As a nearly 70 year old man (69) who used to ride a stupidly geared dirtbike without a steering damper, this warms my diapers replaced by my caretakers every 4-6 hours; I shit blood.
Usually they are good for about 42hp on a properly adjusted dyno which explains a > 5sec time. Stick some YZ cams in it and you can get 48hp with a 4.5sec 0.60. You can hear the cam running out of breath in the vid.
Thanks for the tip! The previous owner installed the YZF cams, exhaust and some aftermarket intake bits to get it done. This was actually the first and only time i ever triend to run a 0-100. So i guess it will be in the 5 second mark in a few tries
As long as it is tuned right and there is oil in it the yamaha will run 80 miles with ease. I used the gear ratio as seen in the video description for commuting! Keep an eye on the coolant temperature tho. They tend to over-cool (like going below 60 °C coolant temp) even when its 25 °C outside. I used a trail-tech coolant temp meter and always run some ductape on the radiator when doing long commuting trips.
It depends on what you are doing with the bike: - If you're drag racing it and it runs for a few seconds in a clean area its no problemo. - if you are riding it in the dirt or on the street just use a filter, you will harm your engine with all the smal particles like sand and dirt. These dirtbike filters are designed to flow very well and the engine has no problems to breath (even if they are oil'ed). You can get a larger diameter or 'sports' airfilter if you think your bike gets to little
I do an Oil change, Oil Filter, Air filter, Chain cleaning/greasing and a fast visual check (brake pads, loose bolts, wear and play on joints) every 1000 kilometers. When i ride offroad the airfilter gets replaced sooner/when its dirty. I inspect the valve clearance and change the sparkplug every 5000km Always used quality filters and kroon oil semi-synthetic 10w40. 10500kms on the engine and running like a charm
Question , so I got a wr450 supermoto recently like days ago, (2009) and noticed the rear fender where the CDI goes was cut off ,and the CDI/ecu was just ziptied to the frame was going to get a new fender to replace to put the ecu then thought maybe it was cut due to the size of the rear wheel/tire do you mod this or does the rear sumo wheel not effect the fender in the area?
The supermoto tire isn't a problem for the rear fender. The only part where it could make contact is with the chain. Be sure to get a WR fender and not a YZF one, there are minor differences
I have a wr450f 2020 and I want to convert it to supermoto, does anyone know if it is possible to calibrate the speedometer to work with sm wheels on the 2020 model. I would really appreciate any information on this. Thanks
It is possible for sure, the oil intervals are every 1000km's so you can make it. The only downside is that the bike has a lot vibrations at highway rpm's. Personally it gets annoying after 100km on trips. The engine itself has has absolutly no problem with the distance. You can use handlebar rubbers and a cush drive for the rear wheel to make it decent but it still is a 'competition' bike. If you plan to make long trips on a 'real' supermoto the ktm 690, husky 701 and 601 make it a lot better.
@@markaurelius3119 there is no damage just by riding long trips. The engine itself only over-cools on the highway. The only thing is that the engine/gearbox dogs wear out faster then a normal road bike so with lots of highway driving its just a waste of money. My experience is that they have no gearbox wear problems untill 20k as a supermoto. Oh and it does vibrate to much to be comfy.
They flat now.
Badazz wheelie too.

Volsyntetische 10W40.
