Corgi Hillman Hunter No 302 London - Sydney. Renovation after a collision with a kangaroo.

- The Hillmann Hunter became famous in 1968 after winning the London to Sydney Rally Marathon beating much more successful rivals. The Corgi company started producing its model from this rally in 1969. My copy was badly damaged, prompting me to joke that its appearance was surely created after a collision with a kangaroo. The project he presents in the video today was very long and exhausting in that I had to make a large number of missing parts and repair broken existing ones. As usual, at the end he presents the beautiful packaging in which this model looks like from the shop. Thank you for watching the video, I publish car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. As usual, a fabulous restoration - maybe best one ever, considering the damage of the unrestored car. Loved the box as well. Only glitch (speaking as an Australian) was the misspelling of ‘kangaroo’. Interesting fact about the marathon: Hillman should never have won. Lucien Bianchi in a DS Citroen was hundreds of miles in front, going through the NSW south coast town of Nowra, just 100 miles short of the finish in Sydney. A Morris Mini went through a stop sign and rammed the Citroen, killing the co-driver & critically injuring Bianchi. The Hillman Hunter at the time was still in Victoria. It was a tragic end to the Marathon & took the gloss away from the winners.

@@carmium Kangaroo is on the box in two places that l saw. Correct in one place. Wrong in the other. l hate it when l spot stuff like that.

My brother has one of these - I can see it from where I'm sitting - and the only non standard thing about it (my brother got it from a car boot sale) is that someone has very carefully painted the 'Roo Bar' white, which is the colour it should be. Those 'Golden Jacks' that Corgi produced for a couple of years in the late 1960's were an odd gimmick - they mostly ensured that kids would end up with a toy car with fewer than four wheels, which, I suspect, is why they always seemed to come with a spare. 😆😆😆

I'm starting to believe that some of this "damage" has been done on purpose. It doesn't take away from the great job to fix them up, but the "damage" is suspicious.

The beautiful corgi hillman hunter rally car ,in production 1969 to 1972 , memories of the early 1970s here , getting strands of deep pile carpet caught up around the golden jacks 😊.
There was also The Hillman Minx.

I'd like to see some 1/18th scale
Unfortunately, I don't have enough space in my workshop to renovate scales 1 to 18, mainly for painting parts, so I stop at smaller scales. Best regards.
