Very nice video showing the beauty of this Valley. We look forward to returning during the summer. A couple of things I would like to talk about. 1) Americans actually lost at Battle of San Pasqual. The Mexican were better prepared. There are several accounts including the well known story of Felicita Pageant that say it was likely Pontho himself that called the Mexicans off the soldiers and lead an American party to San Diego for backup. Regarding Maxcy Ranch it was in 1850 he was given the grant. He married an indigenous woman and had good relationships for the most part with those who worked for him.

We very much appreciate the feedback and date correction. You are absolutely correct, the Californio's won the battle at San Pasqual, but ultimately lost the war. Kearny's troops retreated to San Diego once reinforcements from the Navy arrived and enable them to do so. The conflict was largely over, as you probably know, when Kearny's and Stockton's forces marched on and occupied the Los Angeles territory that January.
