Great vlog! Just subbed! I just wanted to mention as an older PhD candidate (ABD), please take breaks. This is a marathon, not a sprint so breaks are absolutely necessary. I schedule in breaks and i take those very seriously. I also schedule in lunchtime and those times are sacred. I also take one day off a week to do nothing (usually Sunday). That’s been really helpful. Just try to create a routine that is sustainable because as an academic, your schedule right now is the schedule you’ll have throughout your program and even when you’re done. We are ALWAYS reading, writing and thinking so that will not change (and that’s not including teaching). All that to say don’t feel bad/guilty about taking those breaks but just schedule them so that you don’t feel like you’re behind. You’re doing great!
I'm only in my first semester and I feel the same way! If I take even a small break I get behind and feel awful but I also have a family so I have to be very careful about my time. I'm having fun learning all the new things but it can be exhausting! Also congratulations on your publication!
Great tips! I have just started my PhD Journey as a mature student! So realise that the way I use to study years ago is now very different! Due to technology upgrade and also my brain and body is older!! So pacing myself!! ❤
