  • In this video, I go over the best way to get way more air on small jumps (or any jump!) by popping off the jump. This will give you more time in the air for tricks, and it will also help you transition to bigger jumps. It's also just the best way to hit a jump, so it's a good skill to learn as soon as you start spending some time in the terrain park.

How to get the right timing? I think I always jump early and it feels much more tired than do it at the right timing😩😩😩

The timing can be tough! If you feel like you’re early, you might try this. Aim to pop when your front foot is already off the jump but your back foot is still on the jump. So keep your knees bent all the way until the front half of your board is in the air, and then pop. Hope this helps!

Love the way you broke that down and explained how you're not jumping but just Bending your legs and focusing on extending them at the top of the jump. And then sucking your knees up. I need to try it! Thank you!!

Yep this is something i need to work on. Im pretty much always just coasting and trying to stay balanced for the landing. Need to practice more.

It’s a huge game changer! It’s amazing how much higher you can get by popping. I see people going off a tiny jump and just barely getting off the ground, and then someone else pops off the same jump and gets grabs and 360s. Definitely worth it!

Nice video! But when do you pop on a jump verses Ollie on a jump?

For me personally, I always pop off jumps. I ollie when I'm outside the park and I'm trying to get in the air off flat ground, a roller, or maybe a side hit. I know people do ollie off jumps as well, but I find popping makes it a lot easier to maintain your balance. If you feel really good about your ollies, then you should experiment with that as well! Ollies definitely give you more height than popping, which is why they're useful outside of the park when you are doing most of the work to get in the air.
