      @RiquitasReality do you understand she's promoting for women to marry when they're older ?? Has it worked for her ?? She's saying she wants marriage and kids but she's already in her 40s and single so how much more time does she have to have kids ?? She needs to start having a child now if she really wants to have children because father time waits for no woman. A woman is not a man that can have kids at any stage of life

    I'm glad that Nick said the #1 thing that black men desire..even over love is respect. The problem with this is (some, not all) their definition of respect. I know several men that feel this way, but their DEFINITION or VERSION of respect was/is distorted & is rooted in toxic masculinity. They believe women speaking up for themselves while respectfully disagreeing with them or doing anything seemingly "offensive" or challenging is disrespectful. In their minds, if they can't control her, it's a form of disrespect...when in essence, their insecurities are being confronted, therefore they feel emasculated & the only way to avoid facing their feelings of inadequacy is to deflect or shut the woman down by any means necessary...from fleeing to verbal or even physical abuse.

BLK ppl are raised with respecting others due to it being force among us by the master . So don’t believe the hype that the black man gives you. I think it’s actually a great message for black woman to embrace - that we are actually highly respected as a “collective” globally, amongst other groups. That doesn’t always translate to fair treatment - but, what it means is that we command respect, admiration and a favorable opinions globally - in sought of our plight. BM would like us to believe that we are not desired or respected to keep us bound to them with resources and access.

    • @Kingme3144
      @Kingme3144 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a great message but it's not the truth. I've worked in corporate internationally for the last 2 decades. You're not desired and it reflects in the marriage rates. Her excuse was they are just trying to stick to black men. Other races marry their own and it's a cultural L for them not to do so ie they aren't seeking black women and they never have been. The consensus is they think black women are too masculine, too loud and too ego driven. If they like you it's because you are one of the "good ones" not because they respect black women as a whole. Globally women are borderline 2nd class citizens in their own country so how do you think they feel about foreign black women? She's being disingenuous for the sake of her ego. People doing their job ≠ global respect. I'm a black man for the record and if I lived 100 lives every one would be with a black woman but she started pulling made up stats out of the air for the sake of her argument.

    I honestly have more respect for Nick after finishing this interview , mainly for being open to have the conversation. Whether he receives it or not, I feel so many of us have. So many of us needed this conversation, myself included. Dr. Bryant, has a new supporter in me! I feel she is creating a nu conversation in a major way in therapy! I heard a lot of things I needed to work on as well and change my perspective on self control.

      "More respect" for a man that proved himself close-minded and basically doubled down on his own misogyny? His disrespected the guest on his show and tried to minimize her expertise as an educated therapist and her expereince as a woman. I guess he gets props for having a professional of her caliber on but he basically undermined even that by his behavior.

Dr. Bryant made some good points about having control within yourself therefore reducing that need to control others. I like the fact that she said "I love you" at the end to Nick. So sincere and respectful.

    I love that! It really puts the responsibility and accountability on no one but ourselves. This interview was refreshing to watch for many reasons but for me it was the simple fact that they admitted they are toxic/ have toxic ways. That was something I struggled with coming to terms with. Even admitting to have control issues.

    I resonate with her position on black women being the most disrespected. We have to stop bottling up all of these isms and feelings and attaching them to our life experiences. We all don't all have the same experiences or perceptions. What's insane is that we associate and label common life mishaps as racist or disrespectful. What really needs to be examined is why simple things such as being bumped or misunderstood trigger feelings of inferiority to feel disrespected. Know who you are, be in control of yourself and no one can ever own or define your life experience.

  • @wryanarielle3426

    Regarding the women being disrespected most within the black community. I have had 7 job positions in my life. Only 2/7 of those professions were all black companies/organization. I was the most disrespected in those 2 positions. I cried the most, was hurt the most and felt betrayed the most. The 5/7 positions being predominantly white, took great care of me, collaborated with me and promoted me. My current position blows my mind at how much support I receive. This has been a topic that always hurts me because the black community can be so detrimental to our own health. So I have to agree on her with that. This is just my experience. Based on her profession, she should be the quintessential black woman to be disrespected and disregarded. Yet,she wasn't. She is saying her character gained her favor amongst her peers, and they respected her. How long are black men and women of America going to be always on this victim culture. Other races are not going to fix it for you, nor do they care to. It's time to hold yourself high, command the room and spaces you are in, and live with purpose. This victim mentality is embarrassing and telling of how they actually feel about themselves.

    The way she broke it down 29:36 had me at hello, u better preach. The things that men specifically black men put on women especially the black women who is most loyal they beat up with their toxic masculinity aka ego because of the trauma they have seen other black men go through. Most black women will reveal the toxicity and once that happens the black man feels disrespected and attacked when all she is trying to do is elevate the mindset and move as a unit. But instead the mans ego is ruined and he flees because he does not want to deal with self. Most of them flee to white women or women out their race because there is no challenge. When I say challenge I mean she will not challenge him to come at his best self. The perfect example of how a man thinks controls and demand respect is The Color Purple, What's love got to do with it.
