Lyrics:
WHEN WE WERE ALL TOO SHY
I LOOKED INSIDE THE PAPER NOTE IN MY POCKET
...A HANDMADE DESIGN
YOUR NOTE OF HOPE ASIDE
I WATCHED YOUR FACE
CRYSTALLIZE AS I DROPPED IT
YOU'D KNOW THAT I HAD READ EVERY WORD
YOU SAY YOU LOVE
OR YOU WANT TO SAY YOU NEED TO
TELL ME SOMETHING
YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT IF YOU
WANTED TO KNOW MY RESPONSE.
TWO MODERN MINDS WON’T SAY WHAT THEY WANT TO
TO PUSH A BUTTON IN REAL TIME…
WOULD YOU ANSWER A CALL
WHEN THE HOURS ARE DARK?
KNOWING IT WAS TIME TO DELIVER
A MESSAGE?
I CAN'T TELL FROM THE SIGNS
WE'RE GIVING IN OUR LINES
WHITTLING OUR TIME
A SYMPHONY OF VACANCY
THE WASTED DAY IS AGING ME…
WITH NOTHING REALLY TO SAY.
TWO MODERN MINDS WON'T SAY WHAT THEY WANT TO
TO PUSH A BUTTON IN REAL TIME WITH AN UNDO
TWO MODERN MINDS WON'T SAY WHAT THEY WANT TO
TO PUSH A BUTTON IN REAL TIME WITH AN UNDO
TO PUSH A BUTTON REWRITE LIES WITH AN UNDO
AND I WATCH YOU WRITE
YOU'RE STILL SAYING NOTHING
AND I WATCH YOU WRITE
YOU'RE STILL SAYING NOTHING
AND I WATCH YOU WRITE
YOU'RE STILL SAYING NOTHING
AND I WATCH YOU WRITE
YOU'RE STILL SAYING NOTHING
NOTHING AT ALL… - เพลง
My sister, may she rest in peace would have absolutely loved this song....thank you drab majesty for bringing back the music of my youth.....the 1980s were a very special time....
"Two modern minds won't say what they want to," is just such a good lyric
💯💯💯💯💯
My life's been slightly better since I discovered Drab Majesty
deceiver right? LOL
Yesss! It TRULY is
Indeed.
Definitely! They blew me away when I first heard them and still do.
same
Wow, it's more 80's than the 80's!
Absolute gem of a band.
we listen to 80's music everyday at work so i completely agree with this, this band rocks!
Even has that trademark "70s / 80s song fade-out" at the end that makes you long for the song as it slowly departs.
Drab Majesty nailed pretty much every detail so well, you could sneak it into an 80s & early 90s Indie Dream-Pop / Synthpop music set, and everyone would just assume it was an 80s Indie song they missed hearing back in the day.
How does this not have a million views already? This is one of the most perfect pieces of music to ever be created.
Thats what makes it a gem
I can't honestly think of a more perfect pop song. It's so good it even gets embarassing.
@@christianscazzieri There is what Pop is as defined by genre conventions, then there is pop as defined by reach. It is disappointing that the purest pop by genre convention doesn't attain the greatest reach. The funniest example in my mind is Poppy. Everyone I play her music around loves her, then realizes she's not big and that's that. I engage with the common culture as much as anyone, but let's not miss out on great content because it's not popular. It's like mom always said, "no one gives a damn son."
860k and rolling 💫🖤
Well said and then some
That guitar riff is an eargasm. Heaven.
Wonderful band. Songwriting 10/10. Visuals 10/10. Performance 10/10. And this one is important, Originality 10/10.
BEST song in their entire discography to date.
“Out of sequence “ is probably the second best too
This song is a masterpiece.
totally is ! every track i heard is too
You've got to check out double echo!!
@@Daphney0310 double echo is not that great.
@@michaelrytel2389 You're input is not that great. Have a drab day.
@@Daphney0310 Yeah he's got too, i second that! :)
R.I.P. Thomas McMahan - a true genius and master of visual artistry
That transition in 3:07 hits different when working out
I had watched them when Deb was solo, then with Mona for years. Bought them a beer in San Diego before a show that got delayed, talked for a bit, and could not have been nicer guys. Wish them nothing but continued success. Deb is a badass drummer for those that didn't know.
