While im more an experienced rider, your tutorials are legit the best, such straight forward instructions and clarity. Makes me feel more confident in my a abilities . 👍
I don’t know how this channel don’t have more subs, the videos are all so well produced and Tommy never fails to explain everything in details, keep up the good work man.
Landed my first jump after watching your tutorial... I watch a lot of online snowboard content and you have the ABSOLUTE best instruction with the progression approach... just wanted to say much thanks for all that you do for the snowboard community and the overall sport...
I fall in love with snowboarding in the past 2 years and I watch all kind of snowboarding videos before sleep everyday. Among all the videos, I love yours the most. You made ordinaries like me have a dream of snowboarding like a pro.
I went from barely staying up on a board to doing black diamonds and hard blues as well as hitting 45mph and minor jumps in one season, all by watching and following a different video everytime I hit the slopes! You my ride more awesome for sure
Great Tutorial, would just like to add that a lot of beginners actually need advice on when they land the jump, knowing how to deal with the speed that they've picked up, landing in panic mode & put the brakes straight on & crashing
Tommie Bennett I’d love that! I was doing well on the jumps for the most part but it was mostly luck+small jumps. When I took them higher I would catch the nose or something, start flipping on the ground, and end up with snow in my nose haha
though I am Russian, your explanations are so clear to me and in the point. It helps me so much to struggle with my technique issues. Well Done, Tommie !
I'm about to hit the slopes this weekend again and finally try to push myself to do some jumps. Few years back i broke some bones in a snowpark and been hesitant ever since. This video is very helpfull! I think I'm finally gonna do it again! Cheers from polish girl! You do a great job explaining things
Awesome. I really enjoyed that, it was just what I needed to know. I m a late age rider, 56, started 5 years ago. I’ve just got a handle on enjoying my ride, carving is coming along, now I want to try some small jumps. I ve watched quite a few vids, this was by far the best for me. Thanks
We need a video from you on stretching/conditioning/exercises for snowboarding. After a full day of riding, I'm exhausted. What do you do to stay in shape for riding days on days?
I have been binge-watching your videos for the last 2 weeks.. I love them man, if only I could do half the stuff you can do ;p only just into my 2nd season here in NZ so got a weee bit to go :D
Really wish you had posted this last week... before I took myself into the park without the right tools and cracked my collar bone. Solid and clear tutorial 👍.
This is so helpful im a beginner at doing jumps i just started this season and by just watching all your video im actually doing it but i wish you have more goofy video thank you
Thanks Broh I was just telling my brother-in-law I need to learn how to jump next, got my board game up pretty nice according to him so that's the next thing to work on to have more fun Thanks
Liked to watch the transition of your arms move from a down position going up through the jump in sync in order to get your body some more height and balance. Thanks for the awesome videos.
Thanks for this video dude! Wish I've watched it earlier. Yesterday I was practising my jumps, and the whole day it was going great, but on the last run I was too tired and my body did not follow through, so instead of landing I just smashed into the ground. Long story short, I broke my back leg, so no more snowboarding this year... At least I've learned to not push further when I'm too tired, and I have all the time in the world to watch some more tutorials before going back up ;) Keep the coming, you have a new sub!
I know this was over a year ago, but I can definitely relate! I always push myself too much. Last year I was riding on barely any sleep and had a pretty bad wipe out. I don’t know how or what I did. Rolled and heard a crack. I thought I broke something, but it must have been my helmet hitting the ground. Had a headache the day after and some pulled muscles, so I came away lucky. I can only imagine if I hadn’t been wearing a helmet…
@@tommiebennett subscribed this morning and dropped a link to my younger brother! I'll be watching plenty more as the season approaches! Have a good day!
This video is sooo helpful tommie! I beginning to do small jumps and am always thinking what should i do with my body and legs. Love the swing you do with the arms when doing ollies! I will definitely try all these tips next time im riding.
Tommie: I wish I had watched this video before my park 101 camp yesterday when I hit my first jump. I landed fine when I just glided over or popped off the jump, but then my instructor told me to Ollie off the jump. Then I ate it every time. Why did she teach me to Ollie off the jump? I will never know, but I appreciate your instruction video!
As others have commented already, thanks for the crystal clear instructions mate! Starting with those basic posture exercises should help me avoid having a panic attack at the simple thought of my board not touching the ground for a while :P
Could you do a demo at keystone ? And how to progress from the beginner jumps all the way up to the next level jumps and how to properly hit them ? That’s my biggest challenge as a rider is having the proper speed and what to do when approaching that knuckle since it goes to a medium/high incline
Awesome video! I'm having a hard time staying up right tend to be leaning over my toe side. I believe its where I'm looking. Where should you be looking when jumping?
I learned today that I really need to learn my mountains park terrain, cause I hit a jump with a lot of pitch with far to much speed and I was scared outta my body. Once I hit all the features twice I was golden after that. Just gotta go slower I want to full send too much
@@tommiebennett really nice views. ill have to check it out. im stuck riding timberline and there are no sharp mountain views, just a random other volcano in the distance

The shoulder tip is elite. Having your shoulders open makes you spin so much and explains a lot of my bails.

Perfect timing. Finally a confident rider, more or less, practicing some jumps all day tomorrow.
It super awesome how you talk about when to Ollie vs hop, this is a question that all beginner has but not one TH-cam snowboarder ever mention.

Are there any dryland workouts that can help train my shoulders not to open up mid air? I cant seem to stop rotating my shoulders when i take off. Any advice?
Trampolining, helps to train the movement and there are places that even have boards to use on the trampoline
For the larger jumps, a bit of toe edge is good on takeoff... what about landing? Flat and stacked?
I usually brake check with my heel edge after landing a jump.
how do u land? flat base or tail first? l;ooked like u dip the tail
