Shouldn't your description be something like "a 40 year old Nigerian born in America"? I believe Americans born in Nigeria or any other part of the world would still call themselves Americans. Why are we quick/eager to take on the nationalities of Western countries if we are born or grew up there while they are not quick/eager/ready to take ours when they are born in our country or grew up in it?
Watch Mark Angel Comedy. It’s funny and uses the Nigerian dialect known as Pidgin. Some of their videos have English subtitles so I can read them if u don’t understand. Their older videos are much funnier tho. I recommend ‘Bike Man’

Don't be. It's beautiful. If you can, learn some of the lingo before you go and/or take someone with you that understands the culture. My husband got a kick out of the reactions everytime I habitually asked where a restroom/bathroom was. 😂 Just ask for the toilet.
I just came back home from Nigeria to America, I will say this, it’s not as scary as you may think. I will say if you go to Lagos, if you aren’t used to a city with high population like NY it might be a culture shock but you aren’t in danger tho. You could stay on Lagos Island, you will be very safe there, that’s where a lot of tourists go to in Lagos otherwise Abuja is the capital and is beautiful too, it’s not as fast paced as Lagos if you want a more calm vacation.