Not surprised Deb's a good drummer too, seems like a natural musician. I love the guitar style on songs like Out of Sequence.
He's a damned good guitarist as well...
Dude I watched Deb tell Mona "thank you for coming on this journey with me" and that for me was epic
@@marblesthecat3861 he sounds dead-on Alex Lifeson from the Presto era, even the lyrics are ambiguous like pearts
@@rickacton7540I thought of Alex lifeson also because of his guitar tone, though they have different styles of playing they both use a somewhat heavily effected guitar tone
The majesty of this track is beyond expectations. The whole album is legendary.
Sounds incredible like the 80s music
that keyboard part that plays over the outro is so DAMN GOOD UGH I LOVE THIS BAND
yeah I wish that was longer
exactly !
100%
right?!?!
nostalgic
As soon as the vocals came in I was hooked
I' m 54 and love this. Bravo DM!
I'm 52. I love it. Back to the 80s.
🤘😍👍
I am 58 and Drab blew me away minute I heard them. Have a listen to New Zealand band Tripzville "the Nikola Tesla song" th-cam.com/video/5aQBLMlATXo/w-d-xo.html
Happy birthday 🎉🎈 , I'm 2 .
No - too . 54 .
I'm an alien, technically over a million years old but I've been conscious for around 450 and I love this!
Cant get enough of his clean toned chorus effect and style on guitar
Should listen to my songs and ideas during the eighties/nineties 😉
a futuristic video from the past
This is pure ecstasy!! Can we just admire how beautifully filmed & directed this is?? Not to mention the bad ass composition, lyrics and the godly vocals...
Well... since the 80s are 4 decades ago, we have Drab Majesty to save us all.
One week with DM, 71 years behind, mystical magical sounds taking me back to time minus 40, yet ahead into infinity. The sounds of my heart and soul captured with eloquence, ethereal images painted in words and sound -- all an unexpected gift. Love this.
This is not a song this is a masterpiece!
I just discovered Drab Majesty and I absolutely LOVE them!!! They’re making incredibly awesome music!!!
I got lucky and found them a couple of years ago. I graduated in 88 and these guys are amazing!
The purest state of art!
80`s Post-Punk Revival! Returns! Intensive & Cool track!
Can't get enough of this artist. Hooks me within the first few seconds. Never disappoints.
same with me, every song
For some reason every time I listen to this song, it reminds me of being in high school a long time ago between 86 through 89 , it reminds me of walking the halls, listened to a lot of music back then that nobody listened to and if this incredible band was around then , I would have definitely been blaring it on my Walkman!
Similar, except I was in college then. Hearing this brings me that same thrill of finding something new and different - a feeling I do not get very often nowadays. So it's a refreshing change!
Yep, Drab Majesty has that magical retro feel to them like they could have been doing this in the year 1985. Can totally imagine Drab opening for Bauhaus... th-cam.com/video/8a2hGhamVwA/w-d-xo.html
Everything about this song delivers. The aesthetic is so on point with capturing the 80's vibe. These guys are uber talented! 👍
Pre-Drab Majesty I merely existed. Post-Drab Majesty I am alive. I don't know how I survived without them. Things are much better now.
Feel ya man! Same here! Can't believe they've been around for a good few years now!
I was alive thanks to Cocteau Twins... But Drab Majesty have brought freshness and enthusiasm again. Same sort of love.
It's going to be a Drab Summer. I love this track...thank you Deb! Currently, seven people don't know what musical genius looks like.
Actually, the thumbs-down total is now up to fifty-nine stark-raving fans of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift- just, wow. Really?
Thank goodness deb & Mona are back, having withdrawal symptoms
FINALLY!!!!!! Take me with you to the new gothic era please!!!!!! Love from Brazil
Their sound is very magnetic and take our soul very seriously 💙💜🎩🌹🕯️
They are going to have a very successful career, we will remember them. Best duo ever, each production is a masterpiece
What a wonderful surprise! Thank you Drab Majesty!
love these guys' sound. it brings back the positive energy and optimism of years past. since I discovered these dudes they've been a constant play for me. best album of 2019.
