So nice when the maker’s team leaves a comment. I don’t know this TH-camr. I’m here for the watch. I held one (Astro) in GC they are special in person. 😊He just.. handed me a pair of gloves, he put on gloves, unlocked it, and handed it to me! I still don’t know why he chose me to go through all that.
Jacob is one of my favorite modern day watchmakers and the Astronomia range is one of the most beautiful watches ever designed.

LOL im actually surprised that Jacob made this watch, no real watch collector can take his brand seriously if he's making a piece unique and putting a NFT and a green logo like that. You look at Patek, AP, Vacheron Constantin, Rolex, its just a different class.

I respect the engineering and design work that goes into them and I have nothing but respect for the people behind the project, but the business side of things is a genuine disgrace to the very concept of elegance in haute horologie. This commission has to be the most expensive joke ever known to mankind. The logo of his company, I get, although it could have been done in polished metal or cut out of emerald as not to look like that, but the fucking Cryptopunk and the Bitcoin logo are just painful to look at in such an intricate piece.

To each their own, but there is no way I would call it an upgrade. Patek is absolutely legendary and will never be bested, and Jacob is nothing more than an over priced flashy hood ornament. Glad you're happy with it M8, and congrats on your "upgrade..."

I've been following Jacob&Co for a while now and everytime I see someone new get one of their time pieces makes me realize how special these pieces are. Congrats to you sir.
The watches are probably made by a discreet supplier for Jacob. Jacob is just a flashy marketing man, probably with very little inhouse expertise.
Hence, Jacob is very different from traditional, true watch brands, like Patek, Rolex, AP etc. etc.

Looks wonderful. I bought my watch (Rotary) from a Pawn Shop in Grimsby, England for £40 several years ago. Never had any problems with it.

I think the Patek is more of a daily/fashion watch. Can be worn with a large array of outfits and situations. The Jacob is for special occasions and events. Probably not everyday but if it were me, I would wear it as such. Partly because, I enjoy highly complicated watches and devices.
Apart from the finer manufacturing tolerances you get with a haute horology movement there is little to no benefit in accuracy having a tourbillon on a wrist watch, certainly not while it is being worn as the movement of your arm changes the plane of the escapement continuously compensating for the effect of gravity. And doubly so on a piece that is not designed to read the time accurately - there are not even minute graduation markers on this watch.
Tourbillons were invented for pocket watches that hang from your waistcoat (or in a pocket) and spend most of their time in a single vertical plane. The tourbillon rotates the escapement thus compensating the effect of gravity.
The main purpose of a tourbillon nowadays is to demonstrate the watchmakers art and let other people know you can afford an expensive timepiece…..something there seems little doubt of with this strapped to your wrist.
That is really awesome, mind-blowing, Jacob's and Co. is always on the top, I'm pretty sure that at least 100 years a second Jacob will not be born. You have great privilege to get the proposal to create this watch from Jacob himself I think he respects you. Congrats man!
I just placed an order at AP for the 38mm royal oak chrono in rose gold, blue dial. You should check it out. I have smaller wrists like you and went in with the intention of getting a 41 mm royal oak and the watch is GIGANTIC on a skinny person. Good news is the 38mm is only about a 4 month wait from the boutique. I think a Patek aquanaut in white gold would be a great daily for you or a rolex daytona white gold oyster flex with silver dial or meteorite if you really want to flex but I prefer the look of the silver dial. It’s my daily wear watch, extremely comfortable compared to my other pieces with metal and precious metal bracelets and gets the most compliments from watch enthusiasts.

Basic math with the apparent secrecy of what he invested into. Also, he may have worked in grocery store, how does that negate that its mathematically impossible to be billionaire from grocery worker in 4 years? Also, literally few videos ago he said himself that he was attending yacht shows in Monaco with his father. What grocery store worker would spend 500€ on ticket to the show, not to mention how extremely expensive accomodations are during that show.
For him to have 1 billion in assets at the peak of bitcoin bull run he already had to own bitcoin worth 50 million dollars in 2019. Also if he invested in some miraculous company it only happens when there is big investor valuation on open market attached to the idea, which he doesnt have.

I only have a few watches and I make sure they are meaningful to me in that way.
I’ve never wanted a very expensive watch but I have this old Indian motorcycle watch.
It’s older than the First World War and is a pocket watch.
It reminds me to slow down, and my great great grandfather once owned an old Indian motorcycle.
It doesn’t keep excellent time but it also reminds me how different life was back then.
I set it every day. People used pocket watches in the trenches during WW1 and converted them into wrist watches to time attacks. If you didn’t get the timing right your own side would blow you up with bombs. It suddenly became manly to own a wrist watch. Wrist watches were for rich ladies before then. Indian motorcycle that devoted itself to the war effort also lost out on sales in the US to Harley Davidson. Harley took over the market and it was a massive part of why Indian motorcycles went out of business. They are back though and something to dream about.
Maybe I’ll see a watch to add to my….a watch to imagine already having.

A little more about the pocket watch. Its case is sterling silver. Native Americans prize silver over gold because they see silver as belonging to a higher dimensional reality and gold as of this world. Something the white man spent allot of time and energy chasing after. Around the time this watch was made we had these crazy indian head head half eagle gold coins in circulation but, everything changed quickly with the start of WW1 and the federal reserve. That was another thing that drew me to the watch being I live in the center of the US and worked in a few grocery stores on an Indian reservation. Too many coincidences.
I’m wondering where this crypto train is going to go next.

I doubted the customization, rose gold with blue strap but as the dial matches the strap and contrast with rose gold and glass is really good....
