It is insane. Amazing craftsmanship by the supplier, probably not the workshop by Jacob himself, but from other watch makers, probably Sercab. You will not find much about this discreet, hidden manufacturer. They probably supply to many other brands, hence discretion.

These are watches I could understand someone spending over $1 million on. The Richard Milles look like cheap toys that are only expensive because of hype and fake supply issues from the company. Jacob creates masterpieces. These watches are so beautiful you could just display them in your home as art.
You realize most real watch collectors do not buy Jacob & co to keep in a collection. I'm not a huge RM fan but the technology behind their movements and the materials they use nobody can beat. Also, it's the second hand market that makes them so expensive, not the retail price.

The company them selves are genius with great movements but the watches are undeniably hideous. I honestly don’t see how someone would chose one even over the numerous beautiful Rolex’s, APs, and Pateks you could get for a fraction of the price and have way more history behind them. I’m tired of every guy with new money being told to buy RM even though they don’t like it just because of the investment or status it gives you. That’s why collections todays are all about who has the rarest most expensive pieces rather than sentimental pieces or watches people love.
Tourbillon watches were made to counter act the effects of gravity, back when pocket watches were kept in your pocket, vertically, but now, wristwatches don't have that problem. The Tourbillon movement is still incredibly hard to produce, its a work of art for sure, but high beat watches such as Grand Seiko or quartz watches are more accurate. Modern mechanical non-tourbillon watches are very accurate.
The tourbillon was invented for stationary clocks to compensate for the effect of gravity on the balance wheel and escapement. For a wrist watch it is pointless and doesn’t make it more accurate at all. It is however a demonstration of the watchmakers art, nothing wrong with that of course!
In the same respect its pointless to use gold to make the case? Also, this us ur opinion. The watch on a wrist is rarely horizontal with the ground. So i would absolutely argue ur original point to be worthless.
