    Someone might already have posted this hack, but a great way to slice them is putting the potatoe in a wooden spoon (or a fancy wooden tool designed for this purpose) and slice. The knife will never go all the way through as it’s stopped by the wooden surface 🤗 Loadsa luv from Denmark, Scandinavia. Just stumbled upon your channel by meere chance and immediately subscribed! 💕

    Made these last night - yum! I have wooden spoons with "flat" handles. I am new to the PC/Air Fryer combo (I have Instant Pot Ultimate) and am REALLY appreciating using it for almost everything in summer heat ... MUCH less heat in the kitchen compared to stove top and oven. I followed your suggestion of a little water under the air fryer basket ... also soaking the potatoes which I do with fries but had never done with Hasselback. Result was perfect - Thank you!!

    Hi Louise, I have made these for years in the oven wrapped in foil. I can't wait to try these in the steam and crisp. I wouldn't know what to do without your show. I use wooden chopsticks as guides to cut and put a piece of onion and butter in the cracks. I also roll and baste with garlic oil. So now I can't wait to see the crispness of them. Can't wait for the next recipe!

    I love watching your videos. I just got a larger air fryer. It does have the rack. For those who need a rack 'lifter''.. I enjoy canning foods and canners use 'rings' on their jars. These rings make excellent lifters for holding jars up off the floor of canners if there is not a rack available to set the jars on and can also be used instead of the foil ring in the air fryer.

    This was very helpful. My oven will be occupied and hasselbacks can take a long time in the oven at a high temp so this option gives me a chance to make them in the air fryer and finish them in the oven with my asparagus after I pull my prime rib. Love the water tip.

    Might have to try this to see if I can get my kids to eat them. They only like chips, fries, and crispy hash brown/tater tots. I am 99% sure they would pic out all the crispy ones and leave the bottom alone, but this still looks easier than making chips or fries. Less hands on time.

  • @isitmondayet
    @isitmondayet ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I will usually pre-cook the potatoes in the microwave for ~10 mins (time is dependent on the size of potatoes) and until fork tender. Let them cool a bit before slicing. I also use a peeler to create a flatter bottom and a dishtowel to keep potatoes, chopsticks/wooden spoons from sliding everywhere. yeee-haaaaaa!

  • @timloving8043
    @timloving8043 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A smaller Yukon gold or red potato would make it easier to cut. I like to use a potato that can sit in a wooden spoon and that helps it to cook evenly and still be aesthetically appealing for a recipe

    Hi there! 👋 (I wish I knew your name to address you properly 🌹).
    First off, I LoVVVVe your channel❣️
    I thoroughly enjoy how you make recipes simple, easy to follow as well as giving instructions & show yourself demonstrating the ease of cooking using any Ninja Foodi Model. What you do is OUTSTANDING!
    I also want to make note that,
    I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU....
    (off camera/video - with countless amounts of food!!)
    Delving into testing recipes, times, settings etc. Also testing the exact same recipe(s)
    using different Ninja Foodi models, (sometimes just one model, othertimes 2 or more models at the same time.... That takes a LOT of work! And, we don't see the "behind the camera work!")
    ALL to achieve the perfect (or near perfect) recipes, settings & times in order to share with us viewers!
    Your work doesn't go un noticed!! You ARE Appreciated! 💖
    I can't even begin to imagine the trial & error you've had to go through and still go through. Although I imagine the trials & errors are probably a lot less now that you're such a "Pro!" (in my book) at what you do.... And you are a Beautiful, sweet and an AMAZING RECIPE CREATOR & COOK!!
    God Bless You & Your Family!

    3 Question:
    I just bought the new Ninja 14-in-1 8-qt XL SmartLid (doesn't have the thermometer)
    Mine came with the airfry basket.... You stated yours didn't come with one so you're using a "Crisping Plate"
    #1:
    I'm assuming I can use the airfry basket?
    (i know that's probably a dumb question, but I want to make sure, #2: plus using the basket the potatoes will be higher up, right? So will I need to raise the temp. To 400 like you suggested for crisper tops?)
    #3:
    My neighbor took my old Original 8qt Ninja when I got this one - can you tell me how to make these "Hasselback Potatoes" in the original Ninja?

    Thank you for being cognizant of sound issues that some of us have. I cannot tolerate metal on metal, such as stirring with a metal utensil in a stainless steel bowl or tapping on the edge of the bowl with a measuring spoon or cup. For me, these sounds are the equivalent of scratching fingernails on a chalkboard (probably not many even know what that is!).
