if they're actually good, it starts to just be a drain on your mental energy. And unfortunately, I don't think the issue is going to be solved. It is a bit brutally honest, but people do need to hear it. PvP shooters are just going to become more cheater-infested (even more so, with the advent of shit like AI aimbots that don't even have to interact with the game), and I don't think there is a drastic step that CAN be taken to do enough about it.

I’ve been playing a lot of siege after my horrendous experience with Deep Freeze (Defense felt so much more unbalanced then it does now). I hit platinum for the first time recently, but then afterwards I got hit with 3 1-4 losses in a row with my stack. They all didn’t play the game for a week, and it sucked. I recently started playing back the game in standard, and i forgot how fun it feels to play without a care in the world, even if I don’t really care all that much about my rank (Ranked 2.0, blegh).
I think right now Siege needs a giant technical overhaul. The game’s net code is horrible (peelers advantage is much more noticeable in Siege then other games), and the security clearly isn’t lasting. But, I think we all know that Siege isn’t going to make a Siege 2. There’s just no point, especially when people like Jynxzi can still bring so much content out of this game (no hate to him btw). It’s why I understand why talking to so many people about siege can feel miserable, it feels like a slew of lose-lose situations because Ubi simply can’t be bothered to care ENOUGH.

You pretty much nailed it on the head here and really expressed a lot of the issues I feel plague the industry.
I'm very much at the point where I rarely play any of my competitive games seriously because of the lack of intregity in my matches, and even with something as invasive as the valorant anti-cheat it doesn't prevent people from purchasing rasberry pi's or using trigger bots with auto hotkey so to me its like whats the point.
I think its come to a head where many players are just going to/already have exit the respective scenes without a major breakthrough of maybe using AI? (However, AI is also been a constentous issue and people can also argue on that case) or simply people having to pick how invasive they are willing to have their anti-cheat practices and the like.
Unfortunately, the most probable outcome of everyone exiting the tact shooter genre would simply mean execs decide to cut the plug instead of addressing the issues and its debatable if the issues can even truly be resolved.
In the interim, I've found myself returning to cooperative, PvE experiences, indie, or hosting private lobbies like you've mentioned above, even at the cost of some private lobbies causing a drama headache, or being masisvely imbalanced.
I do hope to see the tact shooter make a return, though the options are getting exhaustive and at this point, maybe they can't. At least in that case you could see a flood of players revitalizing other genres they have missed out on for their "one-stop shop" game.

I love the siege videos, but I wish you could just be freed from it being seen as your "core brand identity" or whatever at this point. I really enjoy you and what you bring to your videos rather than just enjoying them for the game you talk about. I'm glad to see you starting to get that opportunity with Couch Co-Op.

13:47 For me personally, the reason I always watch these "yappity-yap" videos is because you're always pretty witty with your commentary. Pretty much all of these videos are interesting, educating, or funny, and most of the time all three. I'm sorry about the algorithm sandwiching you, as per your words for it. I haven't played Siege in a couple years, but I still watch your stuff pretty regularly. You make good content G!
