I have 3 of his CDs from early 90s, wondered what happen to him. Searched for A Little Further North and found a lot more. One of the top Australian song writers. I saw him in Brisbane at South Bank in early 90s, a free open air concert. Thanks Graeme.
anyone know where I find the lyrics to this song, having a debate as to what the word is in the verse about John prine, is it guitar Layley in the back, playing in the back, or guitar laying in the back????
Yes I see he's playing it on Capo 5 - in this case the chords in the verse would be something like D G/B D (*2), G A D G (*3) and then G A D over "on the Kimberley Frontier"
Awww, the Spini, Derby Cup, Ashley Oobagooma and all those other Derby references.....................and its all pictures of Broome??? Thanks.........Graeme............and its Willare (pronounced WILL AIR)................but not a bad song.
Some reading... www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-22/how-broome-left-the-kimberley-and-came-back-again/9571056 The song is called Kimberley Frontier and a frontier is defined as a border or on the edge of an area - Broome is well within the currently designated definition of the Kimberley's - though I know there are locals who dispute the inclusion. Would love to have included images of Derby as it was the source of inspiration - however grey clouds and torrential rain on the only day we had to shoot left us with nothing worth looking at. In a perfect world both Broome and Derby would have been represented as gateways to the Kimberley - to have included any iconic images of the Kimberley would definitely have been 'a fraud'. Either way thanks for the critique - the song was always the primary focus...
