- Jamul is a census-designated place in San Diego County, California with a population of 5,776 residents. It is located 10 miles (16 km) southeast of El Cajon, in San Diego County, California. Jamul has a total area of 16.8 square miles (44 km2). Jamul Indian Village is a federally recognized tribe of Kumeyaay Indians that was established in 1912 on six acres (24,000 m2) of land. The current government for the Jamul Indian Village is a democratically elected tribal council.
Jamul Casino opened on October 10, 2016. The San Diego's newest and genuinely entertaining casino includes a three-story gaming and entertainment facility of approximately 200,000 square feet. The casino features over 1,700 slot machines, 40 live table games, multiple restaurants, bars and lounges and a parking garage with 1,800 spaces. Jamul Casino provides more than 1,000 jobs and is an economic engine for San Diego, investing millions of dollars in road safety improvements, emergency services and philanthropic projects.