This is the most fire song of 2019
We still have great Goth music to this day! This is just great, we are back in the 80s! Thank you Drab! 🖤
Keeps me in mind of The Cars, Heartbreak City :)
well... in the widest sense, since this is more like 'postpunk/shoegaze', but the coolest thing here is that it very much transcends mere 'retro spirit'. it's simply awesome music. :-)
I wouldn't say this is goth, definitely influenced by goth bands though.
@@MasDouc It's very much in the "wave" style, Deb has referred to it as "Tragic Wave" but it's definitely Goth, just as his other project, "VR Sex" is...but Deathrock instead of something like Darkwave, etc...
@@MasDouc Theatrical goth is a thing, just look at Lacrimosa. I see some similarities in image, just Lacrimosa is more medieval, and Drab - more greek/antique. Lyrically and by sound it's true goth, anyway.
But I don't agree with Kevin.. deathrock is Alien Sex Fiend etc. and they don't sound similar to Drab at all. It's post-punk, with maybe some darkwave elements.
I can't stop playing this song.
I was young in the 80s and part of the Gothic scene until the 2000s.
This feels like a giant mother cat is grabbing me by the neck, carrying me through those decades.
The best part about Drab Majesty is that they don’t try to complicate their lyrics for that hidden meaning. It’s just enough where you know this is definitely about social media in an easy-to-analyze poetry piece. That’s what I’ve always worried about personally as a poet, so seeing an amazing band with wonderful sounds do something like that makes me so much more confident in my own creative endeavors.
Mona, Deb, you have done wonders for your audience, and I hope you know that! 🖤
Purrrfect 💓
What a great surprise! Finally! Love from Poland.
I'm so in love with them. They are extraordinary
I don’t get excited about a lot of new music, but Dais really brings some interesting and compelling acts to light. Keep it up Drab Majesty and Dais Records!
The best way to wake up today, new Drab. ❤ Going to be on repeat today.
This song sounds a lot like their first album careless, I love it so much already ❤
I am so obsessed with these two. Their music is everything✨
This band is able to capture the essence of the best 80's New Wave without sounding like they are trying to do so. A rare gem.
Sounds exactly like they're ripping of explicit known tracks from 80s goth / New Wave but ok.
Phenomenal! What else?
When you step through the gateway and think you ended up in 1986 at the mall food court but your actually in a John Hughes film

I literally have goosebumps when I read your comment. 80s and John Hughes movies compliment with each other.
how gorgeous is that !
This has made my day 1000× better.

@@lovelyduckie1777 I hit the 100th like on your comment 😉👍
@@GhostshadowShadowghost yay!! 😊
I just died. And living by your music.
Just realized that the name "Drab Majesty" contains the two masks of Greek theatre, the faces of comedy and tragedy -- the letters of "drab majesty" are an anagram of "drama by jest." Proof that the band doesn't take itself overly seriously, thereby free to explore the full range of the human experience.
Clever interpretation!
I thought it was a slight modification of the term "drag queen" with the g inverted that becomes a b and the queen that is a majesty
Holy shit.
but are you dancin though?......cause if you aint dancin...............
don't forget the anagrams: Samba Dry Jet, Bad Jams Tyre, Drabs Yam Jet, Jay Rams Debt... ;-)
"two modern minds wont say what they want to"
I've been singing 'Tomorrow's minds won't say what they want to' 🤣
"To push a button in real time"
how gorgeous is that !
Unbelievably excited for this. OMG
I've been waiting for this. And now... Instant crush! I love Drab Majesty 🖤
One of 2019’s best albums, and this visual is absolutely perfect for the track
" To rewrite lies with an undo " So true for our modern minds.
gorgeous
Can never get enough Drab Majesty, great as always.
Everything about Deb's aesthetic concept - like Grey Gardens by way of kabuki
Silence no more! Modern minds with a modern mirror🐍🌹🌹🐍
I'm so happy they're back!!!
This. Is. Amazing.
very nice
👍
New new new wave I can dig it cheers from an '80s-'90s casualty
Totally hooked by the end of the song, replay is the only button for DM. Outstanding.
totally !
Cool!!, continuing the path of the "Careless" era
Discovered this song yesterday and have already listened to it no less than 60 times 🙌🏼
Amazing
Это самый лучший альбом который я слушал за последние несколько лет. Ни одной проходной песни , каждая шедевр . Им не в коем случае нельзя менять направление и тем более останавливаться . Ждём новых шедевров.
Totally in love with Drab Majesty!!
Helena Rosa how good are these guys .... two modern minds don’t say what they want to 🎶🎶
Fico todo arrepiado com o som deles. ❤️
AHHHH OMG! THIS SONG IS SO GOOD, I NEED MORE!!!
Can't wait to buy DBM's new album! And Mona's so beautiful btw!!! 🖤🖤🖤
Drab Majesty deserves the universe
If I could put Drab Majesty higer than a 1 on my faves list, I would. This band never ceases to amaze me. They are such a gift. Greetings from Joliet, IL.
Oh sweet, what great timing to be awake.
me too !!! hypnotized
Loving the 80's vibe. Great sound. I can't stop playing this.
I would’ve never discovered this band if it wasn’t for a heartbreak and I am forever grateful that happened to me because this band is seriously underrated af and these guys are so talented
Listening to this going through a heartbreak of my own at the moment. Fantastic stuff.
Oh, this is amazing and much needed. Been feeling horrible, this really brightened my life. Thank you 🖤
Omg needed this too. Just had something horrible happen to me and been feeling down but this is making me feel myself again
Same here. I`m really stressed out with Uni stuff just now and am going through terrible anxiety :( hearing this made me smile :)
Two modern minds won’t say what they want to
Something about the aesthetic is welcoming..
Good times.
New wave 4ever 💙
Que vibe linda, que música maravilhosa!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love their tunes but I REALLY love their music videos - this one joins the rest that ill inevitably play at parties on a loop
thanks for bringinging back inocence to music, you are what I needed today, the world has changed a lot. it will never be the same without you guys.thank you.
Saw Drab with Deafheaven in Detroit. Got a sick poster with them and the other bands exclusive to that tour. Drab was way more fun live than I thought they'd be. The music was great of course, but the background imagery, intermissions between songs, the lighting made me feel like I was in Bladerunner. If you have a chance to see them you should.
Seeing them in Chicago next month
@@barmypharmacist You're gonna have a good time
Saw the same show in Orlando. Twas awesome! Much and many awesomes!
@@kenlab77 Same, it was a great show
ahhhh no i just got into them!! and they were here? 😭😭
Whaaaaaat New Drab!!!!!!! ^o^ this is awesome!
This song and this band gives me life.
This is where Indie music and freedom will always dominate the big radio scene. I haven't gotten lost in song & music in a very long time, and I am grateful bands like these still exist. This song is 80s / early 90s perfection.
Every time I listen to it I feel like I'm on the road driving aimlessly under an orange sky, at the same time it brings me a lull
YES YES YES!!!
How can this band be so good?
Thanks to Drab Majesty - Dais Recods for this another piece of musical art, great video, teamwork please stay Majesty !
What a track what a track what a song....10th repeat...still aint enough. Masterpiece. Thx DM
❤️
Their 80's styled videos are amazing!
Gorgeous! I'm so hyped!
Deb and Mona never seem to disappoint.....
I woke up to this in my feed and wanted to scream. VR SEX and now this? It's turning out to be a great year for music.
Ever since I discovered this band, I've been fascinated by it. So glad to see the video to one of my favorites of this masterpiece of album!
Saw DM in Sao Paulo in a tiny gothic club, stood 2 feet away from Deb for the whole show, might go deaf before 75 but it was worth it to experience that insanity, got to meet Deb, talk in English and take pictures.
Sorte a sua!! Um dia quero ve-los ao vivo tbm. Abs.
Que inveja cara, descobri a banda essa semana, fico até relativamente triste em saber que ja vieram ao Brasil, e que dificilmente poderia vê-los. Parabéns!!
